Thom, This is exactly what I did with my '99, took several ads for '99's and what market value was. Dont let them off the hook, we'll find you some bikes that you can say "here it is"

Gary, As with all the other, best of luck with it. We had a young woman have it done at work and she's dropped about 50 lbs since having it done around Thanksgiving. Just remember it's a lifestyle change and you have to be in it mentally. As always we are here for you and I'm very excited to see how you do with it...be safe my friend. PS: Here's to you being Half the man you are

I haven't been dropping a lot of weight, but I have noticed that my endurance is increasing and my back isn't as sore. I would definitely like to loose weight, but I like the idea that my efforts are making me stronger. It will come off eventually, we all just have to keep at it. It's a lifestyle change, not a sprint, remember that and it puts it in a much easier perspective to keep at it BTW I'm still real proud of all of you folks for making the effort and for a good cause

Murph, I'm with Boomer 100% you probably recieved the wrong oil in the bike. I run the same as the Chief and I haven't had any issues with my '08 and it has 9300 miles on it. Change the oil out and put non energy conserving in it, it might take a couple of oil changes to completely get the slippage gone.

Here is a simple idea that doesn't require a rear end swap (which I plan on doing) Install a Dyna 3000 chip in the bike, it allows you to dial in the timing curve and increase the rev limiter. Here's one on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dyna-3000-Ignition-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-RSTD-99-08_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43976QQihZ015QQitemZ250371876797QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I'll throw this in FWIW I have run many different brands on 1st and 2nd gens. I currently have an '08 with the factory Dunlops on them, and I HATE them. To me Dunlops (404's not the E3's) are terrible in the rain and track a tar snake just as bad. Many like them, but for my riding style I dont. I LOVE, let me say this again LOVE Avon Venoms and will always ballyhoo them, I have also run the Michelin Commanders and they run a close second to the Avons. Goose has dont some extensive research on different tires and has given some very in depth and honest opinions. Just like everything in life, dont take our words for it, test some out, your riding style is different than mine perhaps.

Disappearing fuel

Just for giggles check the oil level in the crank case, if for nothing more than being over cautious. The paper underneath is a great idea too, run it and see where it's coming from. -
Chris, It's good to see that YOU are telling us this story, any crash you can walk away from is a blessing. I do hope that you folks can find this puke and get some justice out of this. As always if you need something let us know, even if an ear to chew on....we'll be here. Take your time and heal up, you'll get back in the wind soon....be safe.

That a good idea also, I have a set of lights on my '08 right now that have H4 bulbs in them. This meaning that they are low/high beams and I have them hooked up to the headlight so all 3 are switched low or high with the handlebar switch. I always run my driving lights on when I'm riding, day or night. I'm all about being seen and more lights up front is better

Need a carb question answered
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No worries my friend, thank you for thinking of me on this one -
It's interesting of the responces here, and let me add that I am not saying to ride with your high beams on day and night in traffic. I hear a lot of mention about more lights, sorry to say that if they dont see 1-55 watt halogen light, they're probably not going to see 3. I'll add this too that I have totally missed a bike with LOW beams on and I look for them. I didn't know their lights were on until they were a few feet from me. Properly aimed lights are a big problem too, look at all your new vehicles and tell me how bright their low beams are. I too have been instructed by teachers of motorcycle saftey courses to run with your high beams on during the day. I have done that for 20 years and unless there has been some huge change in their thinking, I will continue to do it. I'm all about being seen on my bike, and I will use every means available to make that happen

I actually took care of him....look closely

There are replacement 35 watt bulbs to be had as I swapped over when I installed them on my 1st gen. I used them as additional lighting on the 1st gens as there wasn't enough light for my liking. It will impact the charging system a bit, but nothing drastic unless you have tons of extras added on. I always had the ones I installed on a separate fuse with a direst connection to the battery and a relay installed.

PCW racing in Schenectady NY, John Ganey is the man to talk to http://www.pcwracing.net/ I have installed his clutch kit in a dozen or so 1st and 2nd gens, less than $100 and can be installed in about an hour on the 1st gens. I'll never use anyone else and his service is top notch

Sorry to say that I disagree... I run with my brights on all day everyday, and when people flash me I kindly wave back at them (no not with my middle finger) as the high beam has done it's job. I would much rather piss someone off than have them tell my widowed wife "I didn't see him"

I know we have a lot of smart cookies here, and I need a question answered. I am currently working on an '86 for one of our members and need to know is there any difference between the 1200 and the 1300 cc bikes carburetors? I need the #2 carb as I can't get the Air/Fuel mixture screw out as hard as I have tried. So my question is can the 1200's carb be used on the 1300 engine
