  1. Happy Birthday Dan!!!
  2. Your the prize Rooster....a boobie prize! Glad you got the disc
  3. Keep us posted on where your at and many of us will come to you if your close. If your travels find you in SE Texas around the Houston area give me a shout. Spare room here and we can get some folks together for an impromptu M&E. Enjoy your trip and print out a VR assistance page with you incase you have any issues. Many of us will come and get you should you have a problem on the road.
  4. I know you have needed it Mark, good on ya for being able to get after some wind in your face.
  5. I have had many time doing a carb sync on other members bikes has taken the popping away. It's not a fool proof thing, and leaks in the exhaust as others have mentioned will cause this popping. A good carb sync is a good and easy place to start....
  6. The date on the pic gives it away, and the fact that E-Fishin-C is in it....it was the very 1st rally at Potato Creek in Indiana. Oh and that Don's hair wasn't all gray lol
  7. Mark, I may have a set that came off this '99 I am parting out. Let me check and see if I still have them and I'll get back with you.
  8. As the saying goes, an armed society is a polite society, and were plenty friendly down here in TEXAS!!
  9. Lew, Now this is just me talking, but what killed it for me is that they were only available in white. I would need darker colors as I am a food magnet and the shirt in white would be ruined the 1st time I wore it.....
  10. My primary transportation in the Navy was an '84 650 Nighthawk. I was stationed in Northern Florida and rode it year round. Had a 4 into 1 Kerker header that was obnoxious loud getting after it. Rode that bike all over the place, great machine, never had any issues with it....nice find on yours
  11. Yeah, I have been thinking about an S&S, but it's a crap shoot. I have heard guys say great things about them and others that curse them. I have also pondered taking one of the CV carbs from the later 80's evo's and putting it on. Set it and forget it so to speak, I dont remember if the HD CV's are Mikunis or Kehins. I'll have to get on over to the HD forum and search through their site to get a feel for the S&S's.
  12. Kevin, I'm not sure what the price is, but if your looking for an inexpensive trailer, I would not think twice about using one of the HF motorcycle ones. Get a coupon for 20% off and catch it on sale and for less than $300 you have a decent trailer. I know many folks who have used them and I have pulled a couple myself, just some food for thought.... http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-78-inch-tag-along-trailer-66771.html#.UyTkhvldW5U http://www.harborfreight.com/20off-coupon912-aff-17547.html
  13. The OLD Platinum Hoooter is calling me out. He had mentioned that he was coming to the GREAT state of TEXAS and wanted to possibly meet up for a cuppa joe. I'd have zero issues with traveling 400 miles there and 400 miles back, if he was going to be here say over a weekend. But by God I still have to work and he wants to come in the week....whats up with that!! Balls in your court Woodsie
  14. I had to chuckle a bit when I saw the banana caliper on the back of it. My 79 FLH has 2 of them 1 front and 1 rear, sounded good in the video. What carb is on that bike? right now I have a Bendix/Zenith on mine which is going to change asap.
  15. Holy Hell Puc! With all those pretty colors I thought I was having a flashback!!
  16. I absolutely agree with Gary, 4th pic is toast. I personally wouldn't use that case assembly, and without and excellent welder and machinist you could be looking to have to replace it.
  17. Happy Birthday Buddyro!!!
  18. Joe, I think I would just get it back together and ride it. I have seen smoking engines that have been setting free up with some use and fly right. Perhaps run some Marvel Mystery oil in it, both fuel and crankcase. If there is a sticky ring or such it very well may just free up and not give you another issue...
  19. Very clean install on the wiring, you did a great job, looks real good
  20. Herb, I expect nothing less from a Marine, as the saying goes Semper Fi. I am very happy to hear that your tenacity resulted in this success, and that your getting back in the wind. If you feel up to it, we would LOVE to have you in Waller on the 29th of this month for our MD. If I can help you with anything, please ask it of me. All the best to you my friend!
  21. Bike had no mods on it, completely stock. Floats adjusted per the manual as well as the proper air/fuel mix screw set. I'm not doubting you get that kind of mileage, just stating that myself and several other RSTD bikes I personally know of just dont pull that 40 mpg. You could have great fuel where your at and that makes a good difference if your running more pure gasoline.....
  22. If you can, get us a pic of it and we'll have a better plan of attack...
  23. It's fairly involved, strip all the plastic off the bike, pull the exhaust completely off, a fair amount of disconnecting some wires and break the LS frame support apart and the motor is out....here's a thread about doing 2nd gear which shows the motor coming out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=508
  24. If I may ask, what exactly is wrong with yours? I know that the Ventures had the same rear caliper from '86 to '93 and that same one carried over to the '99 to present RSV and '05 to present RSTD. Do you have a pic of the one you need, I have several 4 piston calipers from 1st and 2nd gen Ventures.
  25. Thats cool, I rode one of the Hosuston members '05 for 6 months that was adjusted perfect and the best I ever got with it was 35 mpg and that was babying it.
