I am seriously considering doing this on my '99, but the carbs will have to be rejetted. I also want to look into aftermarket exhausts from the heads out, the stock ones are a bit small and if you can open them up a bit it will breathe easier....just one of the million things rolling around in me noggin

I find that many times, as much as I pay attention to other bikes, I miss several of them. perhaps because I am concentrating on a bonehead in front of me or such. Some guys just dont feel comfortable letting go of the handlebars. I'm sure there are some that just play a clique, but I know personally I have missed a wave at another bike just because I didn't see them till the last second due to my mind being on something else.

Roger that Dale, the door is open if you need it or any others that want a place to crash....it sure is nice having a house that is twice as big as our last one

Gene, If your going to get a 110 volt welder make it a good one. Miller or Lincoln are your best bets, flux core is nice, but you have to keep the temp higher to get it to flow well. Wire and gas will give you a better precision weld and will run cooler so you can do more detailed welds. The nice thing about the newer welders is that you can run both Fluxcore and Wire/Gas with the same unit. What exactly are you trying to do with it? An Arc welder is good for heavier gauge steels and takes a bit more practice. The Mig is pretty easy to catch on to for general welding. I have been welding for about 25 years now, certified in 7018 Arc. If you have other question PM me and we can chat, or I could do a road trip and give you some hands on.

One of our members in Ohio, Moped, fabricated a set of intakes from some old 80's GM truck mirrors. I'll tell you what they look VERY cool, others have done similar to what you have mentioned, but I can't remember who it was now

He's not alone in that thought, but to be honest many guys dont rev these bikes high enough. I always drop a gear when I want the bike to move, and when I pass I'll drop it to 3rd and put the hammer to it. The Vmax gears in the rear of the G2 will help with that 2 up trailer issue, although I would still drop a gear to climb a hill loaded like what you have mentioned.

Where are you staying @ Dale, we have room here @ the house if your interested?

Thanks for the update Dianne.... I was going to come on and let the members know of our conversation. It was good to talk with him, albeit short, when the nurse came in and we had to end out call He sounds good and was very appreciative of all the good vibes coming from the members. As soon as I talk with him again I'll keep y'all informed. Dianne, you gals have a good weekend, you absolutely deserve a break

Mark, I dont believe that the cams that were in the 1200cc models were to Vmax specs. In '86 when thet introduced the new body style & 1300cc motor I think they decided that they wanted to go the full touring model and made it a bit tamer. The cams were designed for, I would imagine more torque and a smoother driveablity. I haven't put a set of Vmax cams in a G2...yet, but I would like to do just that. It will obviously drink a bit more fuel, but the more useable horsepower would be nice. Many guys have changed out the rearend to a Vmax or FJR 1300 for a better take off gear ratio. The 5th gear on the G2's is a true overdrive and swapping the gears only raises the 5th gear RPM's about 500. It's great for out of the hole especially if your 2 up and pulling a trailer.

I have been in contact with The Goatkeeper (Dianne) about how James is doing. He's still in a bad way to go as far as their not knowing what is making him pass out. Here is her PM to me with whats going on. "His daughter is down here again, and staying with me. We have talked about the mayo hospital in Rochester MN look at him. The doctors here are ok but puzzled as to what's going on with him? no cancer thank god. Just trouble with blood pressure that drops when he gets up quick or stands to long? Then the headaches come and boom down he goes. I will inform him of your message, if you can, will you post and tell everyone that he's thinking of all of you folks? Thanks Dianne" He's obviously not out of the woods yet, so if you folks want to drop him a PM I know it would help his spirits if nothing else. Send one to Dianne too as I'm sure her spirit needs a lift too. Thanks to all of you that have kept a vigil with keeping James in your thoughts and prayers.

Easy Dale easy..... I can bring another lift adapter and I have a couple of jacks, 1 @ our house and 1 @ Kregs. We'll more than likely bring the wagon to haul all of it. I'll also bring the usual carbtune and brake bleeder.

I'm with Boo, I have owned 8 Ventures, 4 1st gens - '84, 2 86's and an '89 and 4 2nd gens 3 99's and an '08 The 1200 cc's are the fastest of them all as they had a little hotter cam. The G2's are the most comfortable imo.
