    Woody, It sounds like you might have a Travelcade seat on your Venture, they were a combination of Vinyl/Cloth. If you had a pic of it we could narrow it down....welcome to the site

    I think your right on the mark with the price, take it up to $2800 and let them talk you down a bit. $2500 for a good running, decent shape touring bike that will go 200K is a decent deal

    You know where to scratch that itch Chief Mike, Put a full charge in the battery and take it in to one of your auto parts store there in Canada and have them do a load test on it. That will tell you if your battery is up to snuff, or if you have a bad cell. The book that Rick wrote is good advise too

    Thats good advise, I try to do it every 2 years or when I see the color change in the master cylinder

    If your truly concerned about correct torque settings, dont waste your money on any HF wrench. Torque wrenches, even good ones, require calibrating from time to time. If you drop it once, it's out of cal. Personally I would go with a better quality wrench and have a bit more piece of mind

    That is the right way to go, you will like the PCW spring, I have installed a dozen of them atleast. I figured if you were in a pinch you could go with the 2 springs. I actually installed it in my '89 to try it for myself so I could comment on how it worked 1st hand

    Yes it will work fine for right now, I have a double stock setup on my '89 and there is no clearance issues. At some point you MIGHT have to replace it, but I doubt it, install it and run, folks have been running with double springs for a long time in the Ventures

    Unless you get larger speakers in the bike, you will not get any better sound out of our systems. H/D got it right and I agree their stereo system is fantastic!

    I'm with you Joe, I was never impressed with the Kawi. Way flimsy....all of it saddlebags, trunk, cheesey vents on the lower fairing. I haven't ridden one, as I'm not into joy riding on something I'm not going to buy. But it would be interesting to see whats left of it, for me the RSV, despite some faults, is the best touring bike for me and Momma

    He posted this up on Facebook this morning "Charlene is doing really well, she is doing great, out taking a walk with the therapist right now, looks like she will be discharged tomorrow. She will have in home therapy for 3-4 weeks, 3 times a week. I cant believe how fast she is bouncing back from this surgery. She is an amazing lady."

    Clean all your connections, on the battery, the negative on the frame...all of them. Make sure they are all tight, I have seen this quite a few times where the positive wasn't tight enough or had just a wee bit of corrosion produces the exact problem your describing. The starters rarely fail on these bikes.

    Any accident on a bike you can walk away from is a good one. It definitely sucks, but she'll live to ride another day. I'm not even going to get started on the cages lame excuse....We'll keep her in our thoughts.

    Interesting thought, but I'm doubtful that the pumpkins would be close to accept the different system. You might want to check what the ring and pinion #'s are for a gear ratio and see if in fact they are close to something Yamaha makes

    That looks good Wally, I have had the Yamaha one for quite a while now and in the beginning it takes a while to break it in. I do like what your friend has done and I'm sure that there would be folks here willing to part with their cash to have one of those

    Brake Pad designed it as the idea for the T shirts, I think it looks good too
