Great looking cars. What is the big GM vehicle? Dave
-
Greetings all, Thanks to the information I have found here on the greatest web sit in the world, I was able to gather the courage to do some upgrades to my '84. 1. I have installed new horns, with a seperate circuit 2. Rear LED running/brake lights 3. Exhaust turn down tips located on eBay 4. NOS Venture Luggage Rack Thanks to Interlakes Sports Center, Madison, SD great guys to work with. I think the main reason that Doug Koch, co-owner, really likes to help me out with the Venture is that he had one as a Demo in 1983-85. He told me that it was one of the best bikes he had ever ridden. Again, thanks to all you that have shared your know-how with these great bikes. Dave

I have just posted an ad in the classifieds, Accessories for all bikes catagory, for an NOS HondaLine trunk mounted luggage rack. I had it on my bike for about one month. The only reason I took it off is the dealer here in Madison, SD, located an NOS Venture rack in his back room for me. I will include shipping fees in the purchse price of $60.00. I know photos are required, but my camera is on the blink right now. I will add them when I get it working. Thanks, Dave

I, too have been looking to either replace the broken on or both. I saw this on JC Whitney this morning. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2003430/c-10111/Nty-1/p-2003430/Ntx-mode+matchall/N-111+600014762/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=lights http://www.jcwhitney.com/wcsstore/jcwhitney/images/imagecache/G_13430G_SW_1.gif I don't know if it will work or not, the description reads 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" x 1/2"D and I measured the hole in the "scoop" as being 2 1/4" X 2 3/4". Depends on if the back side is angled i guess. Going to keep looking though. Dave

I know I have not been a member here as long as some folks, but I have been reading many of the tech threads and I get a charge out of the good natured bantering that goes on here, but I have a question tht has been bothering me as of late. What I would like to know, Don, with all you do to run the site, work, take care of your health, familly and household, (not to mention keeping the inmate in this asylum in line), how do you find time to RIDE? I don't have a third on my plate as you do and I have only been able to put on about 2000 miles this year. Just wanted to put out a heart-felt thank you and keep up the good work! Dave

"Scotch-Lock" removal
bendtdj replied to bendtdj's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I was thinking that soldering the wires for the LED into the existing wires was the way to go. I will keep on keeping on after work this evening. Dave- 4 replies

I need to pick the brains of the membership here. I am in the process of installing an LED brake/running light on my 84. I have removed the trunck, trunk mounting bracket, and the plastic cover under that. I discovered that some time in the past, someone wired in a trailer conector. The trouble I have is that they used the Scotch lock connectors. What would be a good way to remove these? When I get them removed, would a good spray of contact cleaner and then a covering of liquid tape be appropriate? I have used these connectors in the past, always with less that good results. Thanks to all, Dave

I too, am a Service Connected Desabled Vet. I am sorry to hear of so many of our protectors having problems at VA Hospitals. The Sioux Falls, SD center has treated me great. Even though I am not considered a combat vet, (served USMC active from 1977 - 1979) I have had no problems there. I have had to overcome some of the regualations from DC, but the staff, from Doctors to custodians, have always treated us vets with the utmost respect and dignity. While I was an in-patient there for an infetion in my knee in 2005, I awoke early one morning, about 3:00 A.M., to the sound of a gurney peing pushed down the hallway. One of the patients had passed away. I was extremely impressed that the staff had placed his remains in a body-bag and had already draped his body with The Flag. I comented about this to the staff and I was told that the Hospital had just started doing this. I hope that other VA hospitals eventually come up to the standards our Vets deserve. Dave

Howdy all, I am hoping someone know what to call the lower scoop looking thing under my radiator. I had one of the light fall off. The plastic retaingin ring broke off and the remaining light is going as well. I think this is an after market item. I don't know if the epoxy type adhesive would hold it back on or if I should go ahead and replace the lights. Maybe I will just take the thing off. Does it help direct air to the radiator? Thanks for the help Dave

Doreen and I met up with bj66 (Bernie) & randyg on Saturday in Sioux Falls. Had some good conversation and mutual admiration of bikes. Great meeting you both. Hoep to get together again sometime. I did not know when I set this date that a National softball tourny would be going on the same weekend. Hotels all booked. Doreen and I stayed the night in a room we were able to find. (Must have been that last one in town.) Lots of bikes going through enroute to Sturgis. We met a couple from Ontario. Nice folks. I did not catch their names. Her bike is a 650 Vstar (I think) and painted so that the color changes from blue to green depending on the angle of the light. His Venture was black with flames. The fender had the figure of Death within the flames and he was pointing out to the viewer. He said he come on here once in while. They had just spen a week in the Black Hills and were headed home. Hope all those on the roads ride safe and arrive home intact. Dave

Would a trunk guard from a 1991 Royale fit on the truck of my 1984? If not a direct fit, could it be close? I know the bags were changed on the '86 and newer, but thought if I could get this, it would dress the back en up a bit and and some more lights. Thanks, Dave

Wow, looks like there are a few of us bionics on here. I had my right knee replaced August 28, 2007. I too tried to do too much too soon and paid the price. PAIN is not my friend! Best advice is to listen to the Doc and ice as needed. I have been able to get to a point where I actually enjoy goint for a walk. Would rather ride though. Take it easy! Dave

Glad it didn't turn out bad for you. I would bet the suburban had a boot butter-bar 90 day wonder behind the wheel. Second Lieutenants, the second most dangerous thing in the military. The most dangerous is a Second Lieutenant with a MAP! Dave
