Renne, I know about having to sell the scoots, 2 of them in a year for me. Are you still going to be on 2 wheels or are you having to give it up?

We talked about that last night, he's going get ahold of HF and see about getting a new axle. I also have a spare one that Dray gave to me from when he had issues with his HF trailer. I'd be willing to bet that the spindles arent welded square with the cross tube. Worst case is I'll bring it into the shop here and either heat and tweak or just cut them off and weld them on right.

This is just a wild guess, but have you tried a different ignition box? It almost sounds like electrical cutting out, fuel pump is another option as Forest mentioned. How old is the battery and when was the last time you checked the charging system? The Venture is hard on batteries as the electrical system is just barely adequate. Check all your connections at the battery and solenoid/frame for tightness and corrosion.

Jeff....dont give Doodle any more ideas than he already has Besides I really want to get that '99 on the road at some point

Do me a favor Doodle....could you unload "Your" parts bike off the trailer so I can let Dave use it

Good to see you folks had a good time, I ended up putting on 1100 miles in 50 hours this weekend myself -
David, I have a trailer that I specifically built for hauling our touring bikes. I have hauled both 1st and 2nd gens on it. Your more than welcome to use it if you want to, It has 6 11000 lb D rings to secure the bike and a wheel chock up front. It has new tires and it's what I used to bring the '89 down here to Texas from Michigan. It's yours for the using if you want it, give me a call if you want to go this route.

Nice, I just saw Kbrans last night when I stayed there on my way to Pensacola Fla. Now put an A/C unit in it and make sure that you have a shower where your at and you'll be golden:thumbsup2:

Personally I would say to get him a 2 wheeled bike, not a quad. I know that I ride my touring bikes like a dirt bike in using the rear brake a lot and down shifting before a corner to be in a good power band. It will also help with balance to be on 2 wheels, I had a '79 Yamaha 250 enduro a few years back that I ended up selling on ebay because I knew it was a money maker. I played with it a few times in the back yard and told myself that I was getting a bit too old to be bouncing around in the dirt. I just knew if I kept it I would either break it or myself

Yep.....It's good to swap out the fluids every 2 to 3 years, traditional dot 3 and 4 brake fluid absorbs moisture and will decrease the fluids abilities.

Been there....done that, I even have the shirt

I'll be 44 in October and my 1st Venture was an '84 Blonde back in '04, been riding since I was about 10.

Dollars to donuts I'd be willing to bet thats your problem, it will bounce and shake all over the place.

You can see what a pain it is to find one, buy a new one with updated maps, install it and be done with it

Thanks for the update Dianne
