Those are rarer than chicken lips, good luck in finding a set, ebay would be the only place I would know to even try to look.- 4 replies

Driver Backrest
Squidley replied to mmkleine's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The Diamond R is a bolt on, goes in front of the passenger seat using the 2 bolt mounts that hold the seat onto the frame. It is a excellent backrest as I have had one on my RSV's in the past. Allen and Patti are great folks to deal with and donate a lot to this site, I fully recommend them. The Utopia is a nice backrest also, and this is the one that you might have to drill to install. I like the fact also that Diamond R's matches the pillowtop seats perfectly. Tpalshadow....this is for the 2nd gens, your limited to try and find a backrest for your 1st gen on ebay or possibly a member here. You also might want to consider looking for a Travelcade seat with a built in backrest. I do have one of those that needs to be recovered if your interested. -
What to look for?

The '89 I have that Grey Ghost bought from me is that color. Actually the '89 and 90 are identical as Dave P has Kevins old bike and they are twins....nice looking scoot -

It's warming up here in Texas too Vin, mid 90's and I know that isn't considered hot here yet Looking forward to seeing the pics of your bike once it's done, color sounds cool -
Your only other option, from what I am reading, is look into a Russell daylong seat. They are custom made to fit the rider and they are made to your size and weight. I am with most of the others here in the fact that I loved the pillow top seats. I have ridden several several hundred miles on my RSV's and although I was tired, was never as wiped out as you seem to be experiencing. Best of luck with the quest

I installed a set of E3's on the '89 I have here and have a question for the 1st genners. I find that the handling actually went down, I'm thinking because of the profile on the tire and it being more rounded up into the casing. It actually feels to me, at slow speeds to plow more, kinda like a stock 2nd gen. I'm not too crazy about this, but I know that I will get used to how it reacts. My question is, do any of you other 1st genners feel the same as I do ?

Take lots of pics buddy, all 4 of you have a great time and be safe

Bill, Just for a bit of clarification, here is my take on a west coast IR. Somebody has to step up to the plate and host it, I hosted the one in Ft. Collins CO. in '07. Hal Lackenbauer and a group of the Ontarians hosted the '08 rally in Kitchener Ont. and last year Snarly Bill and several Missouri and Oklahoma folks hosted the '09 rally in Arkansas. This year Leadwolf56 and some of the Indiana boys...and a Texan, are hosting the one in Potato Creek as a 5 year anniversary. In a long winded approach, somebody has to do a TON of work to make one of these things happen. If any of our West coast members wants to grab that bull by the horns I am all for it. There is an old saying here, plan it and they will come

Well now lets hold on a minute with that thought, we could "Cleanse" Swifty and that might sweeten his demeanor

Deb, It's not bad to get into, if it's like the old ones I have had, it has a self storing rain cover in it that you can pull over the top. The zipper is across the top, I have run through some hard rain with it on and the contents stayed dry, the price is right & it works well

Deb, I have had a few of these Kuryakyn bags, they work great and the price is right. I have used them on both 1st and 2nd gens. http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/5/scID/2/IMID/342

Thanks for noticing I just haven't put them in any of the tires and they came along on the trip from Michigan to Texas. I'll load them in the bike and we'll hook up this week
