  1. I had an 750 Interceptor V4 when I was in the service, that was the most comfortable crotch rocket I had ridden back in the day. I topper her out going south on A1A at 145....that was fast enough.
  2. Be safe and have a good time
  3. If you want to ride well down in the lower 40's and below, get a heated inner liner and a good leather jacket. I have a pair of deerskin lined gauntlet gloves that I also wear as well as a very good pair of leather chaps. I have ridden my RSV to work in the upper 20's and yes it was cold, but only for a little bit. It really all depends upon you and your tolerance for cold, the heated liner really makes a huge difference as it will keep your core warm and the rest will follow.
  4. Unfortunately Lonna and I wont be able to do the ride this year. I have a charity ride for the Sabrina Black foundation that I promised a friend I would lead for him. As always Thank You for grabbing the bull by the horns and making this happen. You do us very proud trumpeting this cause and handing it over to St. Judes personally And for anyone on the fence about going, dont hesitate. This is a ride and an event that will never leave you, it's moving to say the least.
  5. Cindy, Did you find the one for me, if not I'd be in for another order
  6. Hold the phone...where am I going that I dont know about
  7. Chuck, What Boo mentioned is good advise, the 1200's had the problem with the oil porting on the stator, there was a fix incorporated in the '85's I believe. The 1300's '86 to '93 didn't have this issue. There is an aftermarket stator upgrade that will help, but I have never done one and haven't had issues with any of the stators in the 4 1st gens I have owned. If the deal is right, make it happen, there is plenty enough advise here to help you with any and every problem you might have. I'm so confident in the 1st gens that I just bought an '89 with 102K on it and have been riding it with no worries as I know it's a pretty bulletproof bike.
  8. Here are some pics of how I tie my 1st gen down, the G2 is similar, but I remove the drivers seat for the 2 side up high straps. Triple tree in the front as the fork setup is a bit different. The rear crash bars are a good point or their in on the frame for the back.
  9. The CLASS is a love or hate...or both. I have removed the system from a couple of my 1st gens because I couldn't get it to work right even with soldering. You can install the air lines from a standard Venture as they didn't have the fancy system. KISS is the main thing here Keep it stupid simple, if this '89 I just got gets to the point where the CLASS gives the ghost I will do the same thing to it without hesitation.
  10. Good to see both of you and the kids again Rick. Kinda surprised you at Vogel from what I understand Glad your trip was a good one and you know once we get into TX you'll have a winter area to come down to when you need a defrosting
  11. Welcome to the hole.....now you understand why I politely declined your offer to see about working over there Make the best of it, lots of opportunities for making money, lots more for personal growth. It's gonna be 1 hell of a M&E when you get back stateside Be safe and dont push the limits there, as much as you want to BTW....Like the others have said, let us know what we can send you. Keep in mind that bartering and trade value stuff comes in handy too
  12. Hey All, Real quick Lonna and I are back in Michigan. We had the most awsome time this last 2 1/2 weeks and can't thank everyone enough for their generosity. Too tired to talk so I will catch up with all y'all (that be plural southern style) Thanks again for an awsome vacation!
  13. Karl, As always if there is anything we can do let me know, all the best my friend, your in our thoughts
  14. Problem with that bike is you would start to have a lot of work to it. If someone was going to buy it and start to really ride it, the gaskets would almost certainly start to leak and so many other issues of a bike that has basically sat for 20 years. Definitelt not worth what the bids got to
  15. I am still in Charlotte at the nieces house and stopped at the local Yamaha dealership, Interstate Cycles. http://www.interstatecycle.com/ They have a MM on cosignment, with a bit over 11K on it for $8K. The bike is as near perfect as I have ever seen one and if I had the money I would buy in a second. It has saddlebag guards, a trunk rack, passing lights with visors on all turn signals and headlight. The bike is really a super nice machine and if your looking for a MM then I would highly recommend this one. Contact guy is Kevin and I mentioned to them that I would post it up on the site.
  16. Kinda personal preference, myself I dont know that I would paint a Millenium, especially #3 That being said it's personal expression and you only live once. If you can find a Midnight and buy it I would do that and sell the MM in it's original skin.
  17. Good to see you and Terry again at The Hub Tom, glad you folks made it home safe
  18. Dan, It was good to see you again at Vogel with Jeff, enjoy that new scoot
  19. Dave, The whole issue isn't of voicing ideas, it's about it going on a confrontational path. I have been helping moderate this site for going on 4 years now and have seen all kinds of "voicing of ideas" The problem is, is that folks will try and bully their ideas into a conversation, or just plainly stir the pot to get a responce. Like mentioned by Dano, if you want to talk about politics or other subjects that have emotional impact, do it face to face. Lots of things get taken out of context on an open forum. Thanks for your thoughts.
  20. That is to report a post Dave, so yes use that should you need to get ahold of us or PM us directly
  21. Curtis, Your in our thoughts, many more miles to ride my friend...it will all work out as it should.
  22. I would hate to see us have to become that heavy handed, we try very hard as moderators to let freedom of speech play out. Sometimes we just need to bump the forum in the right direction. I will say that being a moderator isn't a popularity contest, for the most part we have nothing to watch over as the membership moderates itself very well. Sometimes we just get off track a bit. I hate having to say anything, but there are times when it's necessary. As always, and as Eck has mentioned, if you see a thread heading south PM us and let us know. I can't read all the posts anymore and sometimes I miss something. I can honestly say that all of the mods and admin appreciate all the folks we have here. By and far you folks dont cause us any real headaches....Thank you
  23. Vogel is always a hit, I always tell new members to make it there if they can swing it, this year was our 3rd time
  24. On the 1300cc's I haven't heard of anyone doubling up stock springs. Some folks have doubled the 1200cc's springs as they are set up similar to the Barnett with 6 springs on the pressure plate. The PCW kit replaces the half friction disc in the back of the clutch basket with a full one and eliminates the retaining spring. The spring material the PCW is made with is a higher Rockwell and retains it's stiffness longer. On ALL of the clutch upgrades I have done on both 1st and 2nd gens I have never had to replace any of the friction discs. They have been the exact thickness as the new one that comes in the kit. Here is the link to PCW for those interested. http://pcwracing.net/
  25. Peg, You did absolutely nothing wrong, the decision to close the thread is not aimed at you, there are just too many threads that are stirring up emotions here on the site lately. My talk isn't directed at ANYONE in particular, and I would hope that your being upset will subside and you will continue to be an active poster. I wish you nothing but the best and thank you for all that you have done for the site in the past
