  1. As long as we take away his GPS we'll be fine....he can be one of the tailgunners
  2. Thats why this place is the best on the web, something tells me we need to get another order of bells together ...and your right Charlie, they dont come much better than Bob & Becky
  3. Got it Don, we'll get you squared away
  4. I hear you Jack, the $4K would be the most I would spend and thats with putting about $3K into it afterwards to have a nice looking solid bike. Then you right at the value of a good used one. I know you and you'll tell him how it is should you decide to go for it. I would like to have one like that for a second bike to burn the miles on back and forth to work....which is a 100+ miles a day
  5. Might have to have Lonna take a look at that one
  6. I wouldn't think a whole lot as your right, it would be a project. Now it's mentioned about Vmax cams being installed, did he do it himself or have it professionally done? I dont trust many people for doing internal engine work, as I have seen some hacks. I wouldn't go any higher than $4000 for it, probably less, it's not in very good shape at all. You can find one for $7K that would basically need nothing, 0.98 less than a buck
  7. Don, I have sets made up now as I was able to procure more steel, so anytime your ready is cool. There have been others that have used the clamps off of the stock mufflers, but you will ruin the stockers by cutting them off. I have always used the aftermarket clamps from V twin as they look stock and work great. Punching the baffles out of the mufflers is just like was mention. It's not loud until you get on it and it barks out nice, not obnoxious. Same here, if you have questions shoot me a PM or call, my #'s in my profile. Here's the link to the clamps that I use. http://www.chopperscycle.com/page/VTS/PROD/42-264/24032
  8. Bill, I want to thank you for stepping up to the plate, I can only speak for me, but I appreciate the trek your about to go on. I'll also throw my hat in and if you need advise or someone to handle whatever you desire with the rally. I'm excited that we have an area to look into planning to go.....come on '09
  9. Your alright Buddy, I'll get you some moolah off here shortly....BTW you do a pretty good job here, I think we'll keep you on
  10. Good Job Pops!....now isn't there some other upgrades you could be doing
  11. The funny thing about what you had happen to you is....it happens often. The folks here are unreal, thats why this site is the place it is....good on ya
  12. :banana:Congrats Brian!!!
  13. Very good points here, personally for me is a shotgun 12 or 20 gauge. Now I'm not some hardass, but if it's me or them, sorry but goodbye. Like mentioned you have to be committed to use a gun towards another person, 1 second of hesitation and your dead. If you don't think you can do it, don't bother with a gun, get an alarm system.
  14. 2nd gear I'm not positive, but I dont believe that there will be any problems as the motor is a direct bolt in. The carbs from your 1200 might be an issue, I know some others will chime in on that. The electronic should all be the same too as it is an '85, the '83 had a different TCI if I'm not mistaken. Hang tight I know there will be other that will chime in, I know it has been sucessfully done. BTW.....Welcome to the club!
  15. Don has mentioned it and so have I, someone has to step up to the plate. That being said, it is not like trying to sink a battleship as it may seem. There are quite a few of us that have experience in hosting a rally and there is lots of experience to draw off from. I can only say this for me, but I will be willing to assist whomever decides to step up and host one. I can handle the t shirt order if we decide to do that or hall rentals if thats the case. I know there are many folks willing to help, all that is needed is to ask for it and you would be surprised how many folks will be there.
  16. Run it to the rev limiter hard and I believe he'll have a new found respect for rice
  17. Lonna and I are members, and have attended several functions. Very sobering talking with folks that have lost a loved one, but it's enormous the compassion they feel. it's a very good thing to do.
  18. Great news Tate, let her know were thinking about her and wish her a speedy and limited pain recovery
  19. Looks good to me, wouldn't mind seeing that one up close and how you fabbed it all up, nice work
  20. By like what.....4 days
  21. I have been thinking about you often lately here Don, this is good news indeed. Keep fighting the fight and we'll keep putting a bug in the mans ears for you
  22. I would like to think that anyone that has every been down on a bike knows the importance of a good helmet. I doubt that I would be here today if I wasn't wearing one the 2 times I have been down
  23. Please excuse my outburst there Maineac, last spring I went through LOTS of aggrivation with them. I sent them the stator out of my '99 so they could test the stock stator out and see about upgrading one for the RSV. I had nothing but problems with them and they installed it back in the cover wrong. Wouldn't return phone calls or anything, very sore spot for me with that company and I always let folks know about not using them OK off rant
  24. Some folks would gladly take out the "ridin'" part of your statement, but I do try to get in as much saddletime as I can
