Mike, You have hit upon the secret of the success of this website. Although it is a technical forum for Ventures, Tour Deluxes and the Royal Star, it is 1st a family. We have many members that ride other makes and brands, Eck, Black Owl and myself are moderators and we have different bikes other than the Venture although I have an '89 VR as well as a '79 H/D. Were happy to hear that you feel comfortable enough around us to want to stay. Were glad your here and look forward to seeing more of yoy on the site...enjoy the RSV

SO! What are the AGES of the DRIVERS of VR.Org?
Squidley replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
You might say that -
Come to think of it Larry Skeels (Carbon One) and B2Dad triked their RSV's they might still have their rear rims as well.

Nice Buddy...you got yours coming

All the best to both of you, I know the stress you talk about, were living it too. Take sometime for you and try to relax, even if for a few minutes each day.

Well at some prodding I am 43 on #2 marriage to Lonna for better than 12 years, I'm not going to tell you how old Lonna is. I have some good days and some bad, ask Mom why she didn't tell me going into my 40's was gonna suck so bad on my body....she just smiled -
You better stop by and raid the fridge, he got all over me for not stopping on our way down

Dale, The best way I can describe it, and forgive the analogy, is that God was with us. I reacted even before I could think of how to react. I held the bike up for 3 times of the rearend swaying right to left. I have no idea how I did it besides saying that subconsiously I immediately reacted to the bikes inputs with inputs of my own. Fortuntaely when the bike finally was too out of control for me to do anything else, we were in the grassy medium sliding between I10 just west of Baton Rouge.....The man upstairs has other things for us to do here, as we shouldn't have made it through that one

I have to say that for less than $100, you might owe it to yourself to try it. Worst case if you hate it is someone WILL trade you a seat for yours if you wanted to trade

Dale..... I can 1st hand tell you that the rear tire going suddenly flat, say at 70 mph....SUCKS!! Glad you had an uneventful day BTW....Thats not my pop rivet

When I was working at the powerplant one of the operators had one. Said he loved it and the Krauts KNOW how to put a charging system on a bike, unlike the japs His ultimate ride is to take it to Alaska, If money wasn't an issue...yeah I'd like one too

Not really there "Frosty"

Hate to say it but if that is in fact true, they wont be selling many Vmax's. If you have to stop and fuel up every 100 miles will kill that bike for LOTS of buyers.

Did 120 miles this morning and I know what you mean, 80 degrees here today...ooops did I say that out loud

I've been playing with diamond plate
Squidley replied to Pecker's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I think they look great, I was doing the same type of thing with my last '99 before it was totalled. I was adding polished diamond plate accents to it....keep going with it -
Yeah....But we "Got 'er done" ...and we didn't break anything

Dave, Hate to say it, but we all got as good at doing these things by screwing them up 1st on our own stuff It just takes time and you were there learning as we went along. We appreciate being able to spend some time with fellow brothers and helping them out along the way. As much as you appreciate the help, we appreciated being there and able to spend time with you and everyone else. The folks on this site are pretty cool to be around It's definitely good for a laugh and we'll tear something apart on your bike again I'm sure, have a great ride tomorrow BTW, dont worry about the hands in your pockets next time, we'll find other stuff for you to do

You just gotta laugh! What a hoot! had a great time with the boys (and Girls) last night. 1st thing I hear is "Squid, can you pull the truck in the driveway so we can break the tire beads?" so then it starts, and I dont think Dave had any idea what he had gotten himself into. Now as we look like monkeys trying to make love to a football, we commence to "Break" the tire off the rim. It took a little while for the 2nd side, but we got it broke. Peel the old tire off and slip the new one on. Then try to air it....Houston we have a problem Daves compressor didn't have enough volume to shove air in fast enough. No matter how we tried, it wasn't going to happen with that pancake compressor. Now Dave and I jump in the truck with tire in tow and try to make it to Walmart and their auto center....closed 8 minutes before we got there Now what! Try to find anyplace with a real air compressor open after 8pm...yeah right Finally found a Shell station with one of those quarter air pumps and said we got nothing to loose. Started the filling attempt, and after looking like a Gorilla bouncing on a tire, it actually seated! Never in a million years did I expect that to work ....back to Daves house to balance the tire. Finally getting back and making all the necessary stuff happen, there was a balanced tire on the back of Daves bike. Thanks for letting us come "Play" with all Y'all and next time we do this....we'll have some better tools Here are a few more pics of the festivities.

If it runs into a snag let me know, the offer is always open if I need to go pick it up if they drop the ball
