It appears that you can only buy from them if you are a licensed dealer, here is it right off the site when I went to register. "Membership at Salvage Direct, Inc. is limited to licensed dealers and dismantlers as required by the member's state department of transportation or other applicable state department. For information on which licenses qualify, please contact us at (814) 827-0300. There is a non-refundable fee of $200.00 for applying." I would love to be able to get in on that as I have the '99 that needs a lot of the nuts and bolts to reassemble it. I need to find a crashed bike for all the missing hardware I dont have....such is life

People ask me that all the time when I tell them about our open door policy. I have a pretty good track record of being able to judge a persons integrity within about 15 minutes of meeting and talking with them. Besides, I'm 5' 11" and 280 lbs, there isn't anyone that intimidates me and the shotgun is always loaded I'm with the others, by and far for the most part, folks that I have met are pretty honest and I really dont worry much. Our door will always stay open to the wayward Venturerider

Mike, The VR assistant list has that info in it, we have done it numerous times. I have always stated on the site that our door is always open to any and all from here. It will specifically say in members profile what they can help with, some are just local riding or towing, others offer everything. Make a plan for a trip and see what areas your going to try and stay in and contact the local members that offer lodging. Some it might just be tent space, others like Lonna and myself will actually let you in the house

In Michigan the tunnel of trees is a must, it's right on the way as your heading south through the upper part of the lower peninsula towards Traverse City, 119 if memory serves me right. While your heading south if you hit I75 @ Birch Run there is a place called Tony's. Go with a huge appetite as you wont believe the portions. If you have time while your in the upper peninsula go to Tahquamenon Falls, it's beautiful. Lots of neat things in the upper part of Michigan

Chris, Welcome to the site, were glad to have you here. Now if your not too picky on it being brand new, the warranties would still be good for a few more years on used '08 and '09's. Here is an '08 in Ohio for less than $10K http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2459&title=2008-yamaha-royal-star-venture-s-model&cat=4 Others will chime in, but waiting until spring will obviously bring more money to the folks trying to sell their bikes.
