  1. Boy is that an understatement! The gauges look good there, nice job of thinking outside the box

  3. I have run the Michelin Commanders on my '99 and they are a VERY good tire. I am an Avon venom fan as that is my 1st choice for tires on the Venture, but the Commander is a close second. You wont be disappointed with them, your mileage will vary, but I'm an agressive rider and do a lot of 2 up. I had about 13K on my last set.
  4. Dan, That trailer had 8" tire/wheels on it and it was no wider than the width of the bikes saddlebags, so I'm thinking 36" outside to outside. Marcarl has it now so he could give you more detailed measurements. Let me tell you too that it pulled like a dream, I honestly forgot it was behind me at times
  5. Kinda funny, talked to the old man today on the way home. Good to hear that Texan drawl of his. He is doing well and is on track and still stopped smoking...he'll come on soon I'm sure.
  6. Brian, Congrats my friend, very proud of your dedication to the protection of our country. Have a wonderful retirement and thank you again for all the sacrifises you endured for us You too Boomer
  7. You can add me to that list too Chief....I'll be right next to you brother
  8. Now that is funny
  9. Tim, I ordered mine directly from across the pond, you have nothing to worry about. I emailed Sean Morgan several times as I had an issue with the Colortune I also purchased with my Carbtune. He is very stand up and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him or his company again.
  10. Febuary of '05....Thanks to Brad T
  11. Far as I know there is nothing that states you have to fill one out
  12. Let me just interject something here.... I know some folks think that running a traditional ball setup on a bike is less than desireable. I'm here to tell you that your not going to be going crazy in the twisties with a trailer on and if you are then shame on you for being reckless. I pulled a trailer through the Dragon with my '86 LOADED and the trailer loaded. I never once had an issue with the lean angle and this was going through the Dragon as fast as I dared push the bike. Ask Freebird, Eddie or E-Fishin-C about that The way I see it, that ball has a descrepancy, another moving part to wear out or break. Not slamming anyone or the part, but it doesn't seem like a needed extra on a system that works pretty well to me. FWIW I have about 30000 miles logged pulling a trailer behind several different Ventures.
  13. Joe, Glad to see that you got something rolling, nice looking Freightliner Stop in and visit us when you can...be safe out there.
  14. I agree with Joe, it's a mechanical warranty, Yamaha doesn't have any control over how folks take care of their bikes or where they live. Thats not meant anything against you personally, but I don't think your going to be able to get anything out of them. Back many years ago I used to hunt your foreign counterparts, HSL 36 in Mayport Florida ASW with SH2F's Glad to have you here with us.
  15. I agree, gonna be iffy, worst case sell it back on ebay and get the right one
  16. The Devcon mentioned is some REAL good stuff, I use it at work and it can be tapped. What I will say about welding it, it can be done, but dont let some shmoe do it. The part will have to be extremely clean, Muriatic acid does well with aluminum. It also needs to be pre heated prior to striking an arc. If you have any grease or solvent at all on it the aluminum will pop and your really screwed then. Choose wisely young Skywalker, and may the force be with you....
  17. As much as you might like to throttle him, talk nice and see if he'll take it back. If it gets ugly and it's a blatant mis representation then I would contact ebay and let them know. Do you have a listing of the auction that you can post here for us to see?
  18. Good to hear it was something simple and you got it back on track
  19. Nice work Tom!
  20. John, It pays for itself on the 1st use and then you KNOW the job is done right. I have seen too many people on this site go to a dealer to get their bikes synced and it not be right after we checked it with the Carbtune. I have done many different bikes with mine too, Vtwins and triples alike....break out the Benjamin
  21. Can't wait to see it, I am REaDy right now
  22. FWIW I'm not sure that I like the setup of that rack. It also only has 1 point of contact and that would be where the ball is bolted as you would have to remove it to use the rack. Many folks use the Reece style hitch like the one that Venturedad makes, I have had one of them and liked it very well. Kromeworks makes a hitch for the Venture that has a plate with the ball installed on it. I made one out of Aluminum and pinned it into my Reece hitch and it worked well. I thought that there was another rack made with that setup that could be bought. I'll see if I can dig it up and hopefully someone will have a link to it.
  23. You know I just bought a new Ryobi with 2 batteries, we should be good. But thanks for thinking of me
  24. I wasn't VP, but worked right next to a VP sqadron at Selfridge Air national guard base in Mt. Clemens MI. P3 Orions in Michigan. We also worked with VP's as I was in an anti submarine helo sqadron in Mayport Fl. Played wargames and seek and destroy with the P3 bunch
  25. Were pretty biased here towards the Venture, they are one of the very best touring bikes out there. I can tell you that my wife and I in '06 did a 28 day 10000 mile romp across the country on my then '99. You will not regret upgrading to the Venture, the comfort is top notch and we did several 750+ mile days during our trip. BTW have you found an '08 that your thinking about?
