  1. Jim, Check all your connections from the battery down to where they mount to on the bike. The main fuse block is there under the left side battery cover. That would be a good place to check, also wiggle the key in the ignition a bit. The switches are prone to fail.
  2. It's good to hear that the Ambassador is doing better. Lowell, you know we love you my friend, get your health back on track and put some wind in your face!
  3. You dunned let the smoke out!
  4. Wish you all the best luck Jeff, I hope it turns out better than your wildest dreams my friend.
  5. Have fun and know that were ready for you down here in TEXAS!
  6. Before you jump into a lot of tearing apart 1 suggestion would be to make sure you have a good Carbtune sync on the bike. misadjusted carbs can make a lot of things funny, this is where I would start and then go further into it.
  7. Our secret is being compromised!? Glad that Bob was able to help you out, you'll find out that there's a lot of that going on here with this site....welcome to the club
  8. I would tend to agree with you Patrick, but I know he is having fun

  12. Just like every other Canuck I know....You're Nuts!!!
  13. Don, jlh3rd has explained it as well as I could. There is a point where an engine is designed to create optimum HP and torque, the sweet spot as many of us call it. I know it seems to counter common sense that more rpms is better fuel economy, but it has a lot to do with how you personally ride the bike. With a lower rpm outside of the sweet spot your compensating more with the throttle to stay at the same speed. You might not think that you are, but I find this to be the case. Thats why I dont put the bike in 5th gear unless I'm doing 65 mph or better as it would just lug the engine. I hope that some of these tidbit help a bit, I know it took me a while to figure it out. I actually rode in different gears to see what the mileage would do.
  14. Looks Good Paul...and your even in Minniesoda too
  15. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha....no wait, wait a minute...ok I'm better.....Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha...Sorry I guess I wasn't
  16. Watch it Chickenhawk !!
  17. I agree with most here in the fact that I LOVE the RSV. It is hands down the most comfortable 2 up touring bike I have ever ridden, and I have done some miles on Wings and Ultras. I'm not so worried about the FI or the cassette deck, the biggest thing in my estimation is the charging system. The one on the bike is barely adequate to charge the basics on the bike. I like running a lot of lights, my driving lights are on all the time day and night for safety from critters in the dark and numbskulls in the day. I would want to see a big improvement in power availability as far as electrical output. Heated clothes are nice to have and use for both rider and passenger, this takes juice. I'm afraid that a redesign will be more geared towards a GW style or the old 1st gens. If that turns out to be the case, I wont buy a new one. I like the classic styling of the RSV, the body lines flow smoothly and I love how it looks (besides the cyclopes headlight, but thats another story) We'll see what they do, but for me, I'll redo this '99 that Moose gave me and I'll ride it till the wheels fall off it
  18. Doesn't matter....I'll bring a fan

  22. You are so right with that statement Brad
  23. Yes it is, buried behind the left side inner fairing bulkhead.
  24. When was the last time the caps and wires were replaced? If you dont know I would suggest that the 1st thing you do is a complete tune up and see where it goes from there. This way your not guessing if this or that is ok and it gives a good mainyenance starting point
  25. I usually dont shift into 5th gear until I am atleast at 65 mph. In town I never shift into 5th as I can drop a gear to 3rd and hammer it incase I get into a tight spot that I need to get out of.
