  1. Don't know what size Sportster it was, but he started it, when he reved it up next to me at a stop light, just as I pulled up next to him. My puny powered stock '98 RSTC was pulling away from him when I hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear. It was a 45mph speed zone and I came up on where I needed to turn, so I don't know how it would have turned out in the top gears, but I bet he doesn't pick on one of these Yamaha beasts again...
  2. Still driving my '83 Caprice Classic that I bought for $2500.00 in 1987. Had 56,000 miles on it then and has 293,000 on it now. Working on the 3rd 700R4 transmission, but the :bowdown:305 small block is still original. It is burning a quart of oil between 3000 mile changes. I still gets 20mpg on a trip.
  3. :sign yeah that:
  4. I would strongly suggest that you order the install kit with the horn. A cheap $10.00 if you don't have wire and connectors handy already.
  5. :think:Thoughts on Adaware and SpyBot?
  6. I sure hope they pursue some type of homicide charges!!!
  7. I just put a new WWW 404 on the front. The rear was new 1200 miles ago. From the positive experience with tires on my cages, I elected to put Nitrogen in the new bike tires. The Nitrogen seems to be immune to pressure changes due to temperature. And so they tell me the Nitrogen does not seep through the rubber as much as air. The 404s call for max pressure of 41psi, so I had them inflate them both to 40psi. Just my thoughts on keeping pressure stable.

    Skippy

Someone, Will Rogers, I think said something to the effect: "If dogs don't go to Heaven, then I want to go where dogs go." I whole heartedly agree! Sorry to hear about the loss. We have four 4-legged children, 3 dogs and one cat.
  9. Carl, Glad the good news(you're OK) :Avatars_Gee_George:out weighs the bad news(you fall down go boom)!!! Maybe if you had been in the right lane she would have had a running start at you and the outcome not been as good! Don't try to second guess yourself. Just take it easy and get better. I hear you old folks:stickpoke: don't get over it quickly!!! Walter
  10. My Amen!!! I rode the Burgman for the better part of 2 years with the Voyager kit on it, before I got around to taking it off. Other than high-centering it a couple of times, before I was aware of that "opportunity" I have not had a minutes trouble with it. Yes you have to drive it. In that time I was lucky to not have to panic stop but once. When I locked both wheels, the bike slid arrow straight, with no hint of wanting to fish-tale. After that just for grins and giggles I tried it again on a side street, same results. As for pulling a trailer, I do not know what the tongue weight limitations are, but the trailer weight is completely on the Voyager kit, not on the bike at all. The limitation I see there is stopping a heavy trailer. I don't know if you can put a trailer brake control on a bike. The voyager kit seems to give you the best of both worlds. Unlike a "trike converted" bike, if you decide to trade bikes, the Voyager can go on the new bike, with very little effort. And the "old" bike is still a BIKE, thus more than likely more sell-able.
  11. Never been into one, so this may be a dumb question (BUT,I'm known for them) is there a possibility that it has left hand treads?
  12. Burgman (automatic) trike...
  13. My opinion is that we are not the ones that are gonna ride on it, so I what ever YOU are most comfortable with.

    Way too Cool!!!!

Carbon foot print? Wonder when the soft drink industry will com under fire? Just how much CO2 does a 2 liter Coke/Pepsi/7UP etc release? :stickpoke:
  15. I guess I've gotten lazy in my old age, and maybe had to pinch too many pennys. But my local shop only charges $40.00 from drive the bike in to drive the bike out on the new tire. My thoughts are how many $40.00s would I have to save :mo money:to pay for all the tools to change my tires once or maybe twice a year? Just my
  16. If you can, drill a small hole through it. Then with a SMALL brazing tip heat the bolt through the hole you drilled to almost red (or as hot as you are comfortable with depending on attached parts), then take a squirt bottle and spray water through the hole. That should shrink the piece of the bolt. let it cool completely then grab it with the vice grips. Unless it is actually seized from pulled threads it should come right out.
  17. I realize my 1998 RSTC has a smaller HP engine, but I consistantly get 160 miles on 4 gallons of gas. I admit that on one road trip when I ran about 40 miles following a cage at 90, my mileage dropped to 33mpg. so for the most part I just watch my trip meter and beginning at 150 miles I consider looking for a "station". So far I have not needed to use the reserve.
  18. If you are talking about the Delta Foremost branded Super Clean, straight from the jug, it can be used as a paint stripper:yikes:, of sorts...
  19. My first impression as I put the "Corbin" on my bike was that there is not much padding in it. The first time I sat on it I didn't notice how hard it was but that the shape an position on the bike makes it harder, with my short leggs, to get both feet flat on the ground, even though it is a lower seat height. After I rode it a little, I WAS amazed at how comfortable it is. That being said I have not made any real long rides with it yet, but it does seem to be much more comfortable than the OEM seat. But, if I am going to be running errands in town with a lot of stop and go, I put the OEM seat on.
  20. Yeah, to a dog you are family, to the cat you are Staff Glad the cat is home!!! I'm a real softy, I missed a day of work two years ago when my 15 year old cat died. He WAS family!
  21. Tim, You forgot to mention 2 buckets of prop wash to keep the flight line supple and usable:innocent-emoticon:
  22. :178:I love it when a plan comes together... Thanks Carbon One, the bracket fit perfectly!
  23. Mark, Kinda sorta hijacking this thread, but do you know if the Buckeye stator will fit a 1998 RSTC? The website, says 99 and up, but some of the "stuff" in these V4s seems to be "all the same"
  24. :2cents:Don't know about these bikes, but the older '60s ones needed the battery connected to so the rectifier could regulate the voltage. Take my 68 DT-1. If you start it with out the battery connected, and turn on the lights, all the bulbs will pop like flash bulbs. If that is the case, I can imagine what THAT would do to the electronics on a Venture.
  25. Is the link working for anyone else, or am I the only one it doesn't like?
