Pretty sure dynamic Don and team have it all well documented somewhere in the tech pages...but real quickly, what you're describing is typically caused by the connections where the cables come together inside the fairing being a little loose. Pull them all apart, put a little dialectric grease in, and reseat them....I took a little extra time and used wire-ties to pull the connections together tightly. Never any problems after I finally figured it out on the 99, and then did on the 06 before we ever even rode it. Good luck.

Is it possible to tow one bike with another?
FJR Rider replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Trailer Talk
I took the pix from the FJR Forum, so not real sure on the weight of the bike or trailer, or how it towed. But looking at the trailer, it appears to be primarily aluminum so likely fairly light. The race bike on the trailer looks like a 600cc and as set up for racing is going to be less than 300 pounds. I would venture an educated guess the combined weight of the trailer, bike, and the few items he's carrying is less than 500 pounds....a little more than a loaded Bunkhouse camper weighs, but not much.- 32 replies

We pull a Bunkhouse. As long as the tongue weight is between not over 30lb, it pulls like a dream. Notice the weight of the trailer and contents mostly under hard braking....notice it a little pulling away from a stop, but not much. Never sways! The RSV has no problem pulling it, along with the combined weight of myself and my wife. Bike in the pix is our old bike.

Glad you're feeling better! Answer to your question...friends take care of friends. Curt Posts from the OTHER site post 1 I see over at VR site that Bongobob is in hospital due to ongoing leg infection problems, they had to amputate one toe. Apparently they hope to release him from hospital early next week. I'm hoping he has a speedy recovery....thoughts and prayers going out to him. _________________ Neil86 post 2 Prayers from RI. http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html What is the proper way to wear a flag patch on one's shoulder sleeve? http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/images/flagleft.gif Left Flag http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/images/flagright.gif Right or "reversed field" flag http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/images/petraeus.jpg General David Petraeus To wear our country's flag properly, the field of stars is worn closest to your heart. Further, when worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating. Thus, if your patch is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, use a left flag (normal). For patches worn on your RIGHT sleeve, use a "right" or "reversed field" flag. Since the Flag Rules do not specifically address the positioning of the patch, a decision is left to the discretion of the organization prescribing the wear. Some elect to use the "left" flag on both sleeves. [Note: many states and cities have ordinances pertaining to the use of the flag; you may wish to contact the Attorney General of your state or the City Attorney's office regarding this matter.] If you are planning to wear only one patch, it is recommended that you wear a "left" flag on your left sleeve. Military guidelines specify that in support of joint or multi-national operations (as in Iraq), the "right" flag is worn on the right sleeve (see picture), 1/4" below the shoulder seam or 1/8" below any required unit patches. (Class A uniform excepted.) Some people find the "right flag" disrespectful of the flag and some are calling it the "wrong flag." They seek to gain support to encourage a change in the regulations to always use a "left flag" even on a right sleeve. Source: Army Website FAQs

Headed from Suamico (Green Bay) down to East Moline to see Lumpy and some of the other Irregulars, and then Sunday over to Rock Falls IL for Miss Stephanie's (Elkhunt Clan) HS graduation and party Sunday afternoon. Back to East Moline for the evening and then a nice leisurely backroad ride home to Suamico Monday. Curt

Have lived in WI for the 7.5 years and both the Madison & Green Bay areas have been 10% ethenol during that time. My experience seems to definitely vary from others, but I've never had any problems on any of my bikes (95 Concours, 99 RSV, 03 FZ1, 06 RSV, & 06 RSV) with lot's a miles between them. Will occasionally run E20 when I know it's going to go straight through in a day's ride.

Check either J&P or JCW, both have bags (by Hopnel) you can put on the saddlebag rails just behind the passenger floorboards. The ones for HD's fit perfectly as well, just a tad more expensive. I have one for the right side and drink holder one for the left side that I had on our 99...haven't put them on our 06 as I kind tore up the bottom of the drink holder dragging in the turns Here's a couple of sources: http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?products_id=5352 http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=0&manufacturer_ID=62&product_ID=2052&sblid_name=Hopnel_Beverage_Holder http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=0&manufacturer_ID=62&product_ID=2054&sblid_name=Hopnel_Saddlebag_Rail_Bag___Right_Side http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=0&manufacturer_ID=62&product_ID=7060&sblid_name=Hopnel_Windshield_Tri_Pouch_with_Velcro_Closure If you're new to the 2d Gen, I've got quite a bit of experience with them as this is our second RSV (about 85,000 miles between two of them). Posted a "wanted" ad in the Classified here regarding seats, plus I'd also suggest posting in both the RSV/RSTD and Royal Star forums on Delphi. I have another location as well, but I promised to not advertise here. Since you're in Suamico, drop me a note at concours9@sbcglobal.net and maybe we can get together. I loved Scarecrow's work on our 99 and on our Bushtec Roadstar....but I really like the old school style I had done on the 06. I actually have a little bit more striping on the 06, but it cost me 1/2 as much to have the 06 done last summer as what Scarecrow charged for 99 back in 01. Biggest difference though is if you look at the 99 pix there's four colors there which is 'crow's trademark. On the 06 I only wanted two colors as I wanted the striping to be as subtle as possible. Plus this time I wanted the more angular straight line old school style compared to swooping and stars style of the 'crow. Both Scarecrow and the guy who did my 06 used one-shot sign paint. The poster was concerned about how it would hold up...the striping on our 99 was done in April 01 at about 16,000 miles....when I traded the 99 for my FJR, it was April 07 and the bike had 73,000 miles on. There were no chips in the striping, even on the lowers which took the most abuse from rocks and bugs. A testiment to Scarecrow and the quality of his work. I believe from watching the guy who did my 06, I don't expect any problems there either. Curt

Here's some from our 99. This pinstriping was done by the Scarecrow. The 06 was pinstriped by a sign painter near Eau Claire WI.

Old school...are you thinking something like this? This is on our 06 RSV. What I really like about the pinstriping this guy did for me is you don't notice it until right up on the bike and then it's a "wow." Exactly what I asked the guy to do. The lighter color actually shows up better in the pics, it's lighter on the bike outside. Plus I had the buy do a few things I hadn't seen before on anyone else's RSV and that I had done on our 99 (pinstriping at that bike by the Scarecrow). Our 06 is the first (if somebody else has already done, I apologize in advance for saying I think I was first) I've seen where the top of the dash (behind the windscreen) is pinstriped. I also have small touches in a couple of places most folks wouldn't notice, but if entered in show would help the bike win. I'll post a couple of pix of our 99 in another post. Curt

Here's a novel idea....hire some marketing people who know what touring is and what touring bikes are. Otherwise, EFI, a slight bodywork makeover, and new electronics.
-
Maybe a little more than you want to spend, but have you considered having the 06 style badges painted on the tank? Would give the tank and the bike a great custom look. From the looks of some of your other rides, custom is something you like Curt (06 RSV & 07 FJR)
