  1. Thanks. He has ordered a new set of mirrors. Members from GSResources and ClassicUJM have already donated tach, cluster and handlebars. We are going over the bike to see what all it needs. He borrowed the money yesterday to fix it.
  2. Just glad no one was hurt.
  3. Not for long though, as small block chebbies are notoriously weak. It WILL blow up. Nice ride, though.
  4. I guess it won't be too bad. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091639a.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091640a.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091640b.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091640c.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091640d.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091640e.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/0615091641a.jpg
  5. Ok, he just called and said they checked him out, and he had a CT scan. He has a bruised kidney, and it had bled a little bit. Other than that, they say he's ok. Very lucky.
  6. Wife took him to the Doctor this morning. He was peeing a little blood, so we talked him into going. We looked at the bike this morning and it can be fixed. I have a parts bike we can get some stuff from. He says he's gonna take out a loan and fix it back up. The boy just refuses to buy a car, because he likes to ride so much. I started him out on a little Yamaha YZ50 when he was 5 years old, and he has ridden ever since. I should know something soon, after they get home from the Doctor. I know trauma can make you pee blood, and hopefully it's nothing serious. I did a patient assessment on him at the scene last night, and he seemed ok. No swelling or pain/tenderness in the torso. He refused to go to the ER last night, and he is over 18 and stubborn, so we didn't make him go.
  7. Thanks for the support my friends. No, the other driver never stopped...typical.
  8. When I bought my Venture, I sold my 20 yr old son my beautiful '82 Suzuki GS850L that I had driven for years. Tonight, some idiot runs him off the road by driving in the wrong lane. He high sided in the ditch, and rolled it several times. He is ok, other than a few scrapes and bruises. The bike is junk. It was only about a mile from home, and I was able to ride it home after straightening a few things out. We are all telling him just how lucky he is to be alive, as it often turns out much worse. Gonna be sore the next few days. I'm just glad he's still here. Bad thing is, he's going thru a rough divorce right now, and isn't taking it well. This was his only form of transportation, and it was kind of his way of getting away from it all...now he doesn't even have that. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/DJBikes.jpg
  9. Here ya go. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=90 The little knob is a cover for the schrader valve to the front forks. It's where you add/remove the air.
  10. Glad they are ok...could have been much worse. Another tip....NEVER ride behind a truck hauling cattle or hogs. Can get quite messy when they pee.
  11. Well, I guess I need to replace my steering head bearings. I had the wobble at 80mph or so, and I tightened up the steering head a little. Now, the wobble is much better, but the steering response is way too sensitive now. It kind of feels like my tires are one inch wide now, and the bike teeters all over the place. Any small amount of input from me, and it overcorrects badly. I am constantly correcting back and forth when I am trying to cruise along. At acceleration, it is great, and as I said the wobble problem isn't near as bad. The bars aren't tight feeling either, just squirrelly. Sound like maybe new bearings and races will cure this?
  12. I think that's what mine are. They don't actually say waterproof on the box, but the speakers look like they are made out of rubber, instead of the usual paper or cloth stuff.
  13. Nice! Gonna be a big'n too I'll bet. Lotsa energy right now also:178:.
  14. Now, Eck has a "Gold-ding". Get it? Oh well, I am amused easily.
  15. Kewl, so no one claimed her. She's gonna eat you outta house and home...lol. Here is my Otis... When I first got him... http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/otis3.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/otis4.jpg And now, at 3 years... http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Otis5.jpg
  16. Where did you mount the other 2 speakers? I added a Sony CD player and a good set of Soundstream 4" 100w speakers. It sounds really good going down the road, but 2 more speakers would be great.
  17. Gotta admit his response WAS funny tho.
  18. Any of y'all ever do this? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsPjNYY5GvM&feature=related]YouTube - GL1800 Goldwing Wheelie[/ame] Really speaking to the 1st genners. I know the 2nd gens can't hang.
  19. :rotfl:
  20. Hate that you crashed your new ride, but glad you are ok. Many are not so lucky.
  21. Congrats!
  22. I looked at my house, and it's over 2 years old.
  23. Wish I had the spare change right now. I only live 150 miles from him.
  24. I love it!! Being a Firefighter for 11 years, I can appreciate it.
  25. I have a Kruzer Kaddy also, but mine is chrome and cost $40.
