  1. I really shouldn't be laughing, but I am Some folks aren't made for riding a bike, some learn fast and sell them others aren't so lucky and pay a dear price for an accident.
  2. Larry, Nothing to worry about, all of the 2nd gens are that way, not just your bike. You compensate for it or fix it with the speedo healer. I use a GPS and it give actual speed so it's really not an issue. You have got one of the best touring bikes made, ride it till the wheels fall off it in a few hundred thousand miles
  3. Good to see you 2 enjoying the ride, be safe and we'll catch up with you 2 again soon
  4. Dead serious, @ 80 mph your only doing about 72. I know others will chime in and comment on the speedo healers, it's on my list for my '99
  5. Karl....that was funny, had a good laugh just now
  6. Larry, Thats the way they are, off by about 8% from actual speed. Some of our members have installed the Speedo healer and corrected the descrepancy, Welcome to the club.
  7. I seened it!!!
  8. ....and I haven't even commented until now
  9. You wont hear it from me, it's your choice brother. I just happen to like the Venoms better than anything else out there. I had a set of the 880's on my 1st '99 and they were a decent tire, stuck well in the curves and in the rain and were quiet. I know some of the members here personally that had issues with the 880's. They aren't slackers on the maintenance of their bikes and kept the pressures up. It's all about how you feel, it is your butt on the line and some will never have problems, but the numerous members here and strangers I have met had the same issues. I wish all you fellas the best with your 880's, just pay close attention to the pressures and the tread
  10. I'm with Jack here too on this one, get a small 40 channel and mount it up. The entire bike would have to have a new wiring harness set up for a CB radio. Dave....Thanks for your efforts bud, sounds like a nice little project for you this winter
  11. If memory serves me right (sometimes it doesn't) but I think it was caouple ounces for 16 gallons. I'd have to check when I get back home
  12. We had a good bit of rain on Tuesday here in the Houston area, but it really did a number up towards Dallas/Ft. Worth and further north.
  13. Bought a little bottle at Walmarts last night over in the Marine section for about 8$ says it will treat 128 gallons, we'll see what happens with it
  14. Another option is if you can't find one....delink the brakes and you wont have to worry about that bleeder port up top
  15. If everything has gone to plan they are somewhere in San Antonio right now. As soon as the Tomball/Houston crew hears from them we will let you all know
  16. Interesting concept, I like the idea of not having to do mouth to mouth.
  17. Anytime my friend, still have my Canada "Touk" here in Texas with me
  18. Check all the crush washers on the banjo bolts also, just a little leak will cause problems.
  19. Nice job Mark, Hal and I shaved our heads 2 years ago and raised about $2200.00 that was donated to 4 charities.
  20. It's going to get lots worse before it gets any better...it is a sad sign for sure
  21. FWIW.... I wouldn't bother replacing an exsisting one, go out and buy a new mount and a Firestik antenna where you can tune it. You'll have much updated technology and you wont have to worry about it breaking again
  22. I still have a lot of the "Trophy" hair, some of it is in the Platnum Hooter bottles and we also have the Dream Catcher. We need to get that traveling again and figure out how to present it with out taking the chance at loosing it, that almost happened in Ft. Collins in '07.
  23. Thats the spirit!
  24. I remember that day vividly...it was fun wasn't it
