  1. I know for a 1st gen, if it works like they claim, it would be very slick for the cassette deck on them. Perhaps we can recruit us a 1st genner to give it a try
  2. Your not going to hurt anything, I did the same thing on one of my 1st gens after I tried syn and it leaked out the gaskets after cleaning all the sludge out of them switch it over, you'll be fine.
  3. Thanks Lutz
  4. That aluminum cycle lift is a good deal too, along with the 6" digital calipers (which are good for setting floats )
  5. Ross, You own a 2nd gen, are you thinking about this for you and your bike? If so then just plug a stereo pigtail into the jack behind the cassette door and into an MP3 I know we had a post on here about an adapter like you talk about, but I dont remember anything coming of it. You might decide that you want to be the gineau pig and try this, doesn't look like it will break the bank.
  6. Troubling news Randy, I do hope that all turns out well, you folks have been through too much these last few years. Your in our thoughts my friend.
  7. I wouldn't worry about it, I have never seen or heard of one of them breaking. Trust me, if your cover didn't leak when you put it back together....DONT TAKE IT BACK OFF because it will damn sure leak when you reinstall it
  8. I know of the gear your talking about, and it does indeed look plastic. I am trying to think of what it might be to, but can't think of it right now. I looked in the Yamaha parts catalog and I dont see it there either....Hmmmm Looking at the parts view further the only "Guess" I have is actually part of the Oil Pump as unlikely as that seems.
  9. Dave, I have bought from Zanotti H/D Yamaha and they are pretty competitive on their prices. The am/fm antenna is $83.75 USD the cb is $151.58 the shipping to one of us stateside would probably be in the $15 area, then us to you would more than likely be $30 to get it across the pond. Zanotti might ship directly to you, but that would have to be verified I would hazard to guess the entire deal would be close to $300 USD. I have used Firestick antennas in the past and they have worked well. They go for about $25 each and are tuneable for the CB. I have replaced 2nd gen antennas before complete with mounts for less than $100 USD. If you want stock, we can make that happen. Shoot a PM and we'll see what we can make happen for you
  10. Who are you trying to kid mister! ....The new you, yeah right
  11. Tom, Your more than welcome my friend, I'm very happy to hear that Deb likes the final result. We too enjoyed the time with you folks...it got us out of Houston for a few days We'll get back out there and put a few miles on the scoots, y'all be safe and thank you again. Yammer....we helped Tom remove some nasty undergrowth from around his property, just so your not going crazy trying to figure it out
  12. I know theres Ice Cream in the freezer all the best to your Gal, sending good vibes up from Texas!
  13. Another thing to check is both the front brake lever and the clutch lever. They both have microswitches that if the levers are loose a bit will dis engage or not engage at all. Might want to look at cleaning them out and see if tha makes a difference.
  14. Keith, I know that Owen replaced his front springs in his RSV with a lowering set that moved the front end down without moving the forks up. Might want to get ahold of him and see what kind they were
  15. Dave, Here is the parts view of the antennas wih the Yamaha numbers. put yours in as an '06 and it's on the Audio Equipment 1 page view. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/parts/home.aspx It looks like in the pic that your looking for the am/fm antenna mount the part # is 4XY-88141-10-00 but your going to go into sticker shock when you see how much it is. If you need some help getting one from this side of the pond let us know.
  16. Very nice Gunny.....Semper Fi
  17. .....Plan B
  18. No, you dont have to take the tank off to do the carbtune.
  19. Like I have mentioned before, I dont want anyone to not try this, but I definitely want folks to know the outcome of a bad situation and plan for it. I have seen tires let go also, tire cages are a 1 time deal as when a tire goes incased in 1 the cage is junk afterwards. Like you mentioned the wheel jumped 15 feet, that will take a persons head off. The 50 ft hose is how we used to fill our helo tires up, standing at a 45 degree angle to the valve stem...just incase it did let go. I just want folks to be safe when they do this incase they aren't having a tire shop do this for them. I dont want anyone thinking I'm bashing this process about using a C/T, just be safe and live to ride another day
  20. Tom, We'll keep you both in our thoughts, thanks for keeping us in the loop my friend. All the best to Vic, be safe.
  21. Thanks Harry, I checked out his auctions and there is 3 things I would like to try and win. That inner fairing looks good, lets only hope I can get it at a decent price....Thanks again for the heads up
  22. If your fairy certain that it is a tire sound your hearing....change out the tire. You mentioned Metzlers, personally I feel that the 880 metz is one of the most dangerous tires on the market for the Venture. I know of too many people that have had very bad issues with them and I wont use them on anything I own. Not preaching here, it's your call, but Metzer and noises coming from what is believed to possibly be a tire is bad news
  23. I want to say something here, even if this is the Darksiders forum. For those of you that have talked about seating a CT with 100 lbs of air, you obviously have NEVER seen a tire blow up. There are many tricks to get a tire to seat without using 100 lbs of air. A spotlessly clean rim is the biggest deal to get it to slide up on the rim. A very minute piece of crap on a rim will incumber the tire sliding up on it. Lubing it up VERY liberally will also make the transition better. I have managed a tire store in the past and have had many tough tire installs. I have NEVER used over 50 lbs of air to seat a tire on anything. Removing the valve core is the best way to fill a tire. If I can't get the tire to seat with 50 lbs of air I let all the air out and try it over again. I may have to do this 3 or 4 times but everytime you stretch that tire a bit more and it will seat over. I'm saying this because I dont want to see anyone here kill themselves to install a CT on their rim. Use common sence and be educated on how to install this mod properly, I can tell you this, an exploding tire will take your head off...PERIOD
  24. Don, I have never heard of a Venture flooding the cylinders because of the petcock. I have always kept mine on reserve and payed attention to the gas gauge. As mentioned it's not a gravity fed, you dont have anything to worry about.
  25. They will have a good time too
