Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
Squidley replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Ok Folks, I haven't wanted to go into any detail about Ponch's bike, as I am having some issues with what has happened. Now this is MY words, nobody else's, so take all this at face value. There were pics taken of Davids bike, but were not going to be putting them up anytime soon. Kathy has decided to let the insurance company take the bike. I do not know if David knows this, or if he agreed to this. I have my opinion that he doesn't know that his bike is gone. I could absolutely be wrong, but these are my thoughts. Kathy was plenty pissed and said she wanted the bike in their garage so if she wanted to she could take a bat to it. We dont know if there was a fair price given for the bike and all the extras (which were insured) in the settlement. Kathy did not try to consult (not that she had to) any of us here about if the offer was a good settlement. There is a lot going on here that the majority of you folks dont, and will not know about. This thread and/or the site is no place for it. I know some of you will read into this, please dont. Kathy is doing as she see's fit with David and all of us, am I happy about it...No, but it's her business and there's nothing any of us can do about it. Until David can make independent decisions on his own and talk directly with us, were at the call of his family. I am not going to go any further into this, I will not answer any questions about what I have just written. Please just keep David in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully he will remember us and will continue to get better. -

Do a carb sync before you do anything else, also check for any vacuum leaks, both in the AIS system and vacuum caps. Installing the K&N's and the pipes will not affect the jetting enough to notice.

Heres a bit more.... Shannon sent Monkey Boy a text this morning, I'll post here what she had to say... "Good morning, no news is good news. We get distracted and forget which one of us called who lol. He is breathing on his own with the trache and his wounds are healing everyday. They have started to give him some medication to help him wake up, we are anxious to see if it helps. Otherwise all is good. Thats what we have from Shannon today, we'll keep after it and as soon as he gets a room out of ICU we can get some more info, keep it up folks, both for Ponch and Hals sister...everything all at once it seems here in Ventureland -
'Bout damn time Pops!....we'll be there

Headset without the helmet speakers
Squidley replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wally, When we 1st got into the touring bikes I spend a decent amount of money on our headsets. They are J&M and I built the setup that is in our helmets. They dont have speakers just the boom mic and hookup on the side of the helmet. The clarity was what I was worried about when I transmitted on the CB and I wasn't disappointed. I listen to the music and the CB transmissions over the speakers on the bike. You can buy a less expensive set and as others mentioned, cut the speaker leads off which will also work. -
Use the Bias ply on the RSV Wil, I have run them and they are a resonable tire. My 1st choice is Avon Venoms as I have had the best luck with them, I've tried all the others and for me the Avons work best for my style of riding

Squidley replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I liked my Commanders on my '99 and was disappointed that they quit making them. We'll have to see how these new ones are and hopefully they will make the std size front for the RSV as I wont use the 130- 2 replies

The correct way to cure that is what has been mentioned. The rims have a clearcoat on them and the rim edges where the beads seat starts to flake off and this causes rims leaks. I have repaired hundreds of them in my time. Wire wheel the entire bead seat area clean to the aluminum. I would always use a product called bead seal and paint it right where the rim edge meets the body of the rim. Install the tire and you wont have any more worries PS....dont use inner tubes, they will work, but if you pick up a nail the tire will go immediately flat. On a tubeless setup you will have a slow leak and be able to drive it to get it repaired.

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
Squidley replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Ok Folks, Some more news to pass on, we had a little set back, nothing dramatic, but it was caught before it was a problem. Upon doing another CT scan they found of all things a tooth in David's windpipe. More than likely when they installed the respirator down his throat, one of his loose teeth went down. The tube is keeping it in place, but obviously it has to be removed. They were going to take the tube out this weekend and perform a tracheotomy, where then they would catch the tooth and remove it out of the trache opening. Further examination discovered David has an infection by the tube. They have decided to hold off on removal of the tooth, tubes and trache untill early next week to clear up the infection. He still seems good other than this setback and as soon as we have more info we'll keep you updated. As Tom mentioned, I am VERY confident that this has been a result of our vigilance with keeping David in our thoughts and prayers. Keep it up, were making a difference -
Go out and buy a lottery ticket, that is unbelieveable.

Hate hearing news like this, and very grateful that you folks weren't on the bike. Hopefully Joyce will not feel too bad and you'll get the car fixed. Glad it wasn't worse my friend, take care of yourselves.
