If you can get that car for $2K I wouldn't hesitate, that 3800 is a great motor and the mileage will be decent also

Beware using your debit card at the gas pump
Squidley replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Interesting.... But here in SE Michigan they charge you more for gas if you use credit. I'm not sure of the debit, but I dont believe that if you use debit that they charge you the higher rate. I could be wrong on this, all I ever use is my debit card to fuel up. I have never had any issues at all with using it, and I always use it right at the pump -
Hey Folks, Dave Pankow can't seem to get a break with his 1st gens. I am helping him work on a no spark issue and it's looking like it's a TCI or in his case being a '90 VR a DCI. It appears that '90 was when they went to the different control system for the spark, so anything before '90 wont work on his bike. MICarl has been helping us with this problem and is of the belief also that this may be the culprit. What I need to know if some of you pack rats out there have a good spare TCI (DCI) that we can test his bike against. This would only be to verify if in fact this is the problem, if anyone can help him out it would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me or Dave (Jus monkeyin around) and let us know...Thanks in advance

The 1stGen fork brace and fork springs
Squidley replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When replacing the front springs they need 1 to 2000 miles before they are properly broke in and seated where they want to be. Give it some time and if it's still harsh go to 10 wt oil -
Cindy, Like they have both mentioned, dont loose your cool, this is one more nail in this guys coffin and you can do it. You keep remembering that your in control and like mentioned if he interrupts you just let him know it. You'll be just fine and will do what you need to do, were all behind you kiddo....you have the phone # use if you have to

Gary, Lonna and I were married at Tehquamenon Falls in the Upper pennisula, I would definitely recommend that, also Whitfish point. 119 north of Petosy is called the "Tunnel of Trees" (I believe) and is a ride that I have heard about but never done. The western lower is a great place no matter where you ride. Wish we could accompany you along part of that trip.

You beat me to it by 60 seconds...I was just about to post one up Happy Fathers Day to all you Muthas ( and those that aren't Muthas) out there

If I had to use it on gravel I would put a sheet of plywood under it or a sheet of steel. I dont know that I would trust any MC jack on gravel

Dick, No need for a relay on the LED's just a fuse inline. If your game for a road trip your more than welcome to shoot up here to Michigan and we can wire them in. There is a spare room here and your more than welcome to it

That looks very similar to the craftsman jack that I use. Can't hardly go wrong as they are all made in China anymore so they perform basically the same....I'd go for it if your looking for one.

Do you have a backrest? I can tell you and many here will attest that without a backrest 2 to 300 miles is all you'll get out of an enjoyable ride before fatigue sets in. The 1st 2 things I put on every bike I get is a backrest and highway pegs. There is lots of good info here on this thread, I have heard great things about Rick Butler and the magic he performs on seats. He makes a tailbone relief in them and I know several people here that say it's night and day as far as long range comfort. I wouldn't throw in the towel yet, if you dont have a backrest....get one, and PM Rick to get your seat modified

HA! Isn't that fun, I love doing it to the Camaros and such. You should see the looks on their faces when they can't get around me
-
Not at all, I have seen your bike personally and it's a one of a kind. You did a fantastic job of redoing the paint and to me that makes your bike worth more money than a standard midnight

I'll probably start up another savings account just for the St. Judes monies to keep it strait unless you want me to send it all to you

Lewis, Tom said it perfectly, it was YOU that 1st thought of this as far as adopting St. Judes. I know you work tirelessly to keep us all aware of St. Judes and we are very proud of you. I am but a grunt for this cause, your the commander and I'm happy and proud to be able to help you with this cause. I'm glad you like your hat, it's sent with lots of love, even if it took you 7 months to get it Thanks for all you do my friend, you are one of the biggest reasons that this place is what it is

The cat isn't going to hurt your flow, dont worry about it, just use it. The pipes are pretty much side specific, you wont be able to install the opposite side on as no mounting holes will be present. If your going to remove the baffle plates I suggest that you drill 1/4" holes in them instaed of cutting them out with a hole saw. Law enforcement in some areas are giving tickets for modification of mufflers by sticking night sticks in the rear of the pipes. If it goes in without hitting that plate, your getting a ticket. With the 1/4" holes it will still leave enough web in there to stop anything shoved in it.

I think a lot of us get that itch, but once we ride a different machine we realise how nice our bikes are. I myself sold my '08 due to financial reasons, I now have an '89 VR that I still have to pick up. That being said when I get back in a good enough financial state to get something newer I am going to shop around and try some different things. One will be a Honda Valkyrie Interstate, so go out and shop around, take some for rides, but you might find your RSV for all it's shortcomings will be the one you really love

It's sad that it's an all of a sudden thing, I know other here that it happens just like that and I know they are good with their maintenance on the tires. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Kenda's. We'll have to work on getting hooked up again, good seeing you at MD
