Thank you Lewis, I did recieve it and do appreciate all that your doing for this my friend A huge thanks to all of the folks at the ES rally and to Terri and Mike for their added contribution to the cause Jeff thats cool with getting Gene the money, no sweat my friend. I also would like to thank you for the offer of the "Canvas" but if we can't make the minimum I would still like it to just be me, unless others here want to have it that way. I'm just steering this, I dont control it...the memebers control this. We have had a little influx of cash come in and now our total sits at $1802.79. We are just $1200 short of our goal...so we'll have to see if it will be a photo finish, and it looks like it may come right down to the wire if we do make the $3K mark

Dont sweat it Brian, the 1300 motor is just about as bulletproof as you can get. Just to shut Paul up throw in some Vmax cams and springs while you have it out and then let "The Rocket" try to catch you

Which brake fluid??????
Squidley replied to Royal Venturer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use a fluid by Valvoline, it's call Synpower and it is compatable with DOT 3 & 4. As mentioned DOT 5 is Silicone based and will not work, 5.1 wont either. Lynn mentioned about flushing the entire system out, which is sound advise. It will take a bit of time but you wont have anymore headaches, give a call if you need more help, the phone is always on. Here is a pic of the bottle -
Good lookin' bike there, almost just like the '86 I sold Kbran. I'm sure he'll get many miles out of it if you have anything to say about it

Had a '79 CB750K back in the late '80's with a vetter fairing and trunk. Neat bikes and I thought that one was big....good luck on the project and looking forward to seeing it all done and drivin'

I suppose my answer isn't like some of the others. The factory radio is at best marginal, and unless you have the Royale model with a CB I would just replace it...here's why. The stock radio doesn't put out much power and you can't put bigger (read more power handling) speakers in without them sounding bad. You can upgrade yourself to the latest technology and buy a radio with a CD player and Auxillary plug in to run an MP3 player which is really the way to go. The Aux jack will also allow the use of Sattelite radio or a GPS. I suppose it's all in how much time and money you want to toss at the stock sterio. It might be something, which you can check for, but if it starts taking hours upon hours to diagnose, then I would probably let it go. Not that it matters, but if it were me and it didn't have the CB...I would replace it all and have a better sounding system for probably right around $200.....0.98 cent's less than a buck

Got a voice message from Gunboat at about 12:30 and he said all is well. They lost power so he wont be on till he get himself some juice, but all the Houston crew is doing OK Might be just me, but it seems that this cane crapped out fairly quick. I have seen them sit in 1 spot and tear everything up

I hope the world is spinning a little slower for you Ken. Dont know what it was that got you down, but I hope that it doesn't come back...be safe and know that we are here

Saddlebag Quick Removal Bolt Set
Squidley replied to Highway Star's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mike, It could probably be done, but you would still have to go inside the bags to remove the items from around the fasteners. It would be double hard if you had the saddlebag rails to come up with a sliding mechanism like the 1200 1st gens had. I have the bags and like them well enough, but there might be some that will brainstorm an idea like you talk about -
We got him taken care of, I had the same problem on my '08 and it turned out to be the filter itself. The dish in some of the filters is more shallow and will hit the nut at the end of the threads before the filter gasket is actually seated. He's going to run to Walmart and pick up one of the super tech filters

We just did WkBoards on his '99RSV at the Detroit maintenance day and turned his out 4 1/4 turns. Now I guarantee you that you need to have the carbs syncronised. I dont know if you have a Carbtune or Mercury sticks, but that will almost 99% for sure take away your popping. Once you mess with the mixture screws, your carb sync is off.
