I do make the brackets, but some folks like to save a bit of money and do it themselves with the couple of different ideas that are on the site. As far as the mufflers if I'm not mistaken the '05's and up have the converter due to the FI.

Sorry about the hijack Joe Richard and Mini...it's going to be a fast and furious weekend to be sure. We'll be leaving out of Detroit Friday the 28th after I get out of work and drive basically till we drop. Next morning finish the trip and unpack the 20 ft trailer that we will be hauling, then turn around and head north. I have no timeline and there wont be much time for socializing unfortunately. I'll give you folks a call on the way there, but it's a hell of a ride just to come over to see us unpack a trailer and then leave. We'll see how the cards fall and go from there

Great Idea for an Interior Trunk Light!
Squidley replied to dragerman's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
This is the one I have in the trunk of my RSV and I just bought the thicker 3M double side tape to put it on...has been on the bike for 4 or 5 months now with no problems http://www.smarthome.com/46152.html?src=WG1011039 -
Its noisy if Charlies head is in it :rotf::rotf:

Tom, You might want to put on what you think is worth parting out. Also put the parts in that classified section on the site, there probably wont be a lot left after the 1st gen sharks get through with it

Rate of failure?
Squidley replied to RustyRecycledToy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ed, They do not frequently break, so I wouldn't loose sleep over it It is a 20 + something year old bike, so unfortunately these things are to be expected...you'll be fine -
Joe, I'm not sure if we'll be able to make it or not, we are getting ready to help Lonna's niece move to North Carolina. I'll know more in a few days, but there will be plenty of folks there that can help you with the bike

I know how you feel bud, you 2 are in our thoughts...but you knew that. Send our hellos and we'll catch up with you soon

It's an interesting idea, but I'll come out and say it....I wouldn't like to see the official logo changed to something different. Perhaps we could embelish something else as a limited edition, but I dont want to not have the original design available or changed to something different. I'm all for ideas, and please believe me I'm not trying to squash anything that anyone has in mind. But I want to keep the logo as it is as the official trademark of this group. It's part of our history and I would like it to be passed on like that. Just some babbling out of me, but I'm open to hear others ideas and takes on this

You guys are going to win the contest of who knows more about a Hondas on a Yamaha website

What a wiseass

Bottom line for me is that most of the HD stuff is better quality than the Yamaha. Their chrome is better and I like the design of some items VS the Yamaha...take the turn signals for example. It was like, build a beautiful bike and then realise that "Oh crap, this thing has to have turn signals" RK slash cut pipes look like they were designed to be opn a G2. Not a matter of me wanting it to be a Harley, just having the best of both worlds. Besides, I can't afford a new H/D otherwise I just might have a Road Glide in the shed instead of an RSV...plus I like to go fast every once in a while

You folks are always in our thoughts bro, hard to hear that Eileen is going through this again We send our love and give us a call if you all need anything...even if it's a night out ...be safe my friend ...and yes it is way too early to be this cold!

I faired a bit better as I had 3 of them jump in front of me on my way to work Friday morning. Threaded the needle between the 2nd and 3rd one, only about 5 feet between them Glad I didn't take one out....not looking forwrad to something like that. They will heal, but it sure is a drag...they are in our thoughts.

So fast I am losing parts!!!
Squidley replied to uthpda's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Something to remember is that there is a right side vent and a left one. They are different parts and NOT interchangeable, so make sure you get the specific side for the bike -
It was 48 here this morning on my ride to work and it felt just like Fall...so I am going to call it, Fall started here in Michigan today

My 2nd Gen is sick...
Squidley replied to Cerviperus's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would start at the plugs and just put new ones in there. Yes you do have to take off the tank (not a big deal) and the forward dogbones that connect to the engine. I would recommend that you just go back to the original plugs and not worry about Iridium or anything fancy. The choke mention by John is also a good one, make sure it is completely off. These are starting points to go by, if your still having troubles after the plug change let us know and we'll chisel it down and figure it out -
James, Depending on what your trying to accomplish (besides the obvious) a handheld sand blaster might do the trick. I have one and it works pretty slick, you could actually leave the bolts in if you chose to. Then just wipe down with a degreasing solvent and prime/paint....something to think about

steering problems!!!
Squidley replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If your getting a grinding sound when you turn, then there is more than likely a problem with the bearings. If that is what the problem turns out to be and your not real mechanically inclined then I would suggest that you let an experienced mechanic look into it. It is a pretty involved process to take it apart and regrease the steering head bearings. -
dome lights for luggage
Squidley replied to Howie257's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the same one as Rex does, it works slick and theres no wiring to screw around with. -
Wish it was different for you, I'm not sure that I could hang it up myself. Best of luck in getting it sold...be safe
