Pics are a bit small Gerry, little tough to see, but I would want to comment on a few things. The trunk seems a bit high up, and it looks like it would be too far back and take away all your tounge weight when it was loaded, I would definitely not put it there as your handling would be drastically affected. I think that I would stick with just the saddlebags and put some sort of cooler rack in front of them to give you more tounge weight. I have had an idea to do just what your doing with 2nd gen saddlebags for a few years now. I just haven't had the extra monies to get all the parts and just do it. Doesn't look like I'll be able to get to it anytime soon either Mine would be a 2 wheel trailer as the G2 bags open from the top and not the sides. With one wheel I would want to keep the bags as close to the ground as feasable to keep a low center balance point. Your onto a good idea and I do hope that some others will chime in and spread somne fabricating knowledge

Count me as 3 I had a 130 Venom on the front of my 2nd '99 and it didn't feel solid at highway speeds. I was blown around a lot more with it then when I had the 150. The Avons WILL make the bike handle better with the 150. Personally I would go with the 150 and a set of leveling links, but thats just my opinion

Randy is spot on with the advise, common problem with the 1st gen Ventures. The fuel filter is above the swing arm on the left side, it's a PITA to get to if you dont know where it's at. Like Randy also mentioned best time to replace it is with the rear tire off, I'll try to get a pic on here later for you.

Squidley replied to motorbiketim's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Tim, Nice vision on the Venture Just like Dan mentioned, excellent thinking outside the box, I hope to see both yours and Zaggers one of these days -
Lewis, As long as you like it thats all that counts, it's yours and your customizing it how you want it. It will look different and thats a good thing

It would more than likely take a couple of oil changes to rid the engine of any suspected wrong oil. You may need to look into changing out the springs as many bikes, both 1st & 2nd gens seem to develope a slipping around the miles you have, depending on how they were ridden. Make sure you have the proper oil 1st, if it doesn't go away I would statrt to look into upgrading the clutch with springs.

Open up the front fairing and check all the connectors behind it. Take them apart and make sure they are clean and put some Dilectric grease in the plugs and put them back together making sure you push hard. This would be the 1st place I would start and then start the troubleshooting process, let us know how you do. -
Show Chrome "plastic" gas tank cover
Squidley replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not that this means anything, 'specially out of me but I dont care for the chrome cover there. It just seems very flimsy to me and I know they scratch very easily. I know a few guys that replace them every couple of year or less. I haven't heard of any of the contacting with the handlebars. I ended up covering my stock one in leather and I really like it a lot, but I'm into leather accents on the bike -
Battery Cables??
Squidley replied to Bill W.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Terminal Supply is an excellent company, that where I bought all the materials when I was making the battery cables. They have these nice little solder slugs that I used, they worked a treat -
A little late, but here's some pics of my "new" scoot!!!

I was thinking the same thing, the TD looks great, love the color combo. Inquiery minds like Autopilot and myself would like to hear your take on the Valk. You can PM us if you dont want to feel like your betraying your Yamaha -
It's not necessarily a glue, but a coating that keeps the metal to metal contact from not happening. This helps in the brake pads not chattering and sqealing when you apply the brakes. I use this product http://www.crcindustries.com/ei/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=05017&S=Y you spray it on the back of the brake pads and let it tack up and install the brakes. This is what might be on there. I use this on every brake application that I do ccle or auto.

Independent suspension, do all ther Hannigan trikes have that or is it an option versus the strait axle?

Thanks doesn't go to me, it goes to Cecdoo, he was the one who pretty much gave it to me. I'm just glad that both of us could pass it along to a worthy cause. Congrats 1Rooster on your win

Seeing this is back up top.... I have an idea that I'm going to toss out here. We know that there are a few folks that bust their humps off working on Maintenance day. I said that was going to change for me and I'm going to keep that promise to myself. I have just bought a brake bleeder vaccum kit and it works great. I will step up and say that I will be willing to do the fluid changes on the bikes during maintenance day. I also like the idea that has been toss around about stations for specific repairs. It wont be long before it's here so we should get an idea on how we want to run it

I like it Dennis, looks real good

Cindy, It WILL all work out, 1 day at a time and he will go to prison. I can only imagine your feelings, but we are here with you in every step, the phone is always on Kiddo and you know we love you folks.

Absolutely YES, as mentioned above in most states I know of it's illegal not to have them on. I have seen 1st hand what happens when a trailer comes unhitched and had no chains on. 2 seconds separated Lonna and I from being roadkill as I had a trailer come off in from of us while we were on the bike.

I cringe everytime I hear someone loosing a rear tire, very glad to hear the bike took the beating and not Tom. Hoping for a fast recovery and sending our best -
Lutz, I do understand where your coming from as I have used a cam wheel (albiet many years ago) I will play with it a bit more, there wasn't really any issue with the bike. I believe it was more carbs than anything. Thank you all again for pounding into my thick head, I'm somewhat a hard sell on things some times. It's always good to get these things out in the open here on the site so many of us can learn new things, I appreciate all you folks help
