  1. I'm not really worried if the price is too low. Like I said, a friend helped get me on a Venture without much expense, and so I am wanting to do the same for someone else. I know some here may have a friend that is thinking about getting a Venture, but just doesn't have the cash to spend on one right now, or anyone who has lost their job, or had their hours cut, and had to get rid of their scoot....this could provide an option to help them out. We have to take care of each other.
  2. Since I am getting my new scoot next week, I am tossing around the idea of letting the 1st Gen go. A friend made me a REALLY good deal when I bought the 1st Gen, and I would like to pay it forward to someone who doesn't have much money to buy one, or has lost their scoot because of hard times. The scoot doesn't look quite as good as it does in my profile pic, but those here who have seen it can attest to the fact that it is still a pretty good looking scoot. I can supply recent pics upon request. Here are the details: '83 standard am/fm/cd player with upgraded speakers Luggage rack Trailer hitch Passenger floorboards Dunlop Elite 3s with 6k on them(LOTS of tread left) Replaced all of the brakes last spring when I got the tires. Battery is about 3 weeks old, with one year replacement warranty. Overall good condition, and I can get on it and ride it anywhere...if it would just warm up, lol. The bad: needs 2nd gear fix. Never bothered me much. I just usually skip 2nd. Fork seals leak. Could use fork rebuild and progressive springs. The scoot runs really well, and although not great, is in pretty good shape. I ride it to work(80 miles round trip) whenever the weather lets me. Last time was 2 weeks ago. I am willing to let it go for $1000. Does that sound like a fair price? I don't need it anymore, and I thought maybe I could help someone else out, rather than let it sit. If interested, let me know.
  3. I used to have a Basset, and his name was...Rover....no lie. We finally lost him to heartworms. That was back before we knew much about heartworms. My dog gets the medicine for it every month now.
  4. If your clutch slips, then when you shift, the bike will rev higher until it finally goes in. It will usually take it a few seconds to start pulling like it should. That's it in a nutshell anyway.
  5. Just be glad you had the surgery when you did, so that you may be ready when warm weather comes. Here's hoping for a fast recovery.
  6. I am ready for it to be over too. Tired of the rain and snow. This time next month, we should be good.......I hope.
  7. LMAO, That is awesome!
  8. Sure thing Don. My offer still stands. You got your wig picked out yet?
  9. It's a Corbin.

  13. I now have 2 Ventures. I will be picking up my 2nd Gen(Sorry Yammer) next Week from Buddy. Yes, I am excited!:cool10::cool10: http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/DSCN4500.jpg
  14. Tell him he better heal up soon, as I just bought a new scoot. You can always take the trike out and do some donuts in the snow.
  15. And remember...NEVER....use a vacuum cleaner to dust your computer!! Use low pressure air only.
  16. The Honda Magna is a cruiser, like alot of the suggestions so far have been. These are sport tourers... http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/sport_touring_04_main.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/ST_GRoup.jpg
  17. I dug out my old Triplett. It has a calibration sticker on it from 1979. It looks like you can still order this exact meter new. Don't know the price, though. It's just the right size for the scoot, and I may see if I can find a battery. It looks like it is a common 15 volt camera battery. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/IMG_0366.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/IMG_0367.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/IMG_0368.jpg
  18. Nice! Glad I could help. Looks better than mine.
  19. I have an OLD Triplett meter, and the leather case it came in. It's in very good shape, but I haven't messed with it because it has very odd batteries. Square batteries, and I think one is a 3 volt and one is a 1.5, or something like that. I really can't remember right now. I need to look on the internet. I wonder if anyone still makes those batteries. The perfect combination would be a Fluke 87 and a Simpson 260. One high impedance, and one low impedance.
  20. Fluke makes the best meters, in my opinion. I used to work in the test equipment repair shop at SIMA, while on shore duty with the Navy. While I was still working in the industry, I did a little shopping around, and found a TENMA meter that had better specs than the Fluke 87, and was only $179, so I bought it, and wasn't disappointed. As said above, if you don't use a meter very much, or are just going to use it on your scoot or around the house, then you can buy a decent little meter from Radio Shack for not much money.
  21. I hope she finds a decent job that she enjoys....and soon. Jobs are hard to find right now, but maybe this was a blessing in disguise, because her dream job is about to open up for her. One can only hope. Good luck!!
  22. Sorry to hear this sad news. You are all in our thoughts here.
  23. LMAO!! You guys crack me up!
  24. LOL, that's a little out of my reach. Now, if you wanna bring it here, that's different....lol It's just a short ride...then swim....then ride.
  25. THIS is a real sport touring bike. http://www.dirks-motorradseiten.de/FJR_silverstorm2007.jpg I have a few friends that have these FJRs, and they love them.
