  1. We just bought one and it's in Kregs garage
  2. Unless you get larger speakers in the bike, you will not get any better sound out of our systems. H/D got it right and I agree their stereo system is fantastic!
  3. Glad to hear it was something simple....nice day for a ride
  4. I'm with you Joe, I was never impressed with the Kawi. Way flimsy....all of it saddlebags, trunk, cheesey vents on the lower fairing. I haven't ridden one, as I'm not into joy riding on something I'm not going to buy. But it would be interesting to see whats left of it, for me the RSV, despite some faults, is the best touring bike for me and Momma
  5. He posted this up on Facebook this morning "Charlene is doing really well, she is doing great, out taking a walk with the therapist right now, looks like she will be discharged tomorrow. She will have in home therapy for 3-4 weeks, 3 times a week. I cant believe how fast she is bouncing back from this surgery. She is an amazing lady."
  6. Clean all your connections, on the battery, the negative on the frame...all of them. Make sure they are all tight, I have seen this quite a few times where the positive wasn't tight enough or had just a wee bit of corrosion produces the exact problem your describing. The starters rarely fail on these bikes.
  7. Any accident on a bike you can walk away from is a good one. It definitely sucks, but she'll live to ride another day. I'm not even going to get started on the cages lame excuse....We'll keep her in our thoughts.
  8. hey lewis!!!!
  9. Interesting thought, but I'm doubtful that the pumpkins would be close to accept the different system. You might want to check what the ring and pinion #'s are for a gear ratio and see if in fact they are close to something Yamaha makes
  10. That looks good Wally, I have had the Yamaha one for quite a while now and in the beginning it takes a while to break it in. I do like what your friend has done and I'm sure that there would be folks here willing to part with their cash to have one of those
  11. Are you talking about using gears out of a VTX 1800 in the RSV rearend?
  12. As long as your happy Herb, thats all that counts. Still looking forward to hooking up with you one of these days in this big ole state of TEXAS!
  13. Brake Pad designed it as the idea for the T shirts, I think it looks good too
  14. You'll have to fill us in on what the kids did for you Ben
  15. Keep it up Naptime boy I think it's time for me to come over and "help you" with that dead tractor of yours Dave, The trailer wiring isn't the culprit, just by your testing and tapping on it I would put my money on the fuel pump. I have heard of quite a few going bad, Ponch can hook you up with the aftermarket one and if I have to replace one on the '99 when I get it rolling it will be to the setup he has
  16. I just went through the same thing with my Dad over Christmas. He had his left ball and socket replaced, doc couldn't believe he was still walking. It's going to be a hard road, but she'll be better off for it...all the best to you both and give that sweetie a big hug for us
  17. Loud horns are a godsend, I have seen several other members have to use theirs and scared the crap out of cagers Glad your ending was a good one
  18. I just talked with Black Owl and he will be the one collecting the funds for all the merchandise. So the payments for individual patches and shirts will go to him. We are also working on a total package for the rally dinner, a shirt and a patch which we will come on and announce shortly. Times getting close....is anyone excited yet???
  19. OK Folks, I have been working with a patchmaker out on the left coast and she will be doing our patches for the rally. They are a bit pricey, but have 8 colors in them and a good amount of detail. The patches will be $12.50 a piece and we can either send them to you or you can pick them up at the rally. I am putting a poll up for the #'s game on how many we need to have made and it will display your name for how you voted so I can keep track of it. I will come back in a later thread and give details on where and to whom to send the monies to. If you have question PM me or ask them in the thread, I will keep this bumped up to the top and we'll let it run for 2 weeks or so....here is a pic of the patch.
  20. Great news indeed...good for them both
  21. Use the fuse block for it's intention, I would cut the wires to length and crimp an end on...when you want to do it??
  22. I do have a set of the Shinko Tourmasters on the '89 I sold Grey Ghost. I have come to the same conclusion, the rear isn't wearing well. I also agree with the sentiments of the performance of the tires. They stick like glue, probably due to the soft compound they are made of, I have about 6K on the tires right now and the rear might have another 1K...maybe. If they would have gone 10K I would have been real happy, the front is in very good shape and I'd wager that I could get 5 or 6 k out of it still. They are an inexpensive tire, I bought both for $119 delivered to my door, but would have to install 3 rears for the kind of yearly riding I do. I am going to change out the tires before I get the bike to Cliff, probably will try the E3's, so thanks for the link
  23. All the best to both of you, I know it's hard to watch your woman go through the pain. Y'all are in our thoughts
  24. Here are a couple of writeups in the tech library http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515 If you have any questions or run into problems call me on my cell, it's in my profile.
  25. Good to hear your getting your groove back on Lowell. Being the ambassador is a daunting task and one must be in great shape to voyage the miles
