Squidley Driving Light Brackets
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm not sure I like that noise coming from you mister! -
Dave If you could post up a pic of what your talking about it might help. I'm having a hard time thinking ofwhat your description is on a 2nd gen.

I have a strange question here, does anyone have a set of the driving light brackets that I made that they didn't install on their bike? I would like to try and get a set back if someone has a set laying around that they didn't use, please send me a PM if you have a set and want to get rid of them....Thanks

It doesn't look like the Markland brand that I have seen before, this would mean there was more than 1 option....interesting

Is the 1st pic a pair of driving light brackets?

Steve, As Kreg mentioned, there is a good amount of us in the Houston area. I'm in Conroe as well as Jus Monkeyin Around, Gunboat is in Cleveland, Kregerdoodle is in Waller, Dave77459 is in Sugarland, Pktexas is southside Houston...there's a lot of us that like to ride and get together for bike maintenance or just to go eat and put a few miles on. I personally have had 8 Ventures, 4 of them being 2nd gens. They are a great machine and like everyone mentioned...bulletproof. I sold an '89 1st gen with 110K on the clock and it would take down just about anything I wanted to play with, they run that good with over 100K on them. It's the most comfortable bike out of the box that I have ridden. I love the feet fwd design and my wife loves the passenger ergonomics. Hopefully we'll see you soon at one of the meets and eats and you can get a feel for us. By all means if you have other questions ask them, lots of experience on this site thats more than willing to help....- 30 replies

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!

My apologies for not getting on here sooner, life in Texas hasnt slowed down for us As mentioned by Gunboat, several of us were able to go see David on Sunday. I can't express how good it felt to be able to have a conversation with one of my best friends in almost 2 months! I have been praying harder than I ever remember during this time and as hard as I tried to look at the positive of David surviving during the last 2 months, my heart has been dragging. David mentioned when I walked in that my face was familiar, he didn't get the name right at 1st, but I could look him in the eye and we could talk with eachother. That was the moment for me, we may have to rebuild our friendship from scratch, but I will gladly do that to have David back in our lives We brought down the laptop with many picture folders of Rally's and MD's and started showing them to David. His eyesight is a bit funky right now, but he is able to make out the pics if he looks hard at them. He did pretty good at recognising people from the pictures, this give me great hope that he will continue to get some more of his memory back. Another one of my moments is when both he and I busted on Doodle as we were looking through the pics. I almost cried I was so happy that it seemed a little more like normal between the 3 of us (For those of you that dont know Ponch, Kregerdoodle or myself, we are best friends and are ALWAYS busting eachothers chops!) David will talk your ear off! he is still very emotional as there is so much he is trying to absorb and comprehend. His voice is not the same right now as he is healing from the trache and his vocal cords haven't been used in 6 weeks or better. We would have stayed a bit longer, but he had some other friends of the family show up and we didn't want to take from their time with him. He was very sad to see us go and tears flowed from both sides, he really didn't want to let go of Lonna's hand, god love him. We promised we would be back and we will, I may try to get back down there Saturday and see him for a while. In all reality, what we have witnessed through this site is a miracle. I dont usually get too preachy, but all that happened with David, surviving a stroke and a 60mph motorcycle crash is nothing short of miraculous. I will forever believe that it was all of you folks, and the thousands of others that talked with God, who led David back to us. I'm a firm believer that we all have a purpose on this planet, God knows we shouldn't have survived our crash in '08....but there were other plans for us, as I'm sure there is for David. I can't thank you all enough for keeping David and his family in your thoughts. I can rest a bit easier knowing that when I left David at the hospital on Sunday, I was able to look him in the eye....and tell him that I loved him -
Jack is a good guy, he's had that '86 that used to be mine going on 6 years now, he bought it from me in July of '06. It's good that you got to hook up with someone kind of local to you. Hell I've been known to travel 200 miles for ice cream and then back home

All the best to them both.... -
Dan, In all seriousness, dont jump in full bore, you will just hurt yourself. Build up to it, do more cardio that weights starting off. Get your body used to a gradual change, you didn't get this way over night. Go 3 times a week, then when you dont hurt so bad, go more often. Little steps man, you definitely dont need to pull muscles because you could do a certain thing at one point in your life....keep it up!

Another good update, Monkey Boy and his gal Naynay went to the rehab center on Sunday and I'm happy to say that David is doing much better. They can't hardly get him to shut up now! He remembers faces, but is sometimes having hard times recalling names. He did remember "Monkey Boy" screen name, so this is good. He is emotional right now as he is trying to process an incomprehensible amount of information, as his brain is still healing and making the connections for memory. Lonna and I are going to see him this weekend, more than likely Sunday. He is coming along and I am so grateful that you folks have continued to keep him in your thoughts. Still a long way to go but he has said several times he wants to go back to work. I'll keep y'all informed as I know more....Thank You all for believing -

Thank you folks, I appreciate the wishes. Only 45 this year, still a few more to go for that half century mark. I still remember that MOST of you are older than me, and I'll treat you as the old folks you are Thanks again

Folks, Just a word of caution here, use your better judgement when purchasing this. It may very well be on the legit, but if you dont feel good about it, as far as purchasing it, dont. I have never hear of this before, that doesn't mean anything, but like mentioned your dealing with an overseas entity...

Confidence in your bikes ability to do what you ask it to do will make you a better rider. As many have mentioned Bridgestones are junk, and the 404 Dunlop doesn't have a much more favorable rating with me. The right shock pressure is crucial too , but it's all in how you ride and like the suspension to feel and fit you, so thats subjective. 200 to 220 lbs, I would probably try 30ish in the rear shock and 3 lbs in the front. You dont want the front end to feel washy in a curve and thats why I mention a bit of air in the front forks. Some folks run zero, but thats what they are comfortable with. A good set of tires and the right air pressures WILL make your bike handle LOTS better. PS also remember too that you need to keep the rear tire max inflated if your going 2 up. I always keep the rears at max and the front 2 or 3 lbs under max
