  3. Headed out in the M/H for Breaux Bridge, LA. Made it as far as Brookhaven, MS before we had to shut down. Some kinda foreign white crap was building up on the windshield. :snow2: Oh well we are camped out in the Wally World parking lot. Darn-it I wish this generator had a quieter muffler :bang head:

  7. Congratulations to the new Eagle and the proud Dad!!! :clap2: He doesn't realize it, but this training will serve him well through out his life to come. I made Eagle, God and Country and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. My Dad was our Explorer Scout Air Squadron leader. He contracted with a local business man who had a small airplane (1941 Aeronca Chief) that needed rebuilding. The business man furnished the parts and we scouts, with the help of a local A&E mechanic, furnished the labor. We completed that project and several of us flew it numerous hours. I started my special needs son on that path and got him through Webelos, in Cub Scouts. Sadly when we transitioned to a Boy Scout troop, most of the boys were older and not used to having a special needs boy in their ranks. The leader was not much better and did not think I needed to hang around, during the meetings. I was shocked! After the 3rd meeting, my son did not want to go back. I did not blame him. Sadly there was not another troop close.
  8. Just a normal day at the asylum...
  9. You sure it's not David that will need the pepper spray?

  11. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing this gentleman. All I know is what is in these articles. The accident happend in Flowood, MS, one of the bedroom communities in the greater Jackson, MS area. It says he was riding a Yamaha cruiser and someone turned left in front of him Be careful out there, they ARE out to get you!!!

  16. I don't know if the shock has ever been replaced on my '99, 'cause I haven't had it but a couple of months. It now has only 18,000 miles and is starting to make a groaning noise when it is very cold. Is this a sign mine is failing?

  20. That windshield cover looked like it might be a little small, but if a larger one is desired, I have a good friend that can supply a little larger one...
  21. Oil in the coolant is bad but if even if a little coolant gets in the oil it will turn to very non-lubricating, unforgiving GOO. I don't know much about these engines, but I do know that any engine that has lube oil and coolant in close proximity, oil pressure is normally higher than the coolant system pressure. This means that oil will go into the cooling system through a miniscule leak, before coolant will find its way into the crankcase, but it eventualy WILL. Leaks normally don't heal! Better be safe than sorry, find the leak... If there is any doubt, after you put a couple of hundred miles on the bike, go by a Caterpillar dealer and buy an oil sample bottle(price varies but ours are $12.00). Put about 2ozs of your oil in it. When they analyze it, coolant presence will be one of the tests.
  22. The '99 RSV has 18,325.0 Had 16,700 when I got it in late September The '98 RSTC has 28,000+ Had 22,900 when I got it in March
  23. If they pull more current than the puny stock horns you should use a relay. That being said, the way the stock horns work is power to one side all the time. The other side runs to the horn button on the left handle bar. The horn button when pushed completes the circuit by providing a path to ground. If the horn button contacts are stuck (maybe welded by excess current draw), this would cause your problem. You might check to see if one terminal on the new horns is common with ground. hook them up one at a time and see what happens...
  24. I have bought several of the generic Yamaha blanks (P/N 4BH-82511-09 about $8.00 each) and had the local ACE H/W dealer cut them. No problems. Also the ILCO blank numbers X2248 YM63 and numbers X120 YH46 (Honda car I think) work with no problems. On a side note, since the saddle bag locks on my RSTC are different from the ignition and the right saddlebag lock on my RSV is different from the left the trunk and the ignition, I had a key cut for each bike that is different on each side. (Yes a Yamaha lock only uses one side of the key!) That way I only need one key for each bike. I cut a notch in the head of the key so I know which direction to use for each application. Thanks to the member (you know who you are!) who cut those for me!
