Have you ridden with them in the dark? If so how well do they light up the road. I like the idea of them as long as they are useful for additional seeing at night.

No spark to one cylinder, 1986 VR
Squidley replied to ahunt2412's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you haven't done a complete tune up since you bought the bike I would suggest that. Randy is spot on with the resistor, I always change plugs, wires and caps on any 1st gen I own or work on just so I can rule those out if I have to start trouble shooting. -
Thom, down here in Texas, has something like it and it works out pretty well. Depending on the price it might be ok, Only issue is that you loose access to the side of the bike that the lift arm and support is on

Pink and Floyd did the Potato creek, the '05 Vogel and the '06 Eureka Springs Al Bates did the '06 Vogel and the Port Autin ride. I know I have some of them laying around, I'll see if I can find them for you.

All the best to he and his family.

I owned a 9mm Taurus back when I was in the service and it was a great gun. Shot a lot of shells through it with zero issues, Unless they radically changed in the past decade you shouldn't have any issues with a Taurus
-
Ray, I have done a lot crazier things in my days Let me know what you come up with as there are a few ways that we can correct issues if they appear. Depending on if you have a garage to work out of, I could shoot over that way. If not you can come over here and we could do the work on a weekend.

If any of the Michigan and surrounding folks are thinking about this please give Dean a call. I trust Dean's judgement with the situation and commend him for stepping up to the plate to help the folks out. Kinda makes me wish we were still in Michigan....did I really say that

Ray, Dave Zipcode here in Houston had an issue with his and it turned out that the HF trailer he bought had not been welded properly. Here's a link to the write up that Zipcode did http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51272 It's lengthy, but informative and on the 93rd post you'll see what the deal was with Dave's axle. Give this a shot 1st and then go from there, I'll stick with 20 lbs of air in trailer tires

A great human story for a change, it has inspired people all over the world. Good on all the people involved with getting those folks out of that mine

can i add fairing off venture
Squidley replied to simple man's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You could, but there is a LOT of work involved. Different tank and speedo right off, then all the framework. It would really be easier to install a batwing fairing and not mess with all the headaches. The batwing fairing has much bigger speakers holes and you can put exactly whatever type of stereo in it that you want. Several members here have done it and they really look nice when they finish them off -
As Ponch mentioned I have about 6 gallons of the stuff that was in the tank. As far as the bill it broke down to this, drop the tank and remove the sending unit and fuel pump. Replace the o2 sensor as it coded, when they pulled the diagnostic check on it. New fuel filter and I had a lifetime warranty fuel pump on it so I had a new one installed. I'm not positive if there was a tanker there when we pulled up or not. I KNOW that I can't be the only one that got bad gas that day, no way. There just playing me and seeing if I'm going to go away....fat chance of that. You folks haven't even seen a glimpse of how much of an ahole I can be, if they keep playing me, they will find out. Like mentioned, I'm not out to scam anyone, I just want whats right. I have had a couple members PM me with some advise and I really appreciate it. My next step is making a call to the Texas attorney general and weights and measures, turn up the heat a bit. All I'm looking for is $44 spent on a tank of crap gas and the repair bill which is $390 and some change. If they do this in fairly short order I will cease and desist with this campaign, if not I will start adding monies on for my aggravation and time which will be documented. I also like the idea of filing a claim in court, that will definitely let them know that I am serious and I'm not going to play nice

I don't usually get on a public rant about things, but I am now, I'll try to keep it short. About 6 weeks ago I had work done to my car, installed a new fuel pump and sending unit. Got the car back and it was running great, went to fill it up as it was empty. Stopped at a VALERO station in Tomball Texas on 249 just north of FM 2920. I ended up getting a tankful of bad gas from that station. $400 bill later from the garage the car was running again. I submitted a form to get them to pay for the repair as it was nothing I did to cause it. Well they decided to not pay the repair, so now I am starting phase 2 of my campaign against them, and give as much bad publicity as I can. I have nothing to gain by trying to scam them, I paid out the money so it's money lost for me right now. I try very hard to play by the rules and become extremely irritated when others dont play by the same rules. There are quite a few folks that know me here and my character, I can let a lot of things slid, but this time, I am going to be the biggest PITA to VALERO until they make this right. Think twice before you use VALERO, needless to say I wont be supporting VALERO and will give as much negative talk about them as I can until they step up and do the right thing.

I have run mine at 20 psi and pulled a trailer for better than 30K miles. You are absolutely correct in the fact that opinions will greatly vary on this subject

Squidley replied to Bummer's topic in Picture Folder
Very nice pics Steve! Looks like you folks had a good time, still miss not being able to do that ride with y'all -
We were thinking about you yesterday Jim, good to hear your trip was a good one. We have done the dragon before and it's a good ride, some of the country's best riding is right in that area. That area in Tennessee was almost our new home before we pulled the trigger for Texas.
