    Just a thought, but I wonder if the carbs are so far out of sync that the "hot" cylinder is just carrying the load? Get at least one more vacuum gauge and check the vacuum readings on #3 and #4, then #1 and #2 then #2 and #4. Bet you will find a big difference between the "hot" and "cold" one.     If you are using regular vacuum gauges, you need to go by a store that sells aquarium supplies. Pick up a brass air line valve for each gauge. This way you can restrict the hose to the gauge enough to dampen out the pulses, so the gauge needles give a readable result.

    1st time in 2010 and I found it to be a most moving experience!!! I joined the ride in Tallulah, LA and rode as far as Meridian, MS. I sure hope to do it again in 2011!!!

    If this has already been checked, sorry I missed it, but have you checked to see if there is a large voltage drop between the negative battery post and the frame of the bike, with the ignition switch on?

    Won the Fleabay auction on a Garmin Nuvi 225, for $55.00 bucks. Then bought (now) a waterproof handle bar mount, again from Fleabay, for $17.00 and change. Not a gazillion dollar Zumo, but.....

    We had a huge snow storm here one day last winter. Up to 6" in places!!! Was really terrible, too. Schools let out and businesses shut down. There was even some patches of it left over the next morning!!! :stickpoke:

    If you are talking about an RSV, if you have small arms and hands, you can change it with out spliting the fairing, but spliting the fairing is not that big a deal, so that is probably the best way to go. :lightbulb:BTW would be a good opportunity to pull all the connectors apart so you can put di-electric grease in them.

    Thanks for all the ideas!!! As the HD goes, Spinrite seems to think it is fine, no bad sectors found. Booted with a Win98 install CD all data seems to be there (yeah the drive is formatted FAT32) Motherboard and memory? Box works fine with another HD with Win 2K on it. I think I'm gonna do as Monty suggested and add a new Master drive and install a fresh copy of XP on it and use my "original" drive as a slave. Now to look for all my software install CDs or downloaded install files......

    My main desktop at home seems to be "toes up" at this point. It started a while back giving me a BSOD message that it could not load c:\winnt\system32\config\software when 1st powered on or restarted. Power off and power right back up and it would boot normally and work fine, until the next reboot. Then it got to the point it would "blue screen" randomly, and then the power off and power back on did not work anymore. The can't load "software" message happened every time. I found a fix on Microsoft's site, where all the registry pieces in the "config" folder are replaced from the "repair" folder. Now it won't boot normally or in Safe Mode. I thought well I'll try a "repair". There lies the problem and therefore my question. When I select ®epair I get the message something to the effect "no windows system found" and it wants to install a fresh copy of Win-XP. The question is what does the install routine need to find to recognize there is an operating system in need of repair?

    Seems like I remember a while back someone posting some .GPX files. Were those map updates that would work in a Nuvi? I just bought a used Nuvi 255 off Fleabay. I'm not sure how up to date the map file is.
