  1. Been there done that, no shirt. Had mine do the same thing, take the rear master cylinder off and completely clean it out. The return oriface is clogged and wouldn't allow for thermal expansion of the brake fluid. It had to go somewhere and it did, to the calipers and locked them up. I always take the rear MC off of any older bike I work on and completely clean it.
  2. I imagine that will keep him off any bike for a long time. Hope he heals up quick.
  3. Damn Lewis! I certainly hope this gets over with soon my friend...all the best to you bro!
  4. Have a great trip Dennis, we did the West Coast in '06 when we went to the Venture West III rally in Susanville California. Rode 101 up into Oregon and spectacular doesn't even come close to a word for it. Be safe my friend and take lots of pics
  5. Wrong Way about 5 years ago had a charging issue at Vogel in Georgia. He purchased a 2nd battery, eliminated all unnessecary electrical and with a battery tender charging the unhooked battery during stops, rode the bike back to St. Louis. This also might be an option should you get no resolve from the dealer.
  6. They run about 5 lbs of pressure when the engine is hot and at an idle. The 1st time I saw a gauge with that pressure I had a bit of a pucker. Once your running down the road it runs up to about 30 lbs. Believe it or not, the big 3 did tests on oil pressure and 5 lbs of pressure is sufficient at an idle to keep the engine properly lubricated. Guaranteed Yamaha wouldn't offer a 5 year warranty on the bike if they believed the 5 lbs at warm idle wasn't sufficient. Old gearheads are just used to seeing 30 lbs warm oil pressure at an idle....
  7. Thanks folks, I appreciate all the comments....and yes I did write that. Might surprise some of you to know that I did actually write some poetry while I was in the service....but thats another story
  8. Jeff, Let me know if you want a stator, I have the original one I replaced from my '89 when I installed the Buckeye on it. There was nothing wrong with it, but the bike had 100K on it and I figured since I was replacing the starter clutch I would do the stator at the same time.
  9. Cort, Go to the classifieds and when you click on them you will see right under the St Judes Auction area one that says Member Vendors, click on it then the member your looking for.
  10. Not good Lew, I hope you a speedy remedy to this. Let us know what we can do to help you with Vogel...all the best bro.
  11. Make sure when you get the Buckeye stator that you seal both the inside and outside of the block that the 3 phase wires come through the case. I have had 2 Buckeye stators that seeped through where the wires pulled through the block. I used RTV and it's way easier to do when it's virgin and has no oil on it...
  12. Mike, Here is another option http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/aboutus.php I am going to say something here and hopefully it wont be misconstrewed. I have installed 2 of the Buckeye stators on 1st and 2nd gens. They do give a bit more boost in current and I had no issue with that. What I didn't like was that they leaked where the wires came through the sealing block that brings the wires outside of the stator case housing. I had to redo both the bikes they were on as they started seeping where the 3 wires came through, that was no fun. If you do decide to go with the Buckeye stator make sure you seal the wires going through the rubber block well with RTV on the inside and the outside of the block. Also seal the block into the case well as these are a PITA to get clean while still attached. My next Stator upgrade will be from the website above I posted as I would like to see how they work out...
  13. 14 years ago, there was this woman, and she got tangled up with this charismatic younger man. On this day, 14 years ago, she decided to take his name, and she hasn't been the same since then Many miles, trials and tribulations later, here we stand, together still and wondering how fast these 14 years have gone by. Many new friends have been made in this time, and lots of the country seen including both oceans and the majority of the mountain ranges on this continent. I realise how lucky I have been to be able to be the man who has taken you to these places. They are memories that I will always cherish and remember till we are no more. So on this day, the day you said I do to me, I thank you. I thank you for being my wife and loving me, for never giving up on me or us. It hasn't always been easy, but it's been worth it....and I would never change our life together. Happy Anniversary Lonna, 14 years later, I'm still in love with you

  15. All the best to you Ben, there is a plan in place...
  16. I am so sorry to hear this my friend, we talked about him the last time we were able to see you at MD. I wish nothing but the best for your family, take care of yourself and if there is anything we can do you know the #....
  17. Keith, You can pick up one very similar at Autozone or Advance Auto. Cooper Bussman makes a 6 position fuse block, I have installed several of them on 2nd gens and RSTD's. If your looking for something like that let me know and we could install one on your bike.
  18. If you want some easy cheap bolt on performance, get a Dana 3000 ignition and raise the rev limiter up to 7500 rpms and put a Vmax rearend in it. Seat of your pants it will run like hell and in a relatively stock configuration eat most HD's
  19. We'll keep trying my friend, eventually we'll have supper together again
  20. Well Thank you all!....but Tomorrow is our anniversary (June 21st) 14 years ago tomorrow Lonna lost her good sense and decided to marry me. It has been a hell of a ride for both of us, but I wouldn't trade her for anything. It's taken me a long time to train her I'm amazed she still puts up with me Thanks again for all the wishes, I hope she puts up with me more 14 more
