  1. Never good to hear of a brother going down and not making it, sorry for your loss Tom.. I would like to add something that might help a bit... I'm a glass half full type guy, and try to see the silver lining in the rain clouds. We should all be so lucky as John, as to when we do go to meet the maker, we are doing something we love and with the brothers and sisters we love...just some food for thought God Bless his family and friends, for he is in a much better place.
  2. I like it!
  3. I was helped by Denden with my carbs as I replaced the intake boots on my '99. Now my application is a bit different and I have drilled out Roadking mufflers and K&N filters. We ended up replacing all the jets in the carbs to fatten up the fuel mixture. I dont know what all you have done to your bike, but perhaps rejetting the carbs will work better for you. I was talking with Dennis and he had mentioned about not shimming the needles, and I totally trust his judgement. He is one of the few folks on this site that when tech stuff is mentioned he is a guru. I know others will chime in here, but watching Dennis do my carbs I realised it wasn't as terrible a job as I thought. Folks will help you iron out this out with you
  4. We are a different breed, many of us not accepting the status quoe and think outside the box. Right now I'm taking a vacation and heading south just so I can ride some...it's been 2 months since I have been on the scoot. Needless to say....I'm ready to put on a couple thousand miles
  5. Got it bud We'll make something happen...even if it's just bad gas
  6. I am on holidays...were in St. Louis right now at Allan H's We can both make the call, never can have too much information available to oneself. Besides, if they wont do an international ship, I'll have it shipped to me and then I'll get it down under BTW Buddy....Merry Christmas!
  7. Steve, I will try to get ahold of Flatout on Monday, but dont hold your breath as it will be Christmas eve. Wednesday will be the better try and I'll see how much it is and if they'll ship it internationally. If not we'll make some sort of arraingement to get it across the pond, I'll be in touch...Have a great Christmas
  8. Nice Bobbie....very appropriate for this time of year....or all year
  9. The brakes on the 1200's are a bit performance restricted being only a single caliper. You have to remember also that when you apply the front brake lever it's only applying the right front caliper. Being that the rear and front left are linked together with the rear petal. I too found that the brakes were a little weak on my '84 for a bike that was well past the 800 lb. mark....so yes it's normal what you feel
  10. Thanks Buddy
  11. Damn and it's shiney too!!!
  12. Nice looking ride there Eddie....and it's Black, imagine that
  13. Long ride.....DUH!!!!
  14. Nah....we'll keep it around in case someone else has the same problem...Merry Christmas you old Jarhead!
  15. A trip down south to ride the bike....since it's been 2 months!!!
  16. Sounds to me like your toast George Merry Christmas you 2

  18. There's always room, but you'll have to thumb it from Mississippi, thats when the bike comes out and we start to ride it instead of the 'Burban. Destination is secret, but we'll be seeing Lonna's mother and twin sisters ....did I mention I was ready to go right now
  19. Jess, Dont worry about the filing, go ahead and get it done soon. I know a couple that sent in for theirs and had it 3 weeks later.
  20. I can't wait until Friday when we start to head south for 16 days....I really am sick of snow But it looks like you had fun
  21. It's a different look, I like the idea but dont know if I would want them for myself Anything to make the bike your own is a good thing
  22. Sounds like it will be an eating drinking party...instead of a deck raising party  Sure wish we could make it...one of these days Jeff
  23. Eddie, If your truly going to get rid of it then I would sell all the chrome (providing you have all the old parts) As nice as it is, I agree with Denny, there's no way your going to get 20 G's for it even in the spring. Hold onto it for the winter and see what happens come spring, you know you'll be able to get rid of the chrome at anytime.
  24. Paul, The 12" will give better bearing life, but I have built trailers with both. The 8" one I did (which Marcarl now owns) has better than 20000 miles on it with no problems. I also installed a set of bearing buddies on it and they work great. It really depends on the look that your going for, you'll have to decide if the 8" look better with it or the 12".
  25. I know you didn't mention about and leaking fuel, but I would wonder if maybe there is a stuck float? I would tap on both the carb bowls on the cylinders in question in addition to all the advise that has already been passed on.
