I must confess. I dropped my RSV, HARD.

Unfortunately this happens a lot with the rear brakes. I have locked mine up several times without even trying It is good that you are writing this to us as it could have turned out very differently. I know that we have a new vendor that has a new product for the braking system. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16189 I do plan on trying these as I think they are an easy and inexpensive upgrade. Be safe and let us know what your looking for on the bike. -
I want to take a few minutes here and talk with everyone. This isn't something that needs an acknowledgement, but is something that needs to be said. The Moderators and myself pride ourselves on not having to do much "Censoring" of posts. For the most part all of you members here are VERY good at policing the site and yourselves. I know I speak for all of us when I tell you that we do appreciate that. There are times when some posts go south, for whatever reason. I'm asking from everyone of our members that we remember why we are here at this website. This is a motorcycle forum, and we do a good job of keeping it PG rated and not getting political. Please believe me when I say that I too have a hard time not commenting on some subjects. We all have our beliefs, and we are truly an international club, with many different beliefs and values. Now some of us are in the PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrome) portion of our ride season. We will be spending a lot more time on the site as there really isn't a lot that we do in the winter. There are going to be disagreements, we have MANY colorful personalities here, but I ask that we all keep it civil and not attack folks for their beliefs. If you come onto the site, and your angry or upset from a hard day at work. I ask that you dont post to a thread that may upset you. I do this many times myself as if I believe that I'm writing something that will lash out or further escalate a thread, I simply leave the site and come back when I'm calmed down...that sometimes takes a day for me This is an exceptional place, there isn't another forum quite like what we have here. I truly enjoy us being a family here, and appreciate the diversity that we have. So please, the PMS season is early and we certainly dont want folks not coming here because it's uncomfortable. If you need to vent on a subject, there are hundreds of other websites to go to that would be more suitable for it. From myself and all the moderators, thank you for being here. Our job is easy compared to some of the sites I have gone to....let us all be safe this PMS season

Rooster, Sorry to hear about your Brother, never a good thing. To everyone else, I appreciate the thoughts about guns and whatnot. This is no place to be discussing it, we all know where these conversations lead....and were not going there. I'm closing this thread, if you have any disputes with this action PM me and we will discuss it....Rooster best wishes to your brother.

Most of the older members know about the Driving light brackets that I made for my 1st gens for adding additional lights up higher. By keep them up higher it allows for better angling and free from road debris. They work great and will definitely brighten up the road and help you to be seen. They bolt on to where the horn originally goes and it takes about 10 minutes or less to install them on the bike. They only come in a Satin finish. This is only for the brackets, you'll have to pick out what lights you like best. The $30.00 price includes the shipping in the continental US. Canada will be $5 more, I have a couple dozen of these left and when they are gone....I'm not making anymore of them. PM me if you have any questions.

Without getting Political with this one...I totally agree Randy Everybody thinks that the USA is invinceable, militarily that is probably true. Other countries aren't going to defeat us on the battlefield, they will destroy our pocketbooks. Problem with it is everyone is too damn busy to do anything about it. It will be a sad day when this country is trampled over because it's big corporate businessmen have sold it out. I believe that day is coming sooner than we might like to think

Bill, The wobble issue could be a couple of things, as Swifty mentioned the steering head bearing might need a little tightening. Also too an excessively worn rear tire will give the front end a shimmy. The Avons are a great choice for tires, most folks find a 100% better difference when installing them for the first time. If your not vertically challenged a set of Leveling links will improve slow speed performance greatly. As far as the whine...yes it is normal. Some are louder than others, but all the bikes have a certain amount of it. It comes from the gears and how they are cut. If it's screaming then thats an issue but a little whine isn't abnormal. Just ride the hell out of it

Good to see your still kickin' there Chuck We definitely have to get back together again soon, hello to Cindi from Michigan

Were here...unfortunately it's a hard reality where we live. Been driving the cage to work at it's been mid to upper 20's in the morning and I dont need that 1 piece of ice on the road to total out a $10K bike. Sucks too because it's been upper 50's and nice on the drive home

I suppose my only question is "Who makes the stator?" If it's Electrosport out of California, no thanks. I have had way too many problems with them and their customer service sucks! Another good mention is of the wiring harness, just about every bike I know of (besides maybe the wings) dont have large enough wires to handle extra current. It's good to hear that your not having any problems with the research bike....I'll just wait a bit longer to see how it all shakes out

I agree with you Jerry, thats what I thought of also. I guess my question with them is, if he has the specific Markland hitch for that bike, and it is installed on the bike properly, there shouldn't be an issue Obviously I haven't seen the hitch on Clays bike, perhaps there is some parts missing off of it. One way or the other I would like to help him get it figured out. That was 1 hell of a prize to give away

Let me know if you run into problems, we'll get it figured out....we always do

Karras, If I'm reading this right, you can slide the throttle grip over the handlebar, which is ok. But when you try to put the switch housing over the grip, it will not fit. Am I on the right track here? If so and your positive that none of the wiring of the switch is in the way, I would suggest that you file the flat ends which fit into the groove down some. If this isn't what you meaning then perhaps you could give me a call and we could talk it out over the phone. My # is in the VR assistance list

Clay, What didn't they like about your hitch? If I'm not mistaken didn't you buy a Markland for your 1200 off ebay?? As long as it was made for the bike, and it was hooked up correctly, I dont see how they could protest. If you have some pics of the hitch on your bike post them up and we can look to see if there are any missing parts that your unaware of. I have to say that initially hearing this is a bit discouraging. Folks like the Bushtech, but I know that I personally wont be recommending them if there is some sort of holier than thou attitude on their behalf.
-
I know it took me a while to get used to the one I had on the '99 last year when I bought it. The 130 is a great alternative for those with shorter inseams as the leveling links can make the bike a bit too tall. Just remember Practise makes perfect

I dont know if I would go that far, we just need you around to help the site run smooth Good post Mark...really cool idea

We did miss being with you folks, but had a good time with Bruce and Max. Never enough time in the week to do everything you want to...and the tooth fairy IS scary

Good job Lewis! We are very proud of you for the effort you put into the St. Judes donation. It looks like you had a good bunch with you, thanks to all that were able to attend

My first good one was on the USS Elmer Montgomery (FF1082) in the north Atlantic in October. Waves coming all the way over the ship to the flightdeck on that back. It didn't help that we were sub hunters with a 20' diameter sonar dish under the front keel. Ship would brak water in the front and crash down and the whole damn thing would shimmy side to side...that was 1 hell of a ride for 3 days

Sorry we couldn't make it, but I know Gary N's family appreciated the showing of us at the funeral. As always...thanks for the good job you folks do, the members always make me proud to be one of this group

That was very cool! Even though I didn't start driving till the early 80's I had my share of hot rods. My '67 Barracuda was the my favorite 340 Tripower with a Dana rearend and a Muncie 4 speed....that car would rip your head off!

No thank you...that thing is uglier than sin!
