  1. If that bike could be had for $3500 that would be a good deal
  2. I could see $3500 for that bike, it is in VERY nice shape, probably the best MKI I have ever seen. It is spring and some guys think their stuff is gold when really it's not. I think he'll have it for a awhile at that price....but I have been wrong before
  3. She's a beaut! I have always loved horses, perhaps 1 day when I loose a bit of weight I'll find one that can support me and go for a ride

Thats uglier than a Victory Vision
  5. Thanks for posting it up. It definitely is in good shape ande looking at the cases I might believe that it only has 3k as far as miles. A $4200 start price is too much, hate to say it, but that bike isn't worth it. ALL the fluids need to be changed, needs new tires, and who knows what else. It's a great example of a near mint MKI but setting the start price so high is probably going to damper bidding on it
  6. Like Hell! I did Carbtunes for 8 hrs at last years MD and I did do some of those in 5 minutes...man that was slave labor
  7. Nice work Patti
  8. Wally, This is just me and if I was going to do it, I would cut the foot off and put a new base piece on it. I wouldn't leave any shaft attached to the foot and try to reweld the shaft. These are super heavy and the weld would have to be spot on and pefect to be as strong as the original. With installing a new base on the shaft, and actually shortening the actual shaft portion you'll keep the integity of that casting. Weld on a bigger foot and you wont have any worries of the shaft collapsing
  9. Lets put a bit of logic in this, I will speak from experience here as I have managed a tire store. EVERY mfgr has a run of tires that come out bad, when you are as big as the majority of mfgrs that we buy tires from are, there WILL be quality control that slips through the cracks. When you have several different contractors making items or chemicals or whatnot for your bottom line, there are things that are out of your control. Metzler chooses to blame riders for not keeping their tire inflated, yep, there are some that dont, but you cant blame it all on all the riders. Is Avon having a bad run with some tires, YEP and it's all about how they treat the customer in making sure the customer is taken care of. I have run all the major tires on the Venture, 880 Metzlers on my 1st '99 nice tire in performance aspect, way too many people I know PERSONALLY that had chunks of the tires fly off or start to. Michelin Commanders (which I would buy again) Dunlop 404's (the biggest pos besides the bridgestones) as they track tar snakes horribly and suck in the rain IMHO. Avon Venoms which I WILL still buy and use, haven't had a better tire perform for the way I like to ride. I have heard great things from the E3's but haven't had a chance to try them yet. Now the Shinkos on the '89 which I am pleased with but haven't seen about the longevity. There are a few guys here that are having some issues with the Avons, it is unfortunate. But how many here are running the Venoms that aren't having problems? I will still tell folks to buy the Avon Venoms until we have 30 or 40 people that are coming up with the same issues with them. Buy what you like, but when it comes time for the E3's to have an issue or the Michelin Commanders who's gonna say what then. We dont have any of the information as to why this is happening, so how are we going to make an educated statement without knowing all the facts
  10. When you start a post at the bottom of the text area it will say "Manage Attachments" click on that and it will let you browse your computer then you will upload the pics. Make sure the file size isn't too big or it wont load. If you have issues send me the pics at weldman333@yahoo.com and I'll post them for you
  11. Jim, Yes you have to remove the right muffler to get the axle shaft out. It would be a good idea to take both mufflers off as it will be easier to get at the castle nut and cotter key on that left side...trust me on this one. You want all the room you can get to work easily on the scoot. If you have any issues give me a call and we'll guide you through it.
  12. Ozz, If you any type of handy and are willing to attempt it, I would do it yourself. The dealer is going to tell you that it's a few hour job and charge you a couple hundred bucks, that BS. You buy yourself a carbtune or some other style of vacuum balancing device and sync the carb yourself. I can usually sync a set of carbs in less than 10 minutes, 5 minutes if I'm not talking. Another option is take a road trip to Texas and I'll adjust them for FREE! or you can search out a member in Cali that has a Carbtune and have them do it. Lots of options for you. BTW the Carbtune, which is what I have can be purchased for right at $100 and you'll have it for the rest of your days http://www.carbtune.com/
  13. You got me there, that was funny, my guts still hurt
  14. Your not getting totally jammed, he's making a bit of money off the valve adj and who can blame him. As long as they do a good job with the warranty work your still ahead of the game. And as far as adj the valves when it says to...nothing but a money grab there. Your right at the mileage where they should be checked. I have never seen a Venture 1st or 2nd gen that needed the valve adj before 50K miles
  15. They are the same clamps that come with those pegs and even though there are 2 pcs shown you will get all 3 to completely go around the bar. 1 thing I want to mention here also is with those clamps be sure and use a flat rubber rubber strip under the clamp and ontop of the bar. This will help with the clamp not slipping, especially on the pegs. I have used the ones that come with the pegs before, but have had issues with them slipping. What might be an option for you is to use the clamps that come with those pegs and use them for the Carbon one braces and buy a set of these... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/121/19210/ITEM/Kuryakyn-Magnum-Quick-Clamps.aspx I have set of these on the '89 with a pair of Markland floorboards and they work great. The boards dont move at all. I want to mention also that I use a Cork/Rubber gasket material on all the clamps I install so they wont slip on the smooth chrome. It can be purchased at any autoparts store
  16. Thanks for the info and posting it up. Hopefully some of our members will be able to attend
  17. Damn thats harsh! atleast I own a Harley
  18. Charlie, I have used these pegs from Whitney on all my G2's and I really like them for the price. Kuryakyn makes some nice stuff, but their prices are outrageous. http://www.jcwhitney.com/custom-mount-elliptical-rail-foot-pegs/p2002576.jcwx
  19. Bob, Glad to hear they are doing the warranty work for you, but that sounds like BS on the gaskets. I have replaced valve cover gaskets on MANY Ventures and even with all the rubber buttons on top being replaced too it wasn't anywhere nears $120 per bank
  20. I hate to say it to you, but I'm with Russ and Carl, it's not worth it if they are leaking that bad. Granted it is a pain, but I would go through and either do it yourself, or take it in and have it done. I know when I did Karl Sabin's (ic23b) front forks and got all the mess cleaned off the front brakes he was amazed at the difference in the handling and stopping. Be safe, I know your itching for a ride, but dont comprimize on your safety. There are too many variables and idiots that are waiting to kill us
  21. Check all your connections for being tight and absolutely clean, thats where I would start 1st.
  22. Ha! Thats cool, we all knew he'd get on something over there
  23. Thanks Craig, it worked fine and I like what I see there
  24. That looks sweet!
