Steve, I was just on their website and I like what I saw. I have done the truck thing and if you think about it, it's a more money and aggrivation. Right now I'm heavily leaning towards the ABF U pack....Thank you to all that have posted up comments, I really appreciate it

Well many of you know that Lonna and I are headed towards Texas, Tennessee is an awsome state, but there are too many from michigan and the surrounding states headed there. What I need from some of you folks is options for moving. We have done the Pensky trucks before and I know about them. Seems right now it's a supply and demand thing and they are truly rediculous in price. I thought about the PODS thing, but they want more paperwork filled out than when I joined the Military, just to get a quote. Needless to say I am not impressed. Please let me know of any of your experiences and avenues for shipping the household to Texas. I'm not necessarily looking for someone to come in and pack it all, we can handle that. I'm just looking for options and obviously a good price, right now it's looking like a $3K deal if we rent a truck and the fuel and whatnot....I'm not impressed with that either I'll be keeping an open mind and hopefully we'll get some alternate ideas, as always, Thanks in advance.

Yeah I did Dan, rode it yesterday for about 5 hours. I dont need the CB, those are the old pics before Dave Pankow finished cleaning the button on the CB and before I installed the new windshield. I think your idea to go aftermarket is a good one, too much BS to try and hook into the factory wiring for the PTT button and whatnot. I saw a compact CB at Radio Shack the other day that looked just the right size for the bike. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?retainProdsInSession=1&productId=2102653&numProdsPerPage=60&tab=summary

Brad and Rick are on the money, air pressure wont cure weak springs, the air is just an assist. The fork oil is another good thought, I would just swap out with a new set of fork springs and change the oil while your at it. You know your good to go then and can start to enjoy the new ride

Front pad life....
Squidley replied to bugfish69's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The front normally will wear for a decent amount of miles. If you noticed that one side was a bit thinner than the other you should swap them front to back to even the wear. The back wears badly on the inside and should be swapped inside to out at every or every other oil change. -
Thats a fair price, I just bought my '89 about a month ago with 101K on the clock for $1900....you better grab it.

Chuck, Depending upon what you want, those are decent options. I know that many of our Canadian friends have the J&M handlebar systems that have the CB in them also. Like anything I would make sure whatever you purchase has an aux jack so an Ipod or MP3 player can be plugged in. Here's the J&M site and the unit I am talking about http://www.jmcorp.com/Static/jmcb-2003.htm

How many times do I have to tell you Carl...USE YOUR HEAD! it's a lot harder than your knee Best of luck in the quick healing, and if you can swing it I'd say take the cage also

I bought my '89 with over 100K on the clock for $1900, it wasn't exactly what I expected, but it cleaned up very nicely and had been garage kept. $4K for a 1st gen it better be pretty near mint and always garage kept. If it was left outside in the elements, cut that price in half. The one that Freebird is selling for a friend is a great bike with lots of bling, and I would say that ones worth the $4K mark, give or take.

Is the title clear! Holy hell and I thought I stole my 1st '99 when I bought it 4 years ago for $5200. You have just about hit the lottery with that one I see some Diamond R goodies on there and lots of bling, definitely right place at the right time....good on ya

Nate, Sorry to hear of your situation, many have mentioned, and I will concur, in the end it's for the best. I have gone through it too and it's another life lesson. Be there for the younguns and we'll be here for you, best of luck with getting it over and moving on.

Herb, Yamabond or a good quality high temp RTV will work, no worries about it getting too hot for those products. -
I'd be game....but not sure on the flights out

Is it perhaps bent at the pivot point? Compared to your RSV how much more lean does it have -
Basic engine performance upgrade recomendations

I was going to mention the vmax rearend as it seems you want more seat in the pants acceleration. The Dana will increase the rev limiter to almost 7500 rpms and you can advance the timing curves with it. -
Thats the spirit Lowell! You definitely didn't earn that Ambassador title from being a wallflower
