  1. Picture (File) is too large. To get it to show up by your name you need to upload it to the Avatar.
  2. Embarrassed??? At least you didn't drop yours in a Harley Davidson dealer's parking lot... Yes I followed the rule
  3. :backinmyday:One thing no one has mentioned here is to remind those who have never done this before is to lay the cover back on the reservoir, so that little "water pistol stream" does not get on the bike, the floor or in your eyes (yes safety glasses are a PLUS, but don't ask me how I know that!) when you pull the lever. It is probably a good idea to lay a heavy towel over the tank too.
  4. :stickpoke:Just a thought, if whoever is doin this shows up with a ROTO-ROOTER emblem on his shirt, RUN!!!!
  5. Mississippi too!!! We have a fairly new law commonly called "The Castle Doctrine". You catch someone in or just breaking into your house or car, he is fair game. In the last couple of years there are several folks that will not be repeat offenders. The best part, in these cases, is there is no need for expenses like public defenders, court costs or incarceration costs, just the coroner.
  6. I ride a 1998 Tour Classic. Getting the carbs synced made a really different bike out of it. Check the vacuum port plugs, too. Get that done and run three or four tanks, (with 1/2 can of Seafoam in them), through it. Also if you are REALLY "getting after it", let it hit the rev limiter in all gears, or if you are not comfortable with that, don't shift out of first under 40, out of second before 60, out of third before 90. Forth and fifth you are on your own. See if that stops the studder you feel, on acceleration. Just for grins and giggles you might take a look at the air filter (a PITA) and spark plugs
  7. Rumor has it that Harbor Freight is gonna have this on sale for $350.00 come June 12th. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?itemnumber=66771-OVGA&Submit=Go
  8. Yeah!!! The "Change" is not happening as illuded to in the campaign! I'm not quite in the same boat, but I (got) retired a few years before I wanted to. I to am thankful that my toys are paid for.
  9. I can surf this site with my BlackBerry. Just cannot use the Chat Room. Will the iPhone do the chat?
  10. I have not. I even left the little plastic thingy out, as it points forward. I didn't want any more open ended hoses running around. In my feeble brain I'm thinking I will not be blowing this thing for any extended periods, so having the intake pointed straight down should be good enough. (I hope)
  11. When I first got my bike, it needed a rear tire and in my ignorance and luck of the draw I ended up with a BW 404. I didn't think WWW then, because the front tire, a Brickstone, was almost new. 2000 miles later I started noticing some minor sidewall cracking in the front (B/S). I also had joined the group here and learned the consensus of opinion about the Brickstones. So, for my peace of mind I started looking for a new front tire. I knew I wanted a WWW and all I could find was the 404, so, I bought it. Now I have a matched set, brand wise. When the rear wears out I'll go with a WWW on it, as they really make this bike look good. I guess it is that I don't know any better, but the bike to me handles and rides very well on the 404s. I know it is better at low speed without the Brickstone. So, maybe ignorance (on my part) is bliss!!!
  12. I didn't get to make it either, but when I looked at the aerial view in a previous post, there was a suspicious white spot:shock3: in the pond. Who knows???
  13. Install is REALLY simple! Get the bracket from CarbonOne and order the install kit along with the horn. With the bracket it mounts in place of the stock horn.
  14. I'm looking for one as well. This looks like it is within my limited budget, let us know if you order it and what you think of it.
  15. Like Carl recomended, get a left hand twist DRILL bit (yes you will need a reversable drill motor). It will be hard on one that small, but I find that "blunting" the cutting edges, with a bench grinder, will help it dig-in and back the screw out, (sometimes). The impact driver with a new bit is a good idea too, but brace the handlebar with something so when you hit the impact driver with the hammer the handlebar does not give and absorb the energy.

I enjoy the looks :think:I get from folks when I answer the "It looks like a Harley" :smile5:comment with NO:no-no-no:, the Harleys look like my YAMAHA!!!
  17. Working in Gulfport, MS for a couple of days. Needed a quart of oil for my cage, so went to Advance Auto here and noticed Seafoam was still $8.99.
  18. Jim, This may be completely off the wall, but is there room in the fuse holder to plug in a 15A circuit breaker? AutoZone has some that have "spade" terminals spaced just right to replace a fuse. The terminals are long with score marks on them so you can break them off to the length you need. At least if something shorts out, intermittently the lights will try to come back on, so you don't take the chance of having all your lights go out :yikes: completely just at the worst possible time.
  19. :sign07:We may be hijacking this thread:scratchchin: Gonna change the plugs, just because... Straight off a 170 mile ride the r/f is leanest followed by the r/r then l/r and l/f I still gotta pull the petcock to see why "RES" doesn't function as advertised...
  20. Only had one experience with the local Stealership, in my area, so far. When I first got my used bike I took it to them to see what they would charge to do a carb sync. The service manager said as far as he new they had only done one and that was a month or so back, so he would go talk to the tech that did it to see how long it took. About 15 minutes later he came back telling me how hard and involved it was and that he thought it would not be more than $225.00. I choked, thanked him and promptly left. I'm thinking it'll be a cold day, you know where, before I go back to see them!!! If they don't know how to do THAT basic service, well you know.....
  21. Runs MUCH smoother :thumbsup2:up to about 65mph where a vibration starts. Not as pronounced as before the sync, but there. After the 170 mile ride home, mostly non-stop 4-lane, I noticed it popping and "gurgling" on deceleration. It has almost never done that. When I pulled up in my driveway I noticed it was idling funny. But me being "brain dead" after a 14-1/2 hour day, I was not in the mood to investigate. That is on the menu for tomorrow... BTW I've run at least 3 cans of Seafoam through it in the 3 month/3000+ miles I've had the bike.
  22. On my '98 Tour Classic, the single air filter is in an air box under the tank. yeah PITA!!!
  23. Could you not bring it back to a US stealer for warranty work?
  24. Harbor freight has a folding set, that is even drilled, to fit the tamper proof screws (for those who feel the need to take a bathroom stalls apart ). Don't remember the cost, but they along with the folding hex (allen) wrench ones are in my shrink wrap emergency tool pack permanently kept in the left saddlebag.
  25. Thinking about this "opportunity" while on my ride Sunday, I switched my valve to reserve and rode for a couple of miles, to see if it could be stopped up. It ran fine, so I switched back to "on" and rode on to the MS, AL, TN M&E. I knew we were gonna pull the tank to check the air filter, so I purposely ran it low on gas. Well while Taz was doing the carb sync on my bike it ran out of gas. When I switched to "RES", nothing. We put about a 1/2 gallon in the tank and I rode to fill up. It took 4.4 gallons to top it off, so I must have really been out. I'm going to pull the petcock to see just what is happening. BTW this is the first time I have run it THAT low. I have been using my trip meter and filling up between 150 and 160 miles. Never a problem so far.
