That is just a liability excuse for Yamaha, all cycle co. say the same thing. I would put on a hitch, such as a reciever type, and if the dealer says anything just tell them you run flags on the back when you ride PGR missions. They can't prove that you dont and I would think it would be foolish for them to try and create an issue about it

rear diff questions
Squidley replied to RustyRecycledToy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There are certain tires that are noisy, the Michelin Commanders are especially noisy in the corners. It might be the tires, but that is just a guess It has been mentioned about putting the spacer washer in the right area when you install the rear wheel back on. I too know how not to put it on, pretty tough to say without being there and hearing the noise. I suspect that you should look with with the wheel on the ground as from what I read noting is happening on the stand. Could be something else wearing out and rubbing hwere it shouldn't. Wish I was closer, I could help the process along. -

It's hardwired into some of us, we'll do it till the day we die. Some folks try it because it's envogue to do it and give it up soon after. For me it's all about the freedom of having nothing around me and slipping through life. I want to experience all that I can and the bike is freedom, plus it is an affordable way to see the world...which I love to do also

I started very young with minibikes about 8 or 9. The I went to dirt bikes at about 12 or so, a 125cc was the first one. I recommend that a young rider learns on a dirtbike before he learns on a street bike at it will teach shifting and proper gear selection. I use my dirtbike experience a lot on a streetbike, especially with useage of the back brakes and swinging the bike around. Start small cc's and lots of time getting used to the bike in the yard or a parking lot. Safety course is a given as there is lots of good info with them

Looking for rear rotor for 1st gen
Squidley replied to PEIslander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Got it Rick, I'll be sending it out by the weekend -
In '87 they still might have been making the Standard, the Royale model is the one with sterio system in it. You would notice the radio as it is on the left side on the top of the fairing. Youy'll need to probably go buy an aftermarket sterio and install it. If you need more help shoot me a PM and we'll get you headed in the right direction

I would have to say treat him like a man and suggest that he steps up to the damn plate and quit screwing around. I dont think that I would be half a paitent as your being. Ebay isn't for screwing around, especially on big ticket items...shame on the dummy.

Glad it's you telling us, never a good thing to hear. Take the time to heal properly and dont settle for anything less that the bike is worth. Also remember that there will be ailments in the future so dont settle on the first offer for your pain and suffering.

Not what I want to wake up to, I agree that atleast it was him calling and letting you know. Our thoughts are with him...too many accidents happening this year. Please be careful out there folks!

I just want to take a minute to thank 2 of our own here, Frank Andrews and Larry Skeels (Carbon One) I posted up about my rear rotor being destoryed from brake pad failure. Frank was the 1st to respond with "I have one that you can have" send me your address. Larry PM'd me and said during the meanwhile that I was waiting for the one from Frank, that I could use the one off his Midnight as it wasn't going to be used. I went to Larry's and grabbed the rotor and the brake pads that he had. He said to use it as long as I needed it and gave me the pads. Frank had let me know that he shipped the rotor, brake pads and the caliper as he switch his bike to a trike. I offered him money to atleast cover postage, to which he responded no, he was glad to be able to help. Now dont get me wrong here, I am extremely grateful for these gentlemens generosity. But it seems weird that it happened to me. I have done and will continue to do the same thing as they have done. If I have something and dont use it, I gladly will give it to a member in exactly the same way as Larry and Frank have done for me. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you both, it sure puts back faith in the human race when your on the recieving end on of a situation like this. This place is truly a brotherhood and family that never ceases to amaze me....thanks for taking the time to listen

I might take one for a ride one of these days, but I really have my heart set on an ST 1100 for the driver back and forth to work. I want to keep the miles on the RSV for "Touring" and not kill it 100 miles a day back and forth to work Dont know about ES next year, we have plans for a 2 week run in the early spring and then a week in Ontario. It might be kinda thin by that point ....but if I win that damn lottery

Lift adapter sketch???
Squidley replied to odysse68's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Larry's product is top notch, I have never known him to build anything at less that perfect. I made one as I had all the materials, but I wouldn't hesitate a second to buy his had I not done it myself. I'll probably buy one from Larry for my uncle who just bought a '99.- 10 replies

I saw one of the 1300's at Marcarls BBQ this year and it looks to be a pretty nice bike. Folks that rode it said it has a good amount of power and were pretty pleased with it. Glad you got to spin her at night, I always love riding when it clear out and a good moon in the sky

Good to see that you got her home Bud I really mean it when I say that this bike is probably the best condition 1st gen I have ever seen. I couldn't find but 2 scratches on it and they were hardly noticeable. I know you 2 will have great fun this weekend getting aquainted with your new ride. Be safe and we'll see you folks soon
