Got the PM, I would definitely get right on UPS and explain what is happening. Dont call it off yet, if it comes down to they can get it back into Houston to their distribution center I will go and pick it up personally. Give me a call and dont loose the faith yet....we still may get fed tonight

Ever still missing him and his laugh, not hardly a times goes by that we dont think of Steve. Thanks for bringing this back up, too many people missed out on knowing Steve, and that is truly a loss....stay safe in the hands of God brother, we'll ride again one day.

Bob, I haven't heard of any gearing that Yamaha makes for dropping the rpms on the 1st gen Venture. Some folks (including myslef) have thought about changing the gearset from the stock one to a set from a 2nd gen as it has better gearing for dropping the rpms (5th gear in a G2 is a true higway gear) Other than that I dont know of any other way to drop the rpms on a 1st gen at highway speeds.

I can dig where your coming from Jack, that one would be a decent donor for the G2's. I believe as the speedo sensor in the pig would need to be addressed. Just because he asks $100 doesn't mean he'll get it, you know that as well as I. As far as the shipping, I agree, very stupid of him as that will turn buyers right off. I'm never about not making an offer as a little of something can be better than all of nothing

Thats when you make him an offer for the whole deal including shipping. I have to say that that, to me, really only does look cosmetic. That ear wouldn't have had to have a hard fall to break off like that, and it might have had something dropped on it. I would dare say would probably still be sealed and hold oil. If that could be picked up and shipped for $75 ( I would opt for the driveshaft not being sent) that could be a good deal to swap the gears into your own pumpkin. Which would be great for 2nd genner who really only wants the gears

I would have to agree with Don here. I have known a few Ventures that have sudden death syndrom with the batteries. The Venture is VERY hard on the battery due to an inadiquate charging system. Although yours isn't very old I usually change my battery out every 2 to 3 years. I dont need one puking out during a 1000 mile road trip. Take it in to a reputable battery dealer with it fully charged out of the bike and have them load test it. It does kinda sound like a cell is bad or going bad

We did just that here at VR.org with the military about 3 years ago. Lonna and I took donations and we went and bought all sorts of stuff and sent it overseas. It was very cool and I wouldn't mind donating to something like that again. Please let me say that I am NOT volunteering myself to run it again, but would give monies towards something like it

This is kinda funny, I have owned 4 1st gens and I have never seen the "dipstick" that came with the bike well except for Dano, he came with his '84 one M&E -
