'99 RSV Tire Size Discrepancy
Squidley replied to Bobby G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm with Steve 100%, as others mentioned LOTS of problems with Metzlers, you may want to go with a different tire. As far as your tire guys, I have used the 130 size front tire on my '99 RSV and had zero issues with it. It steers quicker and gives the bike a more neutral steering feeling. It also has a tendency to drift on the Exway at higher speeds, but no real issues. I use the stock size and have leveling links like Bummer -
Good on ya!

If it works out we could come down I 75 and perhaps bring it to Texas when we head back down around the 1st of Febuary -
I never knew Potato Head was Indy driver!
-
Bid on that one Jonas, it looks to be all there from the pics that you have posted
-
We could use a pic of your bike Dan, but all the parts sprawled around might not fit on the surface area we have available to use.....Gotcha Bub! Bummer....Love the Potato Head! The quarter is good too and if folks like the idea of the quarter we will do that

I agree with David 100% if you have the bike with you in Texas I would post a thread for some assistance. Knowing many of the Texas brothers as I do, I'd be willing to bet that a couple of them would either have you at the house or come to you to help install it. I would be glad to....but I'm still in a frozen land called Michigan, but Texas is calling me back as soon as Dad's hip is good enough for him to be left alone

It's hard to say what the damage might be, maybe nothing as all the materials are somewhat soft. Worst case is it will score the cylider wall if hard particles are present. I'm no expert by any means, but my gearhead approach would tell me to do a few things. 1st is obviously DONT turn the motor over anymore than it has been. I would remove the carbs completely and see how much debris is in the intake manifolds. I would also remove the plugs from the cylinders and see if you could shove a pen light down in there to illuminate the cylinders to see if there is material in there. If you have a shop vacI would modify the hose by adding a smaller vacuume line and tape it for a leak proof seal. Use this to suck out and material thats present. You might also want to take some compressed air set on a light pressure and blow some of it out in conjunction with the vacuume. This is what I would if it were mine, there might be a better way that I'm not privvy to, others will chime in I'm sure.

OK Folks..... It's 2010 now officially for the last 11 days and now it's time to set you creative types to put your thinking cap on and show us what you got with a design that we will pick for the T-shirts for the International rally. We'll use this as the idea thread where you can post up your designs and we will have a 2nd thread with a poll where we will vote on the design the majority like. Keep in mind that this years rally is the 5th anniversary of the original rally held at Potato Creek State Park In Indiana. We'll run this till the end of January and on Febuary 1st we'll put the poll up with the entries we have and pick a winner....so show us what you got!

My tin can was a Knox class Frigate FF1082 USS Elmer Montgomery. I spent 9 month on her during the 1st Gulf War in The Med, Red Sea, Suez Canal, Indian ocean and the Persian Gulf. I was brown shoe Navy as I was a Helicopter Mechanic with the air detachment stationed on her from HSL 36. Anti Submarine Warfare was our game....not too many subs in the Gulf though I loved my time in, I was very alive back then, I wouldn't have changed my life one bit with everything I know now....the best years of my life so far

Very simple to remember about tire pressures...in order to have the max load capability, you have to have the max air pressure in the tire -

Right now his name escapes me, but one of the members was giving away a backrest. He was right close to you in Georgia I believe. All you would have to do is find the brackets. -
Very VERY nice out of the box thinking! That is one of the coolest VR's I have seen, I would love to see it in person also
