  1. Curt, I wont make a long winded spot here, but thank you for your post. It is absolutely the people here and @ the Venturers that make them what they are. I still have folks at the Venturers that I would like to meet one day, so thank you and Marshall for the well wishes and the same back to you and all of ther members at both clubs.
  2. As this fan from Michigan would say I cheer the Wolverines or anyone that plays Ohio State, good job by LSU
  3. I've been doing a bit of searching myself online and came up with a bit of surprising info. I couldn't find a specified load rating on the Michelin Commanders, but I did for the Avon venom. Now get this, there are 2 Venom rear tires size 150/90B15 the load index on 1 of them is 80H which it's load is 992 lbs. The other is a 74V which is 827 lbs. thats 165 lbs difference...which is huge on these bikes. I will check more into the Michelins load rating and post back with what I find out. Make sure when you order whatever tire you decide to get, that you make sure of the load rating and get the most tire you can get.
  4. God love you kiddo...that made me laugh out loud
  5. We have lots of prayers to send...a lot have been coming our way. You all are in our thoughts, just ask if there is anything we can do.
  6. A little more info here for you all. The Tire was a Michelin Commander, and I still had a portion of the center ridge rain groove visible. I was going to change it out after this trip as I dont like to push the tires for this reason. I always keep my tire at max inflation, when I checked the tires before we left they were at 41 lbs, which is max pressure. The tire never gave me any indication of it being low. It wasn't loose in the rear and the bike felt very solid the entire trip. I honestly dont know what happened, I want to get it in the air and take a look at it closer and make sure there wasn't anything in it. Give me till the end of the week and we'll see if we can get a good solid answer for Y'all...Gotta go back to watching some movies with Mean Dog BTW...did I mention were happy to be alive
  7. We are now in Madden MS. @ Mean Dogs house, we'll be here for the night and tomorrow start the trek north back to ice and snow. Can't thank everyone enough for all the hospitality and help, it's been overwhelming. A fond farwell to our southern friends, and a bold hello to our northern ones...see Y'all soon
  8. This is a good topic to mention, as I too have wondered the same thing on our accident. I am leaning towards not having a basket on the back of the bike. I did try to distribute the weight more towards the front, but you can only move it fwd so far. After what has happened, as much as I really wanted to get away from a trailer behind the bike. It seems as if it would be the safest thing to do on long trips. I also agree with keeping the tires at max inflation for the reason that Boo mentioned. The less air in the tire the lower weight it can safely handle. Keep an eye on them close and let us be vigilant about checking them so nothing like what happened to us happens again.
  9. I know the bike we did for Charlie had an Oddessy that I installed in it. I also had the new fuse block in it also, but I'm not sure which battery # we installed. Let me get back home and I'll see if I have any info on that
  10. Thank You! Lonna and I are doing OK, she's real sore and I am too. We can't begin to express how we feel to all of you that have us in your thoughts. Kenny and Beth are treating us like royalty, I can't begin to thank them enough for all the hospitality and help. If any of you southern folks get a chance to meet them, take it. You'll find none finer than these folks and their family. Tomorrow will take us to Mean Dogs and we'll load the bike in our trailer and head north. I have taken pics of the bike and a motorist that stopped took about 15 of them at the accident. I'll get them posted up when we get home. I want to thank the countless people that have called, emailed or PM'd us. You never know how many real friends you have until something like this happens. I have felt overwhelmed with all your support, Lonna and I are very humbled that you all think of us this way...Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I'll pop back on from time to time during the trek north, all of you be safe and hopefully I was this years patsy and this wreck will be the only one for the year for this group....and another thing, check your tires, our outcome would have been a lot worse if it happened 2 miles earlier. God Bless all of you
  11. Be Nice...period Jack, Thanks for jumping into it again
  12. Hey Folks, Thank you for thinking of us, and without sounding wrong, please hold off on doing anything on bikes yet. My bike is most definitely totalled, no doubt in my mind on that. We'll get it back to Michigan as it's easier to fight with the insurance company when I have the bike in my possesion. I have full coverage on it and we'll see how it all plays out. I still have 3 months of PMS to play with, so there is no rush for a bike right now. Thank you ALL again for thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers. PS If your going to pray for 1 harder, pray for Lonna 1st as she took the biggest hit.
  13. Harold, Dont know how handy you are, but when we get the bike thing all straitened out I'll post up a few pics of how mine were on my '99
  14. WE ARE ALIVE!!!!! ....and that is all that matters. 1st off Thank you all so much for the reply's, it truly helps us realise how rich we are and how much we are blessed. I'll make this a quickie We were on I 10 west of Baton Rouge heading to meet up with Kbran and then back to his place in Bogalusa. Clipping along about 70 or so and the rear tire went flat on me. I was able to countersteer it 3 times before I finally lost it. I dont know how fast we were going when it laid down, but it was fast enough to total the bike. I'm not sure if we hit something I didn't see, but the tire was absolutely destroyed. I am very sore right now, even with the drugs the doc prescribed. Lonna is unfortunately in worse shape than me. She has a broken collar bone and separated her left sholder, she too is very sore....but were alive. I'm not sure whats going to happen, but tomorrow we'll survey the bike and decide what actions we will take. I can't put into words what I feel right now besides Thank you. Kenny, Beth and their family have been a god send. For those of you that know them, you know just what I'm saying. The people that we have here on this site are some of the most remarkable folks on the planet. I am humbled beyond word for all you folks. We love you all and are very grateful to have you in our lives...more to come God Bless everyone of you
  15. Medicat, Here is another option that I made, sorry about the shameless plug, but they do work excellent on the 1st gens for added lights. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/835/cat/6/limit/recent/date/1156391368
  16. Much appreciated Dan, I'm going to have a hard time driving back up north...getting used to the nice temps down here
  17. Well I recognised Boo and Jane, and Alan (Wkboard) You and Lina, looks like a good time was had
  18. Didn't make it on the bike today, but yesterday did about 300 miles on our trip to Victoria TX and the M&E with Hipshot and his band of desperados Happy New Year to you Terry
  19. Thanks JT, I feel bad that we have to leave and I wasn't able to get the problem solved. One thing I hate is a craftsman who does shotty work I appreciate all the help and really enjoyed being able to spend the time with Y'all yesterday
  20. I want to thank all the folks that have offered help and called. I spoke with Thom 440 and we have determined there is possibly a neutral wire off somewhere along the line. I haven't been able to locate it and we have run out of time. What I would like is if anyone local here in Houston that knows of a reliable electrician in the area to have them get ahold of me. My cell # is in my profile and the VR assistance page. This hasn't been right since my mother inlaw purchased the trailer in '97 and I really would like to help her get it right. Thank you all again for the help and Happy New Year
  21. Good lookin' pics....'specially that last one mmmmmmmmmm!!
  22. Nothing to do with the bikes, but I have some questions, or perhaps some insight. Were here at Lonna's moms and I have been working off some small projects. The GFCI plugs aren't working in the bathrooms and from what I gather never have. This is a Mobile home and I purchased a small plug in tester to check the circuts. It states that the hot and ground are reversed, now I wanted to shut the circut off and see if the plugs were the culprit. Can't get the supposed circut to kill the power so I'm not screwing with it any more. What I'm driving at here is there are 3 women and 2 kids here, so they aren't handy with any of this. Do any of our Texas members know of a reputable electrician that can shoot over to N. Houston and get this problem recified. I will more than likely be footing the bill here as Lonna's mom doesn't have a lot of cash to play with. As Always, any help or guidance would be appreciated
  23. Sounds like Y'all had a good time...and saved yourself from a hangover
