  1. 2 of my favorites are in Northern Cali Hwy 36 out of Red Bluff into Fortuna and Hwy 299 out of Redding into McKinleyville. Both were free range roads and a couple of times we came around blind curves to find cow's and such in the middle of the road.
  2. Sending good vibes your way Angel, all the best in your healing and look at all your options before you proceed with getting compensation.
  3. Sorry to hear of this, I agree with Mike on your last statement. There's no way I would tolerate any of my parents or anyone treating my wife or family that way, drugged or not. I hope he works his way through this.
  4. Good to see you back on here again Scotty! Run the Seafoam 1st and if you can't start to get favorable results then pull the carbs and go through them.
  5. I'm in agreeance with Puc, if your not very handy with electrical, this is not a bike you want to have to learn on. As good a deal it may seem, it's probably best to walk away from it. If you were looking for a project bike and had lots of time and good mechanical/electrical skills, then perhaps yes, but I dont get the vibe thats what your looking for. I can personally attest that keeping a 1st gen Venture roadworthy is a labor of love.....just my 0.02 worth
  6. The 1st thing I would check is the kickstand switch, that will kill the spark and I have had several not start when the kickstand was down. Once it was put up the bike fired off....0.02
  7. Here's what I have done in the past....
  8. This site is different, and always has been. I have been on the site for 10 years, and helped Don moderate it for just about all of the time I've been here. In the beginning we jammed information into it, this is why we have the best technical forum of any Royal Star/Venture site. The reason it is the way it is, was because of a promise we made to each other when this 1st started, not to get political, or religious discussions. Too many thing get lost in translation on the web. Many of us have traveled far and wide to meet members and share time. We break bread, share parts of our lives, and genuinely appreciate all that folks have to offer. Some of our old timers (insert me) have answered lots of questions. I don't get on as much as I used to, life has handed me different priorities. I do read a lot of posts and if I see that the same information is being given as I would comment, I just leave it go. I still love this place, I suppose I always will, I have made lifelong friends here, and for that I am grateful. The adage of I have never met a stranger here, holds true. I open my home up to everyone here, because it feels right to me. Don, your one of my best friends, and even though we don't get to share the time I wish we did, you have done an unbelievable job with this place. I am very fortunate to have you as a mentor, I can't think of nobody that I trust more, or would follow into hell. Thank you for staying true to all of us my friend.
  9. Hey Y'all, I'm wanted to ask if anyone is selling the G2 leveling links. I always like to support our vendors 1st. if I can help it
  10. Lanny, I hope you realize that our less than doubtful comments aren't directed at you. This happens every year and most of us that have wished for a new Venture are always let down by Yamaha. I HIGHLY doubt Yamaha will come out with another Venture. Too much money involved in retooling to make a machine that will effectively be equal to the Wing's, HD's or BMW's. If it's not a V4, it's not a Venture, and if they are going to do an air cooled twin, all the loyalists will reject it...0.02
  11. Be careful and enjoy your time in TEXAS!
  12. Congrats Barry!
  13. Great wisdom in your statements Scott, and I try to do that as well. Matter of fact, seeing I just got laid off, I'm going to do just that, as Lonna and I have done that back in '06. I truly hope they get your health straitened out soon so you can get back to raising some hell. I have been fortunate enough to be able to meet you and Tippy, and I'm looking forward to doing it some more. Happy Belated Birthday to you Brother, may we have many more to share with you.
  14. Just an update, BongoBob your decals went out yesterday. Joe W yours went out as well yesterday. If y'all have any questions or concerns shoot me a pm.
  15. Make sure the bore is spotlessly clean, as well as the entire assembly. Lube all the sliding pieces with brake fluid before you install them. It's a pretty strait forward repair, if you run into issues my # is in my profile.
  16. Or he's just sandbagging and wants to throw us off the trail...0.02
  17. Quick update, The following decals went out today in the mail Stealthblade Eagleeye Angry Joe Prairiehammer Marcarl (who has Sleepy2 and Wizard765 in his package) Folks just let me know how you want to pay for the others and we'll get after it.
  18. Happy Birthday Lowell!!
  19. I have ran several pair of Shenko's on various 1st gens and have nothing but praise for them. They do wear faster, but are a bit softer and perform flawlessly. I run twisties hard and never had them slip on me, I dont think you'll be disappointed other than you'll get a little less on the mileage 0.02
  20. On the 1st gen there isn't a lot of choices with windshields. I have had them with the goldwing vent in them and it works out reasonable. I too had a passenger to consider and shorter wasn't good for her. Go with a wider one to limit the buffing and a vent and I think you'll be happy with that combination. BTW Saddlebum mentioned about the dash vents, they really dont push a lot of air especially with the stock tubing in them. I found when I removed all that tubing more air actually flowed through them into the drivers compartment 0.02
  21. In '85 they were between the MKI and the MKII as there was only 1 color...Brown. They may consider that a limited edition. Remember as well that the trunk was different for that year as it was the size of the MKII's and would detach.
  22. Jay, You might want to try a headlight restorer kit with a powerball. I had a pretty bad shape lower wind deflectors and used a mothers headlight restore kit and they really came out nice... 0.02
  23. Got it changed
  24. In the continental US it is $1 to ship them, I can ship 4 or 5 of them in 1 envelope for that.
  25. Post 65 up top is one on my '08
