  1. Did you remove the carbs at all when you replaced the valve cover gaskets? If you didn't then I would definitely question the mileage thing. Look for vacuum lines that may have come off or possibly the choke knob not fully retracting the idle enrichment shafts. I dont know how well you know this guy or what kind of friendship you have, but if you did not take money for it, I wouldn't be cancelling anything to work on this bike. If he's a good friend he'll understand and you can come to an agreement. If you did it for money, your not in a good position....
  2. Good to see you folks enjoying yourself
  3. I have pulled hundreeds of rear wheels off both 1st and 2nd gens, NEVER have I seen a bent axle. Sorry to say but your trust in this mechanic might not be a good thing. They are supposed to be strait, not bent. If you had or have a dragging issue I would make sure that the axle spacer is in the right spot and the whole assembly was installed properly
  4. What!....your coming to Paris Texas, when!?
  5. Bob, Glad to hear you were able to make it off safely, we weren't so lucky when our rear tire blew at 75 mph. I will add this in and hopefully not twist someones knickers. If you have a tire that is under inflated and run it in extreme heat and over loaded your asking for trouble (I'm not saying your was) The max pressure on the sidewall will give you the max weight rating if your under inflated you will dramatically loose weight rating. I always run my rear tires at max pressure so I dont "forget" to pump it back up should I take it on a trip. The front tire I usually run 2 or 3 lbs. under max pressure as there is nowhere near the max load on the front tire of any bike. As stated any blowout you can walk away from is a good one, I'm glad to hear you weren't hurt
  6. Yeah....ME!
  7. Be safe my friends, you 2 have a great trip and were looking to live vicariously through those pics your going to take
  8. I know it probably hasn't happened with the "I Do" yet, but I'm so excited that I couldn't wait to post it up. I wish you both all the best in your future together and look very forward to seeing you again as Mr. & Mrs. Nantais. We love you both, Lonna and I wish we could have been there to see it, just know that we were there in spirit with you and everyone else. God Bless you both and here's to many many happy years together!
  9. Great idea Lewis, as soon as you get them let me know and we'll take $20 or so off your hands
  10. Nope, Murphys Law Mike.....it was just you

  12. Have a great trip and time Mr. Ambassador!
  13. All the best to all of you, I have a feeling the daughter will be good. You folks have a safe trip and enjoy yourself. Oh and Tom, you are an ambassador of the United States of America, dont do anything that will tarnish our reputation....especially VRO!
  14. We'd send them out for a padeye puller, man they would be gone all day as all the other Chiefs sent them to different squadrons to try and find it!
  15. Good to see you on the forum again my friend, you'll always be the ambassador to me. Nice car too, no worries about 4 wheels instead of 2, we want you around no matter what it takes. Have fun with it and hope to see you again soon
  16. I have serious doubts that it could be done with an RSV like that. The H/D's have a great low center of gravity and handle VERY well at slower speeds....that was VERY impressive!
  17. Cabin is gone, Thanks for your interest.
  18. Yeah you let the clutch out and it goes ZZZZZZZZZZZ Dammit!
  19. Thanks for coming on and introducing yourself Spencer. You'll find that you will get absolutely unbiased responces here, as seen above We appreciate you being our go to guy and wish you the best of luck with the shilds here
  20. Happy Belated Birthday.....you BIG EEGIT!!
  21. The boost sensor is under the battery box area, on the left side of the bike (when sitting on it) right next to the TCI. You can check it while it's in position as it sucks to get it out. It operates off #2 cylinders vacuum (left front) and electronically tells the TCI to advance the timing when throttle is applied due to the vacuum fluxuation. You can take the hose off the carb intake and try to pull a vacuum on it with a mighty vac. If it holds vacuum then that portion of it is working, if it wont hold a vac it's absolutely bad. I just replaced one on my '86 although I didn't have the issue you are having as mine would still ramp up to redline without the boost sensor working
  22. All the best to you John, just take it easy and get your strength back. Dont risk screwing something up because you "Think" you can do something.
  23. OK Folks, I just talked with Larry at the campground, we have a cabin reserved from the 25th thru the 28th so 4 nights. What we can do is simply swap this room into whoevers name wants this cabin. For anybody interested get ahold of me and and we'll make the switchover.
  24. I have used these in the past http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/3809/Dually-ISO-Pegs-without-Adapters http://www.jcwhitney.com/custom-mount-elliptical-rail-foot-pegs/p2002576.jcwx?filterid=c14701o40j3 The 2nd one from JC Whitney are good quality and for the price are very hard to beat.
  25. It is some good stuff, I would run it for perhaps 6 more tanks and then you'll be fine as long as you run the bike with some sort of regularity. Your basically just cleaning out all the old fuel deposits with the Seafoam....enjoy your ride
