  1. ...Another reason I build my own, and install whatever I need to make it last for as long as I need it.
  2. Well, I built this desktop about 5 years ago, and it does great, but it's time to build a new one. Starting my new build this week. This machine... AMD XP 4000+ processor 2.1ghz 2gb DDR2 memory, I think 800mhz Nvidia Geforce 7800GS 256mb AGP video card HT Omega 7.1 surround sound card 500 gb hard drive 24" Acer monitor 1 DVD burner & 1 DVD ROM 550w power supply Windows XP SP3 My new one will have... Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support ... HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Possibly going to add a 60gb SSD drive also. 42" 1080P monitor. Windows 7 Home Premium This will be my 1st Intel build. I have always used, and had good luck with AMD. I was going to wait for the bulldozer (The FX-8120 8-core), but I have seen too many bad reviews on it. I'm building for gaming, and this i5 2500k blows the bulldozer out of the water.
  3. Glad she's ok, and I hope she is pain free tomorrow. She's lucky.
  4. Practice practice practice. Best thing you can do.
  5. Happy Birthday Charlie!! I'll drink a few cold ones for your birthday. Too cold and windy for decent fishing here. Winds have been 20-25 mph for days.
  6. The only thing I can think of, is your bike is nearing the mileage where the 2nd gear issue starts to show up. Yours may have already been fixed. It won't keep you from finishing your trip, but it will just make it a little annoying for you. Do a search on here for 2nd gear issue, if you want to learn more.
  7. I looked up the specs on your Dell, and this card should do everything you need it to do. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150570 Since you're not into gaming, this card will suffice. It will give you good performance, without having to upgrade your power supply. It does come with a decent game, but if you don't want it, just give it away as a Christmas gift. I build gaming PCs. Getting ready to start building my latest one next week.
  8. Just remember...your download speed is only as fast as the upload speed of the site you're getting it from.
  9. Here's an idea....If they bother you that much...DON'T BUY EITHER ONE. Both cars are overrated status symbols anyway. The Lexus is just an expensive Toyota, and the Audi is just an expensive Volkswagon. Go look at some other cars that you both may actually like, without worrying about what the nameplate says on the outside. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Rick, I have one similar to that, and yes it is handy...but...you don't want to use an ungrounded soldering iron on circuit boards. Great for wires though.
  11. Better?
  12. I love that video. Watched it many times, but it's still hilarious.
  13. This is what I use for circuit boards. Part# 64-2184. Works fine for those applications. I used to be a 2M (micro miniature) soldering tech, soldering under a microscope, and doing multi-layer boards. I am waaaay too shaky for that stuff now. Sorry, the pics got kinda squshed when I resized them. The tip is longer than that.
  14. Maybe sucked up a piece of trash, and it finally worked it's way through?
  15. So...did you get your scooter yet?
  16. We will be in Florida next June for my Ship reunion. Angie and I are thinking of leaving after the reunion, and hopping on a cruise ship to somewhere in the Carribean. Would really like to go back to St. Thomas again.
  17. Bud Light? I thought you drank Michelob Ultra. You know, dirty water in a bottle...lol.
  18. This is what worked best for me. No compressing at all. Pulled it from Oklahoma to Tennessee with no problems. I40 in Oklahoma and Arkansas is one of the roughest roads in the country, too.
  19. I think you can find those same LEDs at Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc...
  20. We currently have 78 VR members in there now.
  21. If anyone on here wants to join the Venturerider group, go to this page and request to join, then myself or one of the other administrators will add you to the group. http://www.facebook.com/groups/144033808988878/
  22. Randy, I'm glad you got it sold, if that's what you really want. We will miss riding with you and Beth, but I'm sure we'll see each other again eventually. Enjoy your boat, I know we have been enjoying ours. Have fun, and tell Beth we said hi. Fair winds and following seas to ya.
  23. I was against it for a long time. I decided to try it out last January, and I ended up forming a group for all of the Plankowners(original crew) of a ship that I served on. I haven't spoke to most of those guys for over 22 years. Out of a crew of 335, I have brought together about 250 of them. We now have our first reunion scheduled for next summer, on the anniversary of our ships' commissioning. Facebook can be used for good or bad. I don't do reposts, or play games or apps, I just use it as another way to keep up with friends and family.
  24. Only time I'm on at that time of the morning, is when I'm drunk, and I really shouldn't be posting. But, I still do, you just have to take it with a grain of salt...lol.
