  1. As some may know one of my co-workers (Keith) bought Gunboat's 2-wheel '99. Soon as he gets internet at his house he'll join us. I rode it home for him last weekend, as he does not yet have his endorsement. He also had "butterflies" about getting on the RSV as he did not realize just how big these bikes are. He has not been on a bike in 20 some odd years. Well this afternoon BigBoyinMS and I got Keith over to a church parking lot for a 1st ride. I let him start out on my "little" bike, then move up to the RSV. I didn't get a picture of the smile, but about 15 minutes after moving up to the RSV I could tell from the SMILE, that "the bug" had bitten him big time!!!
  2. MD is in Oberlin, OH. An event to make at least once! Sorry I had to choose between it and the Vogel meet this year, Vogel won. Yes order the tires in advance and have them shipped to Freebird's house. Once there, get out of the way:rotf:, 'cause the tires will get on you bike very quickly!!! As for the ME880s you might wanna do some reading here on the site. Most who have tried them will tell you to shy away from them on these heavy bikes! Others have had have had good luck.
  3. Could be wrong, but that tells me the "button" is working. Does the relay click when you push the the button? If not, there may be an "open" between it and the button on the handlebar, or in the supply wire to the control circuit pin. Is there 12V at the control circuit pin on the relay? # 85 or #86, I think. Do you have 12V to the #30 pin on the relay? If not, check the fuse (you should have) between the battery and the #30 pin. If there is voltage there, jumper that wire to the wire leading to the horn, to test that circuit. Just rambling, but check the simple stuff 1st!
  4. Just my but I hope both of you are documenting all the incompetence, that you find, with pictures and when everything is fixed properly that you send all of it to the Yamaha factory rep. to Yamaha corporate and cc the OWNER of your respective dealerships. That is unless you retain the services of a competent lawyer...
  5. Yup, I been wondering too! If I'm not already in need, I guess I eventually will be in need...
  6. Nah!!! Just lost count... Thanks everyone!!!
  7. +1 on thr POR products. Over the years as "redneck repairs" I've used fiber glass resin. Just keep rotating the tank 'til it hardens.
  8. Fantastic News David!!! Not so sure about the good looking part....
  9. Sorry to hear that, Bob!!! I still can't eliminate the "Oh, I still need to walk the dogs", thought before I turn in for the night. I hope time will help...
  10. Told him Saturday we would be praying for him!!! Please let us know any news as soon as you here it!!!
  11. Yeah, to the asylum!!!:rotf: As others have said, don't be afraid to ask questions, you will get plenty of answers, some may even be pertinent to the question .
  12. +1 on the Intake Air!!! Useless pockets, huh??? you may have something there, gotta take a look...
  13. Well, I was gonna be there, and did make it 1/2 way, but ran into some guy with a 99 RSV for sale and was forced to turn around to ride it back to Pearl, MS for a potential new member!!! :rotf::rotf:
  14. I have the "one key - two sides" situation on both bikes. But in your situation, can't the dealer re-key the newest switch to your "old" key, or as some have suggested, just replace the switch(bottom) part and reuse the lock set (top part). Oh and BTW it would be a good time to get your headlight and passing lights(if installed) hooked to a relay, which will take the lighting load off the ignition switch.
  15. What about Freebird's MD June 4th? That would be a pretty good ride from OK! Then There is Vogel in August...
  16. :sign yeah that:'s what I was trying to say.....
  17. Also 1-800-"Yamaha"
  18. Just a thought, but why not buy the smallest Frog-Togg and roll up the sleeves and legs. Then un-roll them as he grows. That way it will be a while before he out grows them.
  19. Trying to go back in to the dark recesses of what's left of my feeble brain, to recall some of the failure analysis training. IF I remember correctly this is called spalling caused by the hard surface being "case crushed" by not enough backlash and incorrect incorrect contact pattern. In other words improper setup, I think.
  20. Soooooo, you are just a young squirt, huh?????:cool10::stirthepot::stirthepot:
  21. There was thread a good while back that suggested lock tite-ing the fuel cap screws. After I read it and check both bikes, I found the screws were loose in both caps. On the subject of saddle bag lid screws. I found the lids all seemed loose, but the screwa were tight. The problem I found was the casting of the hinges were longer that the bags are thick. So, the screws tightened against the casting without any clamping force on the bags/lids. to solve THAT situation, I had to take the hinges completely off the bike and do a little grinding. I KNOW I didn't use Locktite on the hinge screws, but I think I remember putting a small amount of "Yellow 3M" (redneck locktite) on the threads before I reinstalled the hinges.
  22. Is that AFTER you inhale the contents of a large Helium balloon??? :rotf::rotf: I love you . buddy!!! :)
  23. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that: Oh and when he's older, and at your house, remember to give him a Mountain Dew and a Snickers bar 30 minutes before the parents pick him up!!!!
  24. So I guess this means you won't be coming with Gunboat Saturday???:confused24:
