  1. Pictures??? Vendor? Price? Front, Rear or Both?
  2. According to the weatherman, you might wanna put your return trip off to maybe Friday or Saturday. Suppose to be rainy:crying: down here all week, but pretty for the weekend. BTW to the asylum!!!:rotfl::ORANGE:
  3. Wait!!! Wasn't GASOLINE tank mentioned when this thread began??? :stirthepot: :rotfl:
  4. Here's what I did. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=383404#post383404]Who makes a trunk for my '06 RSTD? - VentureRider.Org[/ame] http://www.ioffer.com/i/HD-HARLEY-DAVIDSON-TOUR-PAK-PK-ROADKING-ELECTRA-GLIDE-104261232
  5. With out the relay circuit, you'll end up letting the smoke out of the puny stock horn wires...
  6. "The Trace" is a beautiful ride, just be on the look out for 4-legged Bambi and the 2-legged (federal) bears. If you need anything while passing through the Jackson, MS area, my cell # is on my profile. Sorry to say I've been called in to work next week, or I'd ride along with y'all for a bit. If you have an extra day spend some time in Natchez, it is a beautiful city. Walter
  7. Got a call from Mike (CMIKE) last night. Wanted to know if I were up for a ride today. I had been watching the weather call for rain all week, but lo and behold today they had miraculously dropped the forcast to less than 20%. So, lets go. He came by my house this morning and we cut out for Hattiesburg. I wanted to show off my stolen (at least that's what Squidley called it) Venture to some of my Harley and G/W riding co-workers. We had lunch, then showed off both Ventures (Silver IS the fastest and gets better fuel mileage too! ) Well where to next? Ever been the the Grand Canyon of Mississippi? http://www.geocities.com/t_2m/Welcome_to_Red_Bluff No, not until today, so we made the trip. Pictures don't do it justice, and no it is nowhere near as big as the "real thing" but it is a beautiful place and there are a few twisties to get there. One of my co-workers mentioned that MS587 is kinda curvey. I guess he has never been to the Smokies... Around a 250 mile day for me and a bit more for Mike as he lives about 90 miles from me. Not a bad first outing. Thanks for suggesting it Mike!!!
  8. Hope the recovery is going well and you'll be back in the saddle soon!!! Jason said the wrap-around back rest was a new addition to their tour pack. My wife sat on it this afternoon after I got finished and then sat on my "new" Venture for the first time. She likes the RSTC addition, but LOVES the RSV. Now she might just get on and ride either one. Walter
  9. Finally got the tour-pack on thanks to the bracket from (member) naturbar. The 1998 TC is a little different from the late model TDs, in that there were no quick mount lugs and the rear holes are a little more than a inch different. Oh well, after I finally convinced the parts guy at the stealership that quick mount lugs were in the '05 TD parts book, not in the accessories book I got them ordered. Cut the stand-offs off the bracket and redrilled the holes. One twice, after my machinist son-in-law mis-measured:doh:. Anyway now it's on...
  10. If you look hard enough and are REALLY LUCKY you can find a '99 RSV for $4500.00 :banana:
  11. Boss, I'm interested in the tan on if you wanna get rid of it. I have a chrome one on my '99, but I'm putting Baron 1-1/2 risers on and they say the risers won't work with the cover. So, looks like I'll have to cut "windows" in the cover for the risers to fit in. Don't know about cutting the chromed plastic. Send me a PM and lets deal... Walter
  12. Same in Mississippi... What's winter got to do with it??? :stickpoke::stirthepot:
  13. Hey Don!!! Glad to hear you are on the mend. Like Todd said, watch out for the PT folks they are definately sadists !!! Walter
  14. OK, I always seem to do things bassackwards. A couple of weeks before the '99 Venture grabbed me by the throat and said BRING ME HOME, I bought a MotoCom RiderLink system for the RSTC. Now that I have the Venture, I'd like to adapt the RiderLink head sets to the Venture. It first looked like all I needed was a PC keyboard adapter to go from the RiderLink PS2 plug to the Venture 5 pin DIN plug. Well being the pack rat that I am I had the PC adapter. Well I guess the pin-outs are different. I hooked it up but get no sound out. Anyone have any suggestions? Walter
  15. Darn!!! Just when I get something to play this box of cassettes I have in my closet... :stickpoke:
  16. I retired in March of this year, only to come back and work on call part time for my employer, a "few" days a month (They do send money for that). NOW I'm wondering how I worked full time and kept up...
  17. Got up this morning and it was all the way down to 49F:starz:. By the time I left for work it was 50F. Terrible situation, I had to put on my windbreaker on under my mesh Tourmaster:rasberry::rasberry:
  18. This morning when I turned on the key on my "new" '99 RSV, the factory stock horn started blowing. There was also a horn sound :confused24:coming from around the left lower fairing. Turned off the key and the horn(s) silenced. I ended up pushing the plug off the stock horn on the lower right side. Now when when I push the horn button there is a pathetic beep from the lower left fairing. It has progressed to the point there is just a click when I push the button. When I got home, after work,I took that lower fairing off and found a cylindrical "thing" covered by a rubber sleeve. It is the source of the pathetic sound when I push the horn button. There is also a (throttle type )cable running into one end of it. Is this a second horn? Before calling it an afternoon, I hooked the right side horn back up. Now it works properly:scratchchin:. I think the gremlins have realized there is no bell on this bike YET!
  19. Ok, Got it home and unloaded. Took it out for a shakedown cruise. WOW!!! I know it needs a carb sync. It accelerates well and runs really smooth at highway speeds, but will not come back to idle and I can hear the exhaust hitting harder from the right muffler at idle. The cruise does work fine. I went ahead and put a whole can of Sea Foam in the 1st fill up, to see if that will help. At this point the only thing I see that REALLY won't work is the "Select" button on the dash. I guess (didn't get an owner's manual with it) that changes the odometer display to the 2 trip meters. It seems to be stuck in. I tried to pry it out a little with no success. My question is what all do I have to take off to get to it, so I can either free it up or replace it? Now I just gotta decide what to do about the missing antenna. Yeah the CB one is on the wrong side, but he did that to get the AM/FM to work, 'cause he never used the CB. Oh, does anyone know if there is an adapter to allow me to connect my Rider Link headset, with a PS2 plug to the DIN plug on the Venture? I'm gonna look for some of my old PC keyboard adapters...
  20. Not good pictures as there was grease on the window where I lubed the power window slide, and didn't realize greade had dripped on the glass. But anyway, here is a Harley rider, I happende up on, and his dog...
  21. That's one of the reasons for the chock, it holds the bike straight up....
  22. Don't know about the best price, but I got mine from Biker Highway...
  23. My suggestion would be a front wheel chock (I have the H/F cheap one) for each bike and then some kind of tie down on the 4 corners of each bike...
  24. Been there done that! I never have to use the choke, in fact my scoot will not run with the choke even partially out. I crank it and let it run while I put on my "gear". If the temp is less than 40F I may wait an extra minute or so...
  25. Don't have pictures on my work PC, but if you buy the bracket( in Classified) from menber Carbon_one, it will mount in place of the OEM horn. You will need to add wiring to the relay, as the stock horn wiring will not carry the load. There are numerous threads addressing this installation. Use the SEARCH function for "Stebel". BTW, STAY AWAY for an installation kit called PLUG & PLAY!!!
