Here is what I have dug up so far http://www.jpcycles.com/product/3300730 I believe that these are the right sized ones, they are cheap enough so I will probably just pull the trigger and get a couple of them and see. If so I'll come back on and let others know as I'm sure there are members that would like to replace the faded ones they have.....Thanks for the fast responses fellas -
I haven't been able to find any specific info about the red lens covers that are on the aftermarket chrome trunk wraparound on this '86 I picked up. I'm not sure if they were made by Barons or not, but I think they are. Any of you 1st genners have some info on where to get some new red lenses?

JM, It can be done, I have seen an '07 RSV with that tire on the rear of the bike. I will caution you that the Metzler 880 has a bad track record of throwing rubber chunks off. Obviously pay close attention to the clearances should you install one and your going to have to keep the tire pressure maxed out so you dont get any bulging of the sidewalls as they could rub.

Sounds to me like you have some tuning issues. I dont know how long you have owned the bike or of the maintenance of it before you acquired it, but you might want to consider a complete tuneup. Replacing the plugs caps and wires would be a good start. Also a bit of seafoam in the gas tank wouldn't hurt either, also a carb sync. Let us know a bit of the bikes history and we can get you pointed in the right direction.... -
Looking for...
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Scott, I would definitely be interested in that set, PM me what your looking for them and we'll make it happen. Bobo, I think if it works out I'll be getting those, lets hold off on the set you have for right now...thanks for thinking of me buddy:thumbsup2: -
Glad to hear your back home, it was good talking with you at MD.

A couple of items for the '86 I just picked up. The chrome side covers that sit beside the radiator cover (the triangle ones) and the lower center chrome piece that sits between the bottom of the saddle bags. If any of you 1st genners have these in decent condition let me kn ow as I would rather give my money to one of our own rather than a faceless ebay seller (although I'm sure they are nice folks too)

Terry, Very glad that it's you here telling the story, I have done that dance at 70 mph and was lucky for the wife and I to walk away from it. Sorry to hear about the bike, but any crash you can walk away from is a good thing....all the best mate. -
Just to fill you in, DO NOT USE electrosport! I had issues with them about 3 years ago on a '99 I had, they are a bunch of sheisters. If your going to replace the regulator, go back with a stock one, thats what I did on my '99 at the time and the issue was solved.

We'll be there too

Look at the regulator in front, make sure that the connector plug is in good shape. I had one get hot and melt the plug, I replaced it with a stock Yamaha one after trying an aftermarket that just turned out to be a disaster and a PITA. Also make sure that all your connections from the battery are clean and tight. I have used the Buckeye stator on 2 Ventures 1 RSV and 1 1st gen, they chraged well enough, but I went through hell getting the wires to seal coming through the side cover. For this reason alone I will not purchase another one. Ricks Motorsports http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/aboutus.php sells an upgraded stator and this is what I will try on the next one I swap out.

Brake rebuild question
Squidley replied to mitch77's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mitch, It really all depends upon how mechanically inclined you are. It does take time to go through the brake system, and the rear petal does engage the rear caliper and the left front. The mech is looking at bleeding that linked system and that can be time consuming. The process of delinking isn't rocket science, but you will have to purchase new lines and a splitter to accomplish it. Skydoc17 is a good resource for info on this -
Hey! I was here until 8pm Monday night while you were trying to be superman BIG DUMMY!!

Great story Randy, and as always it was great seeing you and your new lady this weekend....looking forward to seeing you folks again soon

Thats a very cool place if you like aviation stuff Monkey Boy went to the Jim Beam Burbon distillery off of I 65 on his way back to Texas. Might be a neat stop to make and see how they make Burbon out of Moonshine

We have a setup at Kregerdoodles place and we do all our own tires there. It's a very handy piece of equipment to have, were actually looking for a used pneumatic tire machine to put at Kregs place. It was good to meet you as well, too much work going on and not enough time to visit. We'll catch up again at some point I'm sure
-
HF doesn't sell the Motorcycle adapter for that tire changer anymore, they still sell the changer itself. Good meeting you this weekend Fuzzy, hope to catch up with you again

I saw this before and did come up with the punch line. It's all a matter of the numbers, only so many animals and countries with all the fitting criteria...it is kinda neat though
