Some of the members here know that Rob Wynn (aamcotrans formerly) is en route back to Virginia. He just called me outside Montgomery Alabama and is heading towards Atlanta GA on I85. If anyone in that stretch of highway has a spare chunk of floor or such that he could use for the night could you please call or text him on his cell, the # is 540 671 9330. He is house broken and and besides just being ugly, is a decent fella, we've had him here at the house several times spending the night. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help him out

If you decide to rebuild the master cylinder make sure that the bore is perfect. You'll be wasting your time and efforts on a marginal cylinder. I agree with Gary buy a new one if that is in fact the issue and be done with it.

When was the last oil change? All my Ventures would shift harder the closer I came to changing the oil

I believe that the '83 was the only one that didn't have it. Now I could be mistaken, but I want to say that my '84 had one, hopefully a MKI guy will come on and pipe up. I have always used a tip cleaner for a cutting torch and that has worked out well.

Being that the rear petal controls both the front left caliper and the rear one, you may still have air in the system. Did you bleed it up at the steering head? I usually bleed the rear caliper 1st and get it solid there, then I go to the bleeder up by the steering head and get solid fluid from there, then down to the front left caliper and the anti dive. It's not a lot of fun sometimes, I have gone through it. ou can also try to reverse bleed it by pushing fluid back through the lines and into the master cylinder. I one day spent 2 weeks bleeding brakes on a 1st gen, a vacuum bleeder is a nice thing to have too.

Mileage wise 97K equates to about 60K in US miles, which really isn't a lot of miles for these motors. I have a hard time believing there would have to be a valve job done on it. Thats not saying that a valve isn't cracked, but like FLB 79 mentioned I would check the adjustment. Lots of things can make the bike pop, AIS hoses disconnected, Y pipes cracking (which is an issue) The leakdown will give erroneous results if it's out on the shimming. Something is telling me there's a bit more to it. There are unscroupulous folks that will say whatever they can to get a meal ticket (not saying this is the case) but I would check some lesser invasive things before I even considered a valve job.

Bolt size?
Squidley replied to ride4ever1961's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I believe that it's an 8mm with a 125 thread pitch, take one out of the other side and go up to your ACE hardware and match it up, thats what I do.- 4 replies

I'm wrong a LOT, but I know that Todd loves to drag the boards of his '86. So much so that he has Titanium bolts under them to throw maximum sparks. He has shaved though and that threw me at 1st....your still my hero Eck
-
I agree with Mark, Todd had the stick on bullet holes in his windshield too as the pic Mark posted up does. The pics in his profile are several years old, I'm still sticking with it being Todd

She is badass now...isn't that cool! -
That is most definitely Todd! He has some special bolt heads under the floorboards to create all the sparks....great pic of him on the Dragon PS...Love the Venturerider sticker on the windshield!!

Tahquamenon Falls is a must in my book, Pictured Rocks on Lake Superior, Copper Harbor on the Keewenaw peninsula. Maritime museum at Whitefish point, there's a lot of cool things up there.

If your not running air in it, get a plug the same thread as the shrader valve. You did mention that the opposite one is not hitting, have you tried to turn the problem one to see if it can clear or are the bars not evenly split in the clamps?

All the best to you Marine, if the spit in your eye is any indication you'll come through just fine. Take care of yourself and it will all fall into place

radio on 91 vr ??
Squidley replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Dave, As far as I know, without some MAJOR modifications, it's not possible. The CB runs through the amp that the radio hooks into and subsiquently blocks out the radio when the CB is energized.
