I'd be more than willing to donate monies to the fund....but I have burned myself out on taking on tasks. Let me know where to send the loot and I'll get it there

The groan is a common problem on the G2's, although I have never heard of the leveling links creating the problem. There's not a whole lot to bind up on the rear shock of the G2's. It's pretty simple and strait fwd, perhaps it does just need some additional lubrication

Something to keep in mind about any part that 1st genners buy off ebay. They have been discontinued for atleast 10 years, so if you can get anything made for the 1st gens in good shape for less than $200 it's a deal. BTW a new Utopia or Diamond R backrest will run you better than $200 for the G2's...so keep that in mind when your buying.- 5 replies

Jeff, If my memory serves me correctly I dont believe that you have to pull the lowers. 2 10mm bolts and it will fall out, put it up on the jack and that will make the process much easier.- 8 replies

Jeremy, The design is for any style of driving or fog light that you wish to put on them. Rick explained it perfectly, there are 3 holes in the bracket, 1 to mount it to the bike, 1 to install the stock horn back on and 1 on top for the driving light. You will be able to adjust the light in whatever direction you wish. Mine were slightly angled towards the ditches for a full field of light on the road ahead. If you have any other questions you can PM me and we'll get all your questions answered Sarges....Thanks Buddy, I appreciate you picking up my slack -
I knew I could count on all of you to put the REAL spin on it 86er....please take more of the meds...your scaring the kids

It's interesting that this thread is asked by many newer members. I dont mind it when it comes up as we have a LOT of folks joining up, and I like to hear of their choices Well mine has stuck with me since 1986. I joined the Navy in August 1985 and when I came home on leave for the 1st time from Boot camp and school, my best friend just called me it and it has stuck for better than 20 years. Besides, I like the thought of being a little nasty creature that will sneak up and grab you if your not careful

Another option too is going with a set of H/D roadking mufflers. I have a set that are drilled out and they aren't anywhere near as loud as the Bubs. As far as the trike kit, perhaps a sidecar might also be an option. Your son would have an unobstucted view and I would think that they could be somewhat easily removed...just another thought. BTW welcome to the site, were glad to have you here

Unfortunately this happens a lot with the rear brakes. I have locked mine up several times without even trying It is good that you are writing this to us as it could have turned out very differently. I know that we have a new vendor that has a new product for the braking system. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16189 I do plan on trying these as I think they are an easy and inexpensive upgrade. Be safe and let us know what your looking for on the bike. -
I want to take a few minutes here and talk with everyone. This isn't something that needs an acknowledgement, but is something that needs to be said. The Moderators and myself pride ourselves on not having to do much "Censoring" of posts. For the most part all of you members here are VERY good at policing the site and yourselves. I know I speak for all of us when I tell you that we do appreciate that. There are times when some posts go south, for whatever reason. I'm asking from everyone of our members that we remember why we are here at this website. This is a motorcycle forum, and we do a good job of keeping it PG rated and not getting political. Please believe me when I say that I too have a hard time not commenting on some subjects. We all have our beliefs, and we are truly an international club, with many different beliefs and values. Now some of us are in the PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrome) portion of our ride season. We will be spending a lot more time on the site as there really isn't a lot that we do in the winter. There are going to be disagreements, we have MANY colorful personalities here, but I ask that we all keep it civil and not attack folks for their beliefs. If you come onto the site, and your angry or upset from a hard day at work. I ask that you dont post to a thread that may upset you. I do this many times myself as if I believe that I'm writing something that will lash out or further escalate a thread, I simply leave the site and come back when I'm calmed down...that sometimes takes a day for me This is an exceptional place, there isn't another forum quite like what we have here. I truly enjoy us being a family here, and appreciate the diversity that we have. So please, the PMS season is early and we certainly dont want folks not coming here because it's uncomfortable. If you need to vent on a subject, there are hundreds of other websites to go to that would be more suitable for it. From myself and all the moderators, thank you for being here. Our job is easy compared to some of the sites I have gone to....let us all be safe this PMS season

Rooster, Sorry to hear about your Brother, never a good thing. To everyone else, I appreciate the thoughts about guns and whatnot. This is no place to be discussing it, we all know where these conversations lead....and were not going there. I'm closing this thread, if you have any disputes with this action PM me and we will discuss it....Rooster best wishes to your brother.

Most of the older members know about the Driving light brackets that I made for my 1st gens for adding additional lights up higher. By keep them up higher it allows for better angling and free from road debris. They work great and will definitely brighten up the road and help you to be seen. They bolt on to where the horn originally goes and it takes about 10 minutes or less to install them on the bike. They only come in a Satin finish. This is only for the brackets, you'll have to pick out what lights you like best. The $30.00 price includes the shipping in the continental US. Canada will be $5 more, I have a couple dozen of these left and when they are gone....I'm not making anymore of them. PM me if you have any questions.

Without getting Political with this one...I totally agree Randy Everybody thinks that the USA is invinceable, militarily that is probably true. Other countries aren't going to defeat us on the battlefield, they will destroy our pocketbooks. Problem with it is everyone is too damn busy to do anything about it. It will be a sad day when this country is trampled over because it's big corporate businessmen have sold it out. I believe that day is coming sooner than we might like to think

Bill, The wobble issue could be a couple of things, as Swifty mentioned the steering head bearing might need a little tightening. Also too an excessively worn rear tire will give the front end a shimmy. The Avons are a great choice for tires, most folks find a 100% better difference when installing them for the first time. If your not vertically challenged a set of Leveling links will improve slow speed performance greatly. As far as the whine...yes it is normal. Some are louder than others, but all the bikes have a certain amount of it. It comes from the gears and how they are cut. If it's screaming then thats an issue but a little whine isn't abnormal. Just ride the hell out of it

Good to see your still kickin' there Chuck We definitely have to get back together again soon, hello to Cindi from Michigan

Were here...unfortunately it's a hard reality where we live. Been driving the cage to work at it's been mid to upper 20's in the morning and I dont need that 1 piece of ice on the road to total out a $10K bike. Sucks too because it's been upper 50's and nice on the drive home

I suppose my only question is "Who makes the stator?" If it's Electrosport out of California, no thanks. I have had way too many problems with them and their customer service sucks! Another good mention is of the wiring harness, just about every bike I know of (besides maybe the wings) dont have large enough wires to handle extra current. It's good to hear that your not having any problems with the research bike....I'll just wait a bit longer to see how it all shakes out

I agree with you Jerry, thats what I thought of also. I guess my question with them is, if he has the specific Markland hitch for that bike, and it is installed on the bike properly, there shouldn't be an issue Obviously I haven't seen the hitch on Clays bike, perhaps there is some parts missing off of it. One way or the other I would like to help him get it figured out. That was 1 hell of a prize to give away
