Need some insight
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK I'm not loosing my mind, this is exactly what I'm talking about. And you bet that I'm a bit apprehensive about the feeling as it is exactly what my '99 felt like before the accident, almost like the tire was flat. I appreciate the comments and it does seem strange that there are a few of us running Avons that have this issue. Pehaps for certain 1st gens the Avon ins't the best choice Keep the responces coming, thank you all for your input -
How do I remove the Striped Graphics
Squidley replied to philmartin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would try a heat gun and see how it peels off, or seeing your going to paint it anyhow....sand them off -
Thanks JT, you folks are in our thoughts and we are hoping to continue to keep hearing good news....be safe my brother, we love you

I have a question for all you 1st genners. It's been a while since I have owned a 1st gen, and I got to love the riding position of my G2 very much. I have been riding my '86 back and forth to work solo, which I never really did when I owned my other 1st gens as I had a company vehicle. Pretty much all my riding was 2 up and usually I never went over 75 mph. It seems as if now I feel like the bike is getting squirrely, similar to what Marcarl and Wizard 756 were experiencing at high speed (about 80 mph). I have the Avon Venoms on the bike and it seems like the bike is VERY sensitive to input from the handlebars. Almost to the point of me not wanting to ride this bike. I am assuming that a lot of this might be me, but it just doesn't feel like my other 1st gens. Have any of you other riders experienced the bike feeling like this riding solo? I have been playing with the air in the suspension, my rear tire is at max pressure and the front is 5 lbs below max as I tune the suspension for the ride. I have looked at all the rear suspension parts and used a prybar to check for slop, but everything seems tight as far as I can test and feel. I'd appreciate any and all of your thoughts....

Help - Replace desiccant in 1989
Squidley replied to BJB's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
We used to Microwave it in the service as we had it in the tail sections of Helocopters. It absorbed the moisture to keep all the avionics in good shape. -

What scoot are you replacing it with Fozzy

Dave, On the Hella question, it was just replacement H3 bulbs, not an entire set of lights. When I get some time I'll check and see if I can find a distributor on the bulbs. I used to get them through a previous place I worked for as they were replacement bulbs for Forklift headlights.

Dave, Fog lights throw a shorter beam than the driving lights, and dont light up the road as well. A decent set of driving lights will give lots more useable light further up the road. The 35 watt bulbs are what I used, they were made by Hella, but can be hard to find. Here's a post by Lonestarmedic that has the smaller lights that I have seen used http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19714&highlight=Driving+lights If you like these and can't find them locally, let me know and I'll try to stop and get a part # for you to go by....or I'll pick you up a set and ship them

Dan, Get a counsult with an attorney and see what you options are. It would more than likely be a couple hundred bucks but the advise you will get will be the law and not speculation. I agree with getting the DA involved and seeing what options are available there.

It wont hurt it, but I dont mismatch tires. Switch to the Avons front and rear, and you'll be amazed at the handling improvement.

I second putting up the sidestand and trying it, we fixed one of the Michigan members bike that way that had no spark and would turn over, the switch was goofy and once we put the stand up it started.

I had a 5 year practice session before Lonna and I got together. We will be married 11 years this June, and I've know her for about 22 years. Not too many women that will put up with me, she must have bumped her head in the same place I did

Squidley replied to Landpig's topic in Watering Hole
The weight and speed rating of the tire, make sure you look at the load index and get the heavier load rating.
