Besides the obvious of lubing all the pivot points and the ball spring behind the knob, I can't be of much more help.

Sounds interesting, I wouldn't mind doing that one...we'll have to see how it all plays out.

Good to see you Michiganders getting together, saw Joe Mac, Lumberjack and Dizzy Blonde Kid. Atleast it wasn't snowing for you folks up there

As your heart weeps my friend...so does ours. I have seen a couple of bad accidents and it never truly leaves you, just gets buried. There are no words of wisdom besides talk if you feel the need to. I will speak just for me in that if you need to talk, my phone is always on, that is said very sincerely. Thank god for people like you that will still look to care for a fellow human being in distress. God looks favorable on folks that take care of his children, I wish you all the best Gene

Cruise Control Issue
Squidley replied to ranger391's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Scott, Over time the cables tend to loosen up a bit on the RSV. I have always had to set it and then hit accelerate to get it where I want it to be. You could try and tighten up the cables and that should help out quite a bit. Unless it totally wont hold speed at all the vac lines should be alright. -
2000 Venture Need more power with sidecar
Squidley replied to labill's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Rusty, No the G2 wont spin up to 7500 rpm in the stock configuration, I believe the govenor is set up at about 6500 rpms. If you install The Dana 3000 ignition in the bike you can set your parameters for the rpms, I believe up to 7500 or there abouts. I believe that Yamaha did that due to the unlimited mileage warranty and just kept the engine way under it's potential. -
2000 Venture Need more power with sidecar
Squidley replied to labill's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Dont be concerned with the down shifting, it's needed to get into the powerband. Your not gonna hurt this motor, it will easily spin to 7500 rpms, without the govenor. When I go to pass someone if I'm in 5th I drop it to 3rd and open her up, you'll be surprised how fast it will move. I'll second the Vmax rearend as it will help with out of the hole power, enjoy that new ride -
2000 Venture Need more power with sidecar
Squidley replied to labill's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
This may seem like a dense question Bill, but bear with me. How do you shift your bike, meaning do you shift up into 5th gear before say 50 mph? This V4 has a LOT of power, but you have to know where to get it from. On all my 2nd gens I have never shifted into 5th until about 65 mph. When going up inclines and such I always drop a gear or 2, especially if I'm 2 up and pulling a trailer. Your adding a lot of wind resistance with a sidecar on and that could be hurting you too. If you haven't done a tune up on the bike since you got it I would strongly suggest that. New plugs, air filters, fuel filter and do a carb sync on it. This will give you a starting point to go from and you have a record of maintenance on your bike then. SteveW here on the site has, or still does own an RSV with a hack on it, might want to PM him and compare notes with him. Give us a bit more info and we'll get better answers to pass on. -
Good to hear of the trip, a truly epic one considering the people that you encountered in Minnie soda Nice to hear you got to see the "nice" part of Michigan, the trip over the "Big Mac" is always a cool thing. We'll have to catch up with you and Margaret soon...good to have you back in TEXAS!

We won one of the Acer 10" notebooks at the '09 International Rally in Arkansas and I love it. You can pick one up for under $300 and it served as our only computer for about 6 months while we were moving. I would absolutely buy another one and have helped purchase a couple of them for friends of mine.

Wiring harness the same?
Squidley replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm not 100% positive, but I dont think it is, I believe there are 2 different harnesses for the standard and royale.
