Anytime work on the carbs has been done, a sync should be done. I usually do 2 or 3 a year on my scoots, it's easy an fairly quick procedure.Atleasy once a year is agood rule of thumb if you dont experience any issues. -
I KNOW there will be others with us on that statement....you loose

You could do that, but I would make sure that the receptacle could handle the extra current. I would definitely go with a larger fused wire from the battery and run it into a relay where you could switch the power. That way you could run a small tire pump or such off it. -
Lonna and I were laying in bed last night and I said to her "Annie must be going out of her mind right about now!" I figured you would be leaving tomorrow, have a great flight and we will see you at MD .....were excited too!!

I know some members can feel when their carbs are out of sync with vibrations in the handlebars. I would 1st do a carb sync and see how that works. Then I would go over the bike well and check for loose hardware to make sure nothing is loose or shaking -
2 people agree, close enough to unanimous for me

One of the fuse blocks is under the side cover on the left side of the bike. I dont recall right off my head what fuses are in there. The 2nd fuse block is under the right side lower (if my memory serves me right) and I believe the fuse to the 12 volt plug is under there. Another thing to remember is that the 12 volt plug is only a couple amp fuse, 5 amps I believe. You can't use something in it that sucks the juice or it will blow consistantly. -
There will be plenty of rear wheel greasing going on, bring the grease you want to use and some basic hand tools and it'll get done.

Longer days will get easier as you get used to the bike. If you dont have highway pegs or a backrest, get them, they will help your long distance comfort. As far as the dry splines, if your at all mechanically inclined....do it yourself, dealers suck!

Yes I did make them, unfortunately that is one of the last pics of that particular '99 I owned. The rear tire on that bike blew outside of Baton Rouge LA and we wrecked the bike @ 70 mph. I parted all the salvageable parts out, and sold the covers....I can't recall who bought them

I have done many over 1000 miles on several of the 1st gens I owned. Last year we rode my '89 up to MD in Oberlin Ohio from Houston Texas. That trip was over 3200 miles, no worries and get the VR assistance list and put it on your bike. There are many brothers and sisters here that will help you out all over the USA and Canada should you have an issue.

Seafoam is a good idea and works well, what I also have and still do is run the carb out of fuel. I do this on my '79 Electra Glide as when I 1st received the bike it had been setting for 15 years. My friend who owned it ran it out of gas before he put it up and when we tried to start it up, it was running within 3 times of hitting the starter. If you know your bike is going to be sitting for a prolonged period this can work well too

All the best Gary, my younger brother had a similar surgery about 12 weeks ago and his pain relief was very substantial. Mind your P's&Q's, do what the doc says and get back to better health...Semper Fi Marine.
