Thinking of getting rid of the 130 Avon front tire
Squidley replied to 1BigDog's topic in Watering Hole
Smart Man...go with leveling links and the 150 front, I'll not go back to the 130, 1 time was enough with the type of riding we do. -
I am going to build my next one with the help of my guru neighbor. I WONT be giving Bill Gates anymore of my money, I'm going to go with Linux on this next one and go from there, Microsoft just irritates me to no end, so I will refuse to support them in any future computers...theres more than 1 way to have an operating system.

Hey Folks, Some of you local folks know that I have a very good friend that owns a Honda dealership in Richmond, Michigan here called Peak Powersports. http://peakhonda.com/default.asp Quincey and I have been good friends for right at 10 years and I would do anything for him. I lead a charity ride that a few of our members participated in last September..... Anywho. He has a great sale going on right now until Febuary 20th on Dunlop tires. I know there are quite a few of you folks that like the Dunlops and I'm going to do everything I can to give him a shot in the arm as the economy here in Michigan is sucking badly. Deal is he needs to get orders for 20 of tires by Feb 20th and his distributor will give him a great discount. He is passing the saving on and has offered this up. If you place an order and pay for the tires before Feb 20th he will mount and balance the new tires on your rims that you bring to him for FREE. He will also do them if you bring in the bike, but you'll be charged the labor for taking them off the bike and back on. His prices are VERY competitive with the online stores and he stands behind what he does. I dont put my name on many things or companies that I dont trust, Q is one of the best. If your local here in Michigan and are needing tires for whatever scoot you own (That includes dirt bikes and ATV's) please give him a call and see what he will do for you. Quincey is the owner and his youngest son Nick works for him as well. Check them out as they have a lot to offer

This is just me thinking out loud, but why would you need more advanced weather. Not meaning to be a smart alec but if your in a Hotel/Motel you look at the weather channel before you leave for the day and see if your going to at some point be heading into bad weather. As far as traffic doesn't the GPS give you a heads up of traffic snags if your headed in that direction

Trust me...he is If you decide to go West, all the way to the coast, (BTW the coast highway IS worth that distance) keep in mind that you would be pushing it a bit on a 30 day trip @ 300 miles a day. Lonna and I did a 10000 mile 28 day trip in '06 and granted we hit 3 rallys we had to push it hard a few days (750 + mile days) and never less than 500 miles on any of the traveling days. If you make it north to my neck of the woods I'll offer you the same as I do anyone on this site. A hot meal and a nice bed to sleep in, I'll even show you a few nice places here in Michigan

How do you take apart a diaphram
Squidley replied to BnkrBill's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The slide and diaphram are 1 piece and as mentioned by Mini the needle is the removable part. You should take the diaphrams and hold them up to a bright light and look through them for holes. Also I have seen where folks have installed them wrong and the edge was folded over and not working properly. The 1st gen is very picky on the air box and it doesn't take much for it to make it a bit out of whack. Here are a few pics just for grins -
I honestly dont know how much I have lost, not much unfortunately. I have been working on changing my eating habits and eating less. I also have been doing a lot of stretching and walking all 10 stories of the stairs at work twice, I can feel the difference. It sucks as I was really getting to feel good last week early and then my back acted up. I spent all last weekend and up till thursday this week taking it easy as not to aggrivate it. Yesterday it was back to the routine and it felt good (although the weight lifting is making me hurt pretty good) It sounds like many of you are on a good path and are getting into a solid routine. Just remember to keep things liveable, I know that mentally training myself to scale back on eating and desserts is a big challenge. I'm real proud of all you folks for sticking to it, no matter how much we loose, it's good for all of us as we'll hopefully be around a lot longer to drive eachother nuts

Wayne, I have to say that if you do an east coast US/Canada trip then I would suggest that you see some of the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. The "Mighty Mac" is a sight to behold and ride across. Michigan (outside of the SE portion) is a very beautiful state. The NW lower Pennisula is very nice, the Tunnel of Tres is a place to see and pretty much everything on the west side of the state. Post up an route and you might be surprised who would come to ride a bit with you...give a call or PM and I'll see if I can get you a few points of interest
